UPND is overwhelmed with the number of adoption applications received-Mweetwa

UNITED PARTY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says the party is overwhelmed with the number of adoption applications received from across the country at all levels of representation.

Addressing journalists in Livingstone this morning, Mr Mweetwa said all districts across the country have received applications from those who want to serve on UPND ticket as Councilors, Council Chairpersons, Mayors and Members of parliament.

“ This clearly indicates that Zambians are confident that, UPND brings with it a credible leadership that will pay attention to their plight something which the PF have failed to do,” said Mr Mweetwa.

He howewer said the huge number of applicants can also be a double edged sword depending on the management of adoptions and reactions of those who will not be adopted.

“Fellow applicants, only one candidate will be picked, we need to prepare ourselves as no drama is expected from those of us who will not be adopted, don’t use your lost status to leave the party, better leave now, “ said Mr Mweetwa.

He appealed to all aspiring candidates to prepare themselves for any outcome and avoid bringing confusions as only one candidate will be picked.

“ Let us all be principled, if you want to lead you must also be ready to be led by others, to our officials be fair, allow everyone to campaign freely , there should be no favouritism, no vote buying, let the people’ s choice prevail,” said Mr Mweetwa.

Meanwhile Mr Mweetwa has appealed to the Police to allow all political players to interact just like they have allowed the Patriotic Front to go on with rallies and campaigning.

“ Let us stand and move, mobilise and campaign please do not forget to abide by the COVID-10 health guidelines, police as custodians of the law are expected to apply the law fairly, justly and judiciously,” said Mr Mweetwa.

  2. Big difference between being overwhelmed with adoptions from fellow tribal members, and actually winning a general election. The latter requires universal support from all provinces. And it is only the pf who have that kind of support at the moment

  7. When I look at UPND today I can see that things have have from the way they were in 2016 , twenty sixteen was a year when HH must have worn that election with flying colours not this year,, since he had all it takes to win an election as PF was very weak and threatened with a split as Sata died , and there was confusion in that party as they had no leader but UPND was very well organized and campaigning very heavily flying from every corner of Zambia and the party was thriving with wealth and had the numbers in the party no one was resigning , on the side of PF things were not settled everyone wanted to be president, in the end EL out smarted Sampa who had also a strong following for his presidential bid.
In the 2016 campaigns for the newly accepted presidential…

  8. There is no need to tell people that if indeed there are overwhelming applications. People will see such for themselves. What people need right now is the UPND Manifesto not just “Bally will fix it”. We also need some answers to “only a Tonga” and how HH got rich during privatization chapwa. The more u-turning Mweetwa keeps talking about overwhelming applications, the more we keep daunting him. How many times does anyone tell us that the sky is blue?

Acquiring shares in a hotel without declaring interest is not credible at all but crookedness, Bp employees want their money some useless pension scheme fund company has not paid them. Mweetwa tell your god that we are still waiting for evidence over the sale of ZNBC and Zesco to the Chinese nation.

  10. Adoption failures especially the incumbents will cause defections. Kakoma and the Mbabala MP.
There will be more swingers. PF will not be an exception. THERE ARE NO PERMANET FRIENDS IN POLITICS.
Look at KBF on Edgar, Kakoma on HH and Aka on Kambwili. Politics season is open. All the best to all but defend yourself at all times as they say in boxing.
