Nkwazi Beat Nkana To Take Week One Lead

Nkana have kicked off the FAZ Super Division season with a home loss to Nkwazi in Sunday’s Week 1 match at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Nkwazi were 3-2 winners over Kalampa as coach Beston Chambeshi handed debuts to four new players.

The Police side took a 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes thanks to early goals registered by Christopher Zulu and Nelson Mwila.

Zulu put Nkwazi in front after three minutes when beating new keeper Bradley Mweene with Mwila’s goal coming four minutes later.

Nkana’s Jacob Ngulube missed a chance to reduce the deficit in the 13th minute after shooting slightly wide from outside following a solo effort.

Striker Alex Ng’onga reduced the score-line to 2-1 in the 25th minute after Nkana had changed the tempo of the game.

Nkwazi took a 2-1 lead into the break.

Ng’onga pushed in the equaliser to make it 2-2 after being set up by second half substitute Diamond Chikwekwe on 71 minutes.

Stephen Mutama had the final say on the result as he netted the winner for Nkwazi in the 75th minute to make it 3-2 after Mweene purried the ball in his path.
