Bishop Joe Imakando continues to get criticism over his Sunday Sermon calling for change of Government

Share

New Congress Party President Pastor Peter Chanda has joined people condemning in strongest terms the statement issued by Bread of International overseer Bishop Joe Imakando insinuating that there is need for change in the country.

Addressing the press in Lusaka, Pastor Chanda bemoaned that the clergy both in the country and abroad have abandoned the preaching of the gospel, but have focused on preaching politics and elections.

He lamented that prophets from Zambia and some from Nigeria are busy preaching about what will happen before and after the August 12th general elections.

“Bishop Imakando is a man I have respected for a long time, but today he has proved that he is politically inclined to a named political party,” he said.

“The Bishop is on record of having said that there is need for change because certain things are not working out,”.

Pastor Chanda said the Bishop is also on record of saying that he has heard the complaints of the Zambian people from all walks of life.

The New Congress Party Leader has since challenged Bishop Imakando to leave the pulpit and join politics now that he has proved to the nation that he is a politician and not a clergy.

“Men of God need to understand that there is a limit to which they can do things when operating as clergy,” Pastor Chanda said.

He stated that it is not right for the clergy to mislead the Zambian people, further calling upon church leaders to make responsible statements.

“It is morally wrong for a man of God to begin to campaign with impunity,” he said.

Pastor Chanda has since called on the Bishop to retract the statement and act neutral.

In his sermon last Sunday, Bishop Imakando dedicated his preaching time calling for change because Zambians were suffering and that the month of August was the time for a change of government.

Bishop Imakando said in his sermon that he had interacted with all people across the country who are complaining that there are no medicines in the clinic, their businesses are suffering because of the depreciation of the Kwacha and so it was time to change for what is not working.

According to Bishop Imakando, there was something wrong in the country and therefore there was a need for change.

  2. I’ve been saying it all along, some of these Catholic Bishops and their groupings and some pastors in Zambia including the so called Seers are satanists in disguise, wolves in sheep’s clothing. Jesus told us, Satan masquerades as an angel of light what more his servants. He showed us how to identify these devil worshipers in disguise.

23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

  3. When you notice so called men of God only preoccupied with affairs of man and not of God on the pulpit, know then who they really serve, the devil, that serpent that was cast out of heaven whose time before judgement is short.

  4. What is Pastor Chanda talking about if the Bishop Joe Imakanda had spoken in favour President Lungu he would not have commented. I believe Bishop Joe Imakando was speaking out his mind because he could pretend that all was ok on the ground when the opposite is the truth. Some Clergy men had teamed up for President in the past now are no where near Lungu he is a lone now campaigning all over the country, they are sitting on fence to see how the situation will unfold after 12/08/21. I don’t see anything wrong with the statement from Bishop Joe Imakando, he was merely mentioning the truth. on the ground. Some Pastors are there to line their pockets while pretending to be praying for the leaders and peace for the country.

  5. With respect to Pastor Peter Chanda, you should know that life and economy moves in cycles. When things are not going right changes have to be made. The timing of change this season is very visible. The wind which is about to sweep Zambia will not be stopped by PF or any party. What Bishop Imakando has advised is right direction.

  6. He is entitled to his opinion. Mulekeni atase, the more you criticise him the more you strengthen his message. Instead of busy criticising, you should be pleading with him to sway his vote. COVID 19 has had an impact on some of these pretenders so politics of the belly is what they know best.

  7. Pastor Peter Chanda You have seen what has been currently happening in Zambia, how HH and UPND has been treated by the government. And you have been silent. Bishop Imakando was giving guidance or direction what to do when things are going wrong. When things are not working out, find solution.

  10. Bishop Joe Imakando’s Sin was to say that if something is broken then it needs to be fixed. Change is inevitable post August 12. Zambia can’t go on like this. Change is the spice of life. On August 12 ECL and PF kuyabele.

  11. What an opportunity the electorate have! It is your time to let those who have mismanaged your affairs to retire in national interest. No vundu akulu — that’s the name of the game. Everyone has a boss. Na inunso ticosatu!!

  12. The ONLY church leader that I know of that has NOT accepted the “empowerment” from Edgar China Lungu. Brave man – but he can hold his head up high, and talk to the new president after August 12 without lying!

  13. I THINK ZAMBIANS ARE NOT GOOD CHRISTIANS WHO DO NOT READ THE SCRIPTURE BETWEEN THE LINES. POLITICS STARTED IN THE BIBLE TIMES AND GOD USED TO ASK PEOPLE WHO TO LEAD THEM. JESUS CRITICIZED KING HEROLD SEVERAL TIMES EVEN TO CALL HIM FOX (WORLD DOG). WHAT IS WRONG IF A PASTOR TALKS ABOUT HIS OPINION ON WHAT HE THINKS IS RIGHT? WILL JESUS CHRIST IF HE WAS PRESENT TODAY WOULD KEEP QUIET WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION PREVAILING IN OUR COUNTRY?
PASTOR READ YOUR BIBLE PROPERLY AND DONT DECIEVE PEOPLE.

  14. Bishop was just stating facts and giving the much needed guidance to the nation. He is not a hypocrite but rather, a very honest and tested man of God who cares for the well being of all Zambians.

Zambians are suffering and that is the damn truth.

  15. Zambia needs change, Twanaka nabamwankole, bapompwe mushibile nsala, babubi munda. Change is written in all corners of Zambia.

  17. Bishop Imakando is a man full of wisdom. Be very careful what you say and dare not attack him but rather reflect on what has been preached to the nation. It is very timely in my view.

  18. It is one thing to ask for change; it is another thing to see it come. Some things are far fetched, but because they are repeatedly discussed they look like they are already there. Imakando is free to express his personal inner thoughts.

  19. JONATHAN IMAKANDO, THE SON TO BISHOP IMAKANDO WORKS FOR HH COMPANY CALLED AFRICAN LIFE FINANCIAL SERVICES AS ONE OF THE BOSSES THERE. SO IMAKANDO SNR IS PROTECTING HIS BREAD AND BUTTER, JUST WATCH HIM. HE WILL BE AMONG THOSE TO COMFORT THE HECHI HECHI

  20. The man’s brain is a smooth as an apple. it would be a miracle expect useful data from such nonentities.when those pastors for a certain drunkard said they support him.no one said leave the pulpit.and when broke chiefs endorse him; no one says cheif Join politics.before opening your mouth gentlemen attempt to use your brain..you don’t have to succeed; we will give you credit for trying since I your parte brains are decorations

  21. And the pastor is also.into politics leading a political party yet condemning another for a political remark . Whatever they smoke some people.should.share

  22. The assumption by many is that Bishop Imakando is in support of HH. Huge NO! We want a God fearing man like Pastor Mumba.

  23. Another one man party of Peter chanda relying on handouts from lungu for survival who knows that if lungu falls then his handouts will stop.

  24. A man is entitled to his opinion, the pulpit and the messengers of the Gospel are reserved for the Things of God. Jesus said, give to Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser and give to God what belongs to God. When a person portends to use a stage and audience intended for the things of God to involve it in the affairs of men it is the work of Satan. This is the fruit Jesus spoke of when he said you shall know them by their fruit. Throw yourself at this stone and see what befalls you.

  25. Ati, “the clergy both in the country and abroad have abandoned the preaching of the gospel, but have focused on preaching politics and elections.” What is preaching the gospel if you don’t touch on the social issues affecting the people? Ba pastor Chandra, you want us to live in the air? Give us a break please. You’re fake mudala.

  26. Forget that cadre who calls himself a man of GOD in fact if him can be called that then we all are fit for the title of Bishop.
He simply wants to unseat Sumaili. Manje mwanyala. Alebwelelapo.

  27. CONGRATULATIONS BISHOP IMAKANDO FOR COMING OUT BOLDLY AND TELLING OFF THOSE WHO SWORE TO DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION BUT HAVE TURNED OUT TO BE ITS WORST RAPISTS!

  28. When HH and UPND assumes power, I hope they will have to make do with these so called ‘BRIEFCASE’ political parties. Deregister them all who do not meet the criteria of having at least a following of 1000 people. Discourage all clergy men and women from belonging to any political party. Zap out the ministry of Religious Affairs. It doesn’t serve any purpose but is used as a political tool by the PF to win sympathy votes.
Here you got a useless pastor called Peter Chanda seemingly in opposition championing what Imakando said. I don’t follow Bishop Imakando often but on this statement. He is spot on. Change is coming to Zambia. We are all Zambians let us give a big vote to HH and the UPND alliance. Zambia need these men to steer Zambia out of its present economic doldrums.
