It was a good Sunday for Zanaco and Kabwe Warriors who made promising starts to their respective continental campaigns on the road.
In the CAF Champions League, Zanaco made a very bright start in their preliminary round, first leg away match against Akonangui of Equatorial Guinea.
Zanaco beat Akonangui 2-0 away in Ebebiyin and head into their September 18 final leg fixture at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka sitting in poll position to qualify for next month’s pre-group stage.
Both goals came within the opening thirty minutes of the first half.
Evans Katema put Zanaco ahead in the 14th minute and Ernest Mbewe wrapped-up the day with the final goal in the 31st minute.
And in Madagascar, Kabwe Warriors drew 0-0 away to CFFA in their CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg match.
Warriors hosts CFFA on September 19 at Heroes Stadium.
