United Party for National Development (UPND) Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa has dismissed assertions that President Hakainde Hichilema has breached the Constitution or any law in his work or appointments.

Reacting to assertions by Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) President Sean Tembo that the President has appointed a person who is facing criminal charges for the courts, Mr Mweetwa said that the newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Fanwell Siandenge has no pending criminal cases before any competent court of law.

Mr Mweetwa called on the citizens to ignore PeP President, Mr. Sean Tembo as he was a busy body.

And UPND National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso has warned PeP leader Sean Tembo to desist from issuing careless and unwarranted attacks on President Hakainde Hichilema.

UPND youths across the country wish to advise, PeP leader Sean Tembo to desist from issuing careless and unwarranted attacks on President Hakainde Hichilema and wondered if he was he is being sponsored by the Patriotic Front and its surrogates who are mute to comment on national matters for fear of being arrested hastily, knowing that they have possible corruption cases and must return money for the citizens as indicated by President Hakainde Hichilema.

In a statement to the media, Mr. Liswaniso said that Mr. Tembo who he accused to have taken issues so personal to an extent of demonizing the tribe of Mr Hichilema, would force the UPND youths to take on him thus making him credible opposition when infact he is not.

As Youths across the country, we have vowed no one is going to mislead President Hakainde Hichilema on his path to deliver the aspirations of the Zambian people.

” As Youths across the country, we have vowed no one is going to mislead President Hakainde Hichilema on his path to deliver the aspirations of the Zambian people.

“We are on the ground in both rural and urban communities to interact with the people on the UPND well spelt manifesto to rebuild and reunite Zambia.

“But we want to caution Pep leader Sean Tembo, Raphael Nakacinda not to abuse their freedom under the new dawn and divide the country based on their illogical rantings against UPND.

“President Hakainde Hichilema’s victory to the highest public office is through the courtesy of the Zambian people and confidence in his leadership. Since power lies in the people, President Hichilema and his team will continue to give credit to the Zambian people and a real celebration is that in the new dawn everyone is going to be free and enjoying liberties and equal opportunities,” he said

  1. Let Liswaniso refute Mr Tembo’s allegations with facts than behaving like the just booted out PAFU cadres. I expected more information and facts to be stated by Mr Mweetwa, how and when the deputy IG’s case was removed from criminal records… is it because the people he was jointly charged were released under Nolle?….Pls Cornelius give us more information, Liwaniso should talk later.

So I thought this cadre behaviour died with the PF and ECL. “Warning”, to do what? You feel unhappy go to court or debate Sean Tembo intellectually or ignore him if he’s hallucinating. Why the panic, you have just been given a mandate by the people so why being worked over by Sean Tembo? 50 years is a long time to respond to every “noise”.
@ “youths” at 50 years old my a$s!

  7. Sean Tembo is not insulting anyone, he is simply doing his job as an opposition. Tame your cadres and learn to co-exist in a democratic dispensation. This is what we expected from UPND as an opposition but instead we got politics of boycotts and insults. You created a movement of opposition parties to undermine the ruling governments therefore you should be grateful that ST is trying to bring about issue based politics. These are real issues Sean is highlighting which require answers.

  8. Mweetwa is among the people who are smart and stand on their own feet. HH he will need him for truthful and constructive criticism. He is probably the best future leader of UPND after HH flips the cards.

To the youth making vows, please direct your energy to create your future. Success starts with a concise thought process and visualising your future and not from the politicians.

HH has been through a lot such as being locked up in prison cells. He is now a powerful figure and he can take care of himself. Those vows you are making for HH, will gain you nothing. Its just the Cadre Mentality and Hot Air which robs you Time, Energy, Creation, Focus and Experience.

  9. This is what we Voted for . The real Dictatorship has just began. This UPND people will be just disappering without even trace their bodies . The UPND thinks now they are untaouchable and no one should talk about HH negatively .ECL was better if PF was like the way UPND is behaving just few hours in power HH wouldn’t have won elections. We are now in UNIP error where the slogan was UNIP mulilo uwaikatako apya

  12. Those threats from youth chairman reminds me of those PaFu days.Need I say democracy is not in our blood? The president has publicly opened up to dissenting views. But what do we see? Antagonism and near insults in the name of offering checks and balances. And now…, carders can’t take it any more. I guess they will skin this Tembo guy alive if he continues on his path? Is this not how democracy was killed in Africa?

  13. What the UPND must realize is that when people make comments on matters of public interest they’re not being malicious. Mweetwa knows that these matters will be raised in Parliament next week and Mutale Nakumango will be called to give a statement on the floor of the House. How was Siandenge cleared when he ran away? It seems the UPND are very good at hiding people. Where is Pheluna and Milton Hatembo? Are they still hiding from Nawakwi or they’re in UPND custody?

  16. Only @Spaka and @Zedpoorpeople make good sense of understanding the article and the message from Gilbert Liswaniso. GB didn’t mean to send cops to arrest Sean Tembo like the way it was in the past PF regime. I think not, I think Liswaniso is rather asking Sean Tembo to tame his tongue and criticize constructively. People should realize that ST is but an empty tin who is seeking attention via social media. Sean Tembo has every right to comment and or criticize the current government but it should be constructive and meaningful. Not just rants and misguided useless rhetorics, we need do debate substantively. It’s also sad to see many bloggers on this site completely turn a blind eye on what is important. All of sudden and very quickly people wanna turn tables on President and the ruling…

  17. >>>the ruling UPND alliance. Take a deep breath guys and come back to your senses. President HH is at the helm now and let’s the give the man and the respect he so deserves. But continue to give the ruling party a run for their money. Checks and balances all day. Just in a more dignified and diplomatic way. <<<<

  18. YOU CANNOT JUST DROP CHARGES WHILE HAVING CHIBWANTU AT COMMUNITY HOUSE
    Sean Tembo wrote
“The UPND are saying that Deputy IG Siandenge has no pending criminal charges. But where did the charges disappear to since there is no court record of the charges being dismissed or dropped by the State? Even if he was pardoned, proper procedure should’ve been followed. The suspect should have been presented before court. We need to respect the rule of law. You cannot just drop charges while having chibwantu at community house.”

  19. Please sean watch your mouth you are being perceived to be attacking the tonga tribe when you issue careless remarks like ‘he is running govt like a personal farm full of cows’ , now this has not gone well with general mosquito who is thinking of applying the rules of engagement. Wapya baisa

  20. WHY ARE WE ENTERTAINING THIS NONESENSE, PROTECTION OF OUR VOTE NEEDS TO CONTINUE.
    THE CRIMINALS HAVE REFROUPUPED
AND THEIR GAME, THEY NEED TO BE HIT HARDER!

  21. Is Tembo going to receive another shameful beating from cadres? Are the youths threatening Sean in order to opt for violence? Why haven’t we heard calls to condemn the threats?

Youths have a right to protect their president’s decisions; the opposition can proactively check the governance of the UPND.

  22. OK No point for Liswaniso to Behave in this manner. This is similar to PF unprofessional behaviors we don’t want repeated again. Tone down and be Professional than behaving like the same Sean Tembo. Use Facts than emotions as Zambians are tired of such Nonsense.

  23. In a democracy, an “empty tin” such as Sean Tembo is free to “seek attention” by making noise “constructively or non-constructively”. That is what we all fought for. Mr Liswaniso should understand that Democracy is noisy. It is the noise and the fresh air of freedom that produces solutions. Mr Liswaniso, you can not threaten any one. In Zambia even the police have to now be catious and respectiful when they warn somebody. People like Kaunda, Nalumino Mundia, Chiluba , Hakainde, Mucheleka and countless other detainies have paid a high price for our freedom. We are not going to make any further payments for freedom. Since you are the government, you can answer Mr Tembo or leave him alone to rant. It is his freedom.
