PF Should Bear the Blame for Violence

Share

By Henry Kyambalesa

The Patriotic Front (PF), the ruling political party in Zambia, should bear the blame for all the socioeconomic ills currently facing the country.

Such socioeconomic ills include the high level of corruption, the country’s declining economic performance, the high level of government-secured debts, the unprecedented levels of poverty and inequality, and the current escalation of political violence, among a host of other socioeconomic problems and crises.

With respect to the current spate of political violence, the following age-old proverb renders the verdict: “The fish start rotting from the head.”

Why do we have to continue to vote for a clique of government officials who do not consider the pursuit and preservation of peace and stability in our beloved country as one of their primary functions?

In this regard, I am reminded of the following warning by a PF official directed at UPND supporters and their president and, by extension, other political parties and their leaders and supporters:

“[Muchinga Province] … is a bedroom for President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Muchinga remains so. And we as his sons are always ready to take care of the bedroom, to even kill the cockroaches as well as the rats that enter our father’s bedroom. That is our responsibility.” (See:
https://www.zambiawatchdog.com/we-will-kill-for-lungu-says-pf-official/.)

I am also reminded of some chieftains, as well as bogus, wacky and weird shepherds of the Lord’s flock—such as “Pastor” Sunday Sinyangwe—who do not embrace or espouse the virtue of being impartial in their handling of political matters. Besides, why, on Earth, would any level-headed human being “decree in the name of God” that another person fails to secure the necessary votes to hold an elective public office?

Does “pastor” Sinyangwe truly believe that such a prayer or “decree” would rise beyond the ceiling of his church? What kind of God or god would entertain such a prayer or “decree”? If it were in God’s nature to answer the silly prayers of the likes of “pastor” Sinyangwe, it would be commendable for Him to address the many recurrent socioeconomic problems and crises facing humanity.

There is also this brother of ours called “Kaizar Zulu,” an apparent and obviously uncivilised PF operative and sycophant who frequently makes unprovoked nasty, vulgar, insane, and ordinarily unprintable comments online targeting opposition political leaders and/or their supporters irrespective of the nature or subject of the news stories appearing on news outlets like the Lusaka Times Website.

Bwana Kaisar Zulu’s toxic, vile and hateful comments are apparently sanctioned by some PF officials, since he somewhat seems to be the party’s official online representative, and since the party has never cautioned him against making scandalous and outrageous comments on its behalf.

And his comments are clearly designed to incite inter-party violence. Therefore, it is shameful that some of our compatriots will very likely vote for candidates sponsored by a political party on whose behalf the likes of Kaisar Zulu proudly render their spiteful comments.

The pervasive spate of political violence which we are witnessing in our Motherland is clearly one of the numerous manifestations of government ineptitude. There are, therefore, no “Powerful forces pushing Zambia into instability.”

To reiterate, “The fish start rotting from the head.” To reverse the unfortunate incidence of such violence, the PF administration needed to make an earnest effort to build on the UNIP and the late Dr. Kenneth D. Kaunda’s timeless “One Zambia, One Nation” slogan and the electric “Tiyende Pamodzi” mantra in our people’s quest to create a cohesive, unitary, compassionate, and peaceful country.

Dr. Kaunda—MHSRIP—reminded us of our civic and moral obligation in this regard in his message to Zambians in the Diaspora on October 24, 2020—Zambia’s 56th Independence Day—in the following words: “Let us love one another, and remember to maintain our Motto: One Zambia, One Nation.”

By this message, Dr. Kaunda apparently granted us the authority to use the “One Zambia, One Nation” slogan and the Tiyende Pamodzi” mantra during political rallies and campaigns, and in our political dealings and interactions with other members of the Zambian family.

Anyway, we will soon have the opportunity on August 12, 2021 to give other political players the mandate to form government—political players who will hopefully address the down-sliding trajectory of our beloved country and the worsening of the general welfare of the majority of its people.

I should perhaps reserve the rest of my comments concerning the sad state of affairs in our beloved country for another day.

  1. Brilliant piece!

If PF is denying that it is the architect of political violence in Zambia . I will expose their dirty online with concrete proof

  2. Proof that the author of this article is not in tune with social media behavior. Does he really believe that the Kaizar Zulu on this blog is the real one? Mr Kambialesa wait until someone impersonates your credentials. You are too told not to know the sh*t that is thrown around in social platforms.

  3. ECL’s PF is a Product of Violence. PF’s Security Wing is led by Generals and Commanders whose Mission is to block Opposition Parties from Campaigning in Townships and on the streets. In Mpulungu recently PF imported Thugs from Kasama and Mpika to Mpulungu to cause violence. Residents of Mpulungu had to defend themselves and beat PF Cadres into pulp. In Lusaka PF deployed its Security Wing composed of Cadres,Commanders and Generals into Mandevu,Munali and Kanyama to defend themselves Townships by stopping HH and UPND Alliance from Campaigning during their Road Shows. PF Cadres provoked UPND Alliance Supporters and UPND Alliance Supporters had to defend themselves and repel these PF marauding Commanders and Generals. PF Cadres, Militias and Vigilantes have been Perpetrators of…

  4. Henry’s observers are correct. PF is responsible for all the Violence that we see. ECL created a Monster when he allowed the formation of a PF Military and Security Wing led by Generals and Commanders. It is this PF Security Wing perpetrating violence in Lusaka, Mpulungu, Namwala etc. The PF Strategy for winning 2021 Elections was to deploy these Militias, Commanders and Generals into Townships like Mandevu, Munali,Kanyama etc and make them No go areas to Opposition Parties. These PF Cadres have been blocking HH and UPND Alliance from Campaigning thru Road Shows. They are interfering and provoking UPND Alliance Supporters leading to violence. Until these PF Cadres, Militias and Vigilantes are disbanded there is no hope for free, fair, credible and peaceful Elections in August in…

  5. While it is interesting to to read this piece especially the part of our responsibility to unite the country, I take exception in quoting the watchdog which we know is equally very unfair and bias in its reporting, While the PF members have made scandalous statements regarding their strongholds, UPND has equally done the same. However, the point is that we must desist from pointing fingers and instead a take a more robust reconciliatory approach in condemning violence perpetuated by uncivlised cadres of the two main political parties. Indeed we only have one Zambia which belong to all of us and we must work hard to keep the peace flowing and avoid statements that can jeopardise it.

  6. If one talks about violence in Zambia and fails to mention Mapatizya formula, that person is compromised. If one talks about unity without talking about the statement “only a Tonga can rule UPND”. That person is compromised. It is clear Kyambalesa is a compromised cadres.

  8. The article may appear biased and even mentioning one Kaizer Zulu who incites and insults at will. If this guy was not who they say he is, trust me the cyber law would have visited him. Any citizen here on the blog or on radio who have supposedly insulted the head of state, they have tracked him and arrested him. Why haven’t they done so this this person? The track record thus far on this name is that of jail time candidate but still walk free. Learn to to condemn wrong regardless who has perpetrated it. Always looking at things from your own is poison. Zambia belongs to all. In any case, why have failed to root our violence and corruption with the functioning security wings? It would appear they are undermined. Threatenings of dismissal, transfers make our trained officers toil the line

  10. Henry Kyambalesa tell UPND and HH to openly and visibly say no to violence, playing like kids will not earn UNPD votes. You should also advise HH and UPND to side with ECL regarding Convid-19. Regarding socioeconomic ills, you have chosen to mislead. ECL and PF have done better than the previous presidents. PF and ECL are clear on what they have done and what they intend to do after winning 12 August 2021 elections.

  11. They say statistics don’t lie. In the past 3 years we have witnessed by-elections in various parts of our country. Notable incidences include the Sesheke brutality, the Kaoma violence. In Eastern, Northern, Luapula no incidences of violence took place except the one perpetrated by Patrick Mucheleka and his violent gang, the conviction of mp Romeo Kang’ombe for brutally beating and abducting ZP officers. So who is to blame for violence????

  14. When the MMD was in power there was bloodshed between MMD and UPND supporters. The PF are in power and there’s bloodshed between the PF and the UPND supporters. So the UPND is the common denominator when it comes to violence. Therefore, we can ignore or downplay the prominent role that the UPND plays in political violence. Should another Party, say Socialist form Govt, they’ll still be bloodshed between the Socialist Party and the UPND. There’s so much blood in the hands of the UPND

  15. How can you point fingers at one political party when you know for sure that it takes more than one party to fight.
Ba UPND you are very childish and foolish. Stop your no sense and take up responsibilities.

  16. When AKM passed away VJ went to represent GRZ…the rest is history…Mapatizya formula was planned, developed and executed by the same chaps…in Livingstone this was again used the former chief whip and party president in waiting when the one eyed ruler is retired…ended up in hospital and then police cell with a fractured wrist….again the same fellow when he learnt that his outgoing ruler was about to be questioned for obstructing the presidential motorcade..he assaulted a policeman..

  17. My team just made me aware of this article. Iwe chi Henry Haha you are a comedian. A big f00Iish one . Everyone knows that people only die where upnd is involved e.g. when hh went to police station 2 citizens were killed. Every time close to election we see an increase in deaths due to the freemas0nic forces. Let me warn you that we will deal with you. All my comments don’t call for violence but for police to deal with thugs in your tribal party. I will sue you if you write about me again.

  18. Outburst regarding violence will only aggravate the situation. Blaming PF instead of conducting soul searching is the wrong solution. There is no country in modern history without some form of violence or another. Or are you saying guns are not tolls of violet acts? The social and economic situation could be better. However, some projects ahold the promise of a bright future. New universities, hospitals, road networks, districts, provinces. Allegations of organized violence against members of opposition parties are completely untrue. Bring concrete evidence to the police. Bring concrete evidence to the court of law. Bring concrete evidence to the church elders.

  19. June 2005, UPND’s Ackson Sejani, devises the Ma.pati.zya formula.
It was, a violent panga method unleashed on MMD to thwart outsiders’ attempts at entering UPND master bedroom during a bye election to replace Ms. Judith Grace Sialumba (UPND), who died one month earlier.
Sejani won the elections, the system philosophy works effectively to their advantage, but leaves a trail of people dead and many injured.

  20. Take evidence to the police, which police station , are you serious?? Kaiser Zulu or JJ will come give police Constables a beating of their life. Kanganja will dare not touch these PF cadres lol Or worse still, the police officers will b fired – remember Sesheke formula!!

  21. 2013, Nkombo campaigning for Regina Musokotwane (UPND) in Livingstone, used brute force that led to bye election postponement for one month. Eventually, Lawrence Evans (PF) won the seat which Lukulo Katombora’s (MMD), left vacant on legal issues.

  23. Recently, there are calls to effectively repeat the same method by Gary Chilala Nkombo as used 16 years ago. To date perpetrators have neither apologised nor condemned the act from inner circle. In fact they have justified it.
    Business as usual.
As much as it takes two to tangle, it also takes one to back out to avoid confrontations. Let’s have peace and love.
Blaming one another is like fueling fire when you aim to quench it.
THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHT, MR. KYAMBALESA

  24. IF ONE CLAIMS TO HAVE BEEN VOTED IN BY THE PEOPLE TO GOVERNOR THEM, THEN THE DECENT THING TO DO WHEN HE FAILS TO PROTECT THEM AS PART OF HIS OBLIGATION AFTER TAKING OATH. MIND YOU HE IS PAID, GETS FREE FOOD, TISSUE, BEERS, ACCOMMODATION, SECURITY ETC AT THE COST OF THE TAX PAYER, FOR WHAT? RATHER THAN TURN STATE HOUSE INTO A CRIME SCENE, WHERE VIOLENCE IS PLANNED AND EXECUTED. LET DECENT CITIZENS COME AND CLEAN THE MESS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.
    SIMPLE, NO ROCKET SCIENCE!

  25. All this is a con job and LT is involved in it and seem to sanction what the impostor is doing on their website…its clear this author is raising an issue with the impostor and you are printing it as if its happening elsewhere but its in your own back yard which you moderate!!

  26. Why is this tribalist not mentioning Namwala and chief Mukuni which are well known centers of tribalism and tribally triggered violence. PF may have failed in a few areas, but they scored in many.
Trouble with UPND supporters is always saying the PF has done nothing even when driving on a road made by the PF or being attended to in a hospital built by the PF. Theirs is just focused on voting for a fellow tribesman.
For now the PF is still tonnes better than the tribal UPND and that is why they shall still win the Coming elections.

  27. Not sure if this is the KZ who is a civil servant or a low level troll who insults day in and out. Generally incoherent sentences. The police and PF cadres have killed all the UPND SYMPATHISERS to date, how then do you blame HH. This idea of blaming the victim must stop!

Bembas (il collusion with done easterners ) are practicing tribalism openly but you keep on saying HH! The civil service.,army, diplomatic Corps, parastatals all loaded with people from one region. What do you people want. Say it?!

  28. Comment Number 21: “Let me warn you that we will deal with you.” My uncle, Kyambalesa, writes as an individual. But someone calling himself or herself as “Kaizar Zulu” seems to be a coward who finds strength in the concept of “we.” Why don’t you have the courage to say, “Let me warn you that [I] … will deal with you”? By the way, your comments are akin to those of either a deranged or senile person …
