Oil pipeline to be built from Lobito to Zambia

Share

Angola and Zambia will sign on 19 of this month, in Luanda, a memorandum for construction of an oil pipeline for the country to supply fuel, the Angolan Ministry of Mineral Resources announced.

The matter was discussed between the Minister for Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, and Zambia’s ambassador to Angola, Lawrence Chalungumana.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, three years ago Zambia showed interest in building a multi-product pipeline, from the municipality of Lobito, in Angola’s Benguela province, to supply Zambia and the region with diesel, gasoline and gas.

The Zambian diplomat said at the end of the meeting that next Monday the two ministers would sign, in Luanda, the memorandum for construction of the pipeline.

“It will be an opportunity to insert Angola in the regional market and generate employment and energy,” said Lawrence Chalungumana.

  1. Typical PF government story: Not a word on funding. And since our coffers are empty – thanks to greedy PF cadres – you might as well forget about this pipeline: it won’t happen, not in my or your lifetime!

  5. This has been overdue long time ago. But why not take a pipeline straight to Cabinda where the oil is mined. For Lobito Bay we need the rail line for export and imports linked to Zambia.

  6. MOU again …these spineless lazy morons…waiting for the Chinese to say we will build it and own it then sell you the fuel. Plus a pipeline is a danger to those Elite Truck Haulages like GBM and Ruling party aligned middlemen in the fuel business…this can never happen under a weak corrupt leader like Edgar….then there is the issue of processing that Angolan grade fuel.
