Gay and Lesbian Practices cannot be condoned in Zambia-HH

Share

President Hakainde Hichilema has said that gay and lesbian practices cannot be condoned in the country because Zambia is a Christian nation, adding that Zambia can only realign sound democratic values with other countries.

Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today before departure for Monze on a working visit, President Hichilema dismissed as baseless claims that he has not come out strongly against western countries perpetuating gay, lesbians, bisexual and transgender rights.

Accompanied by Fourth President Rupiah Banda, President Hichilema further told ZNBC News that there is a need to document all Historical Sites in the country before declaring them as Heritage Sites.

And, Fourth President, Rupiah Banda has praised President Hichilema for his stance to enhance national unity and to recognize freedom fighters.

Mr. Banda also observed that historical sites where the struggle for independence was directed must be cherished.

Meanwhile, State House has clarified that President Hakainde Hichilema did NOT taunt or reference his predecessors directly or indirectly during his arrival yesterday from the Conference of Parties 26 summit in Glasgow, Scotland.

Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Bwalya says President Hichilema emphasized how crucially important it is that the new administration shifts the balance of resources from the central government to the communities.

Mr. Bwalya says the President has also indicated that the only way to deliver people-centered development is allowing the people to be in charge of how resources are dispensed at local level as well as be accountable for the use of the resources.

In a statement to ZNBC News today, Mr. Bwalya said President Hichilema and the new dawn administration’s policy on decentralization is aimed at bringing an end to the counterproductive norm of centralized government bureaucracy.

Mr. Bwalya says this has historically acted as a catalyst for corruption and theft for public resources limiting development dividends.

  1. I don’t know why he always feels the need to comment on this issue there is a big between not condoning homosexual practices and recognising their rights.
Please stop issuing briefings on airport tarmacs…its ironic that you are coming from a climate conference and you are welcomed by hundreds of people on the tarmac who have burned fuel to get to the airport. What wrong with just being welcomed by the duty manager at KKIA and if you want a press briefing do it at State House. Emmerson Mnangagwa had thousands of people waiting for him at the airport!!

  2. The gay and lesbian practices thing is a non issue in Zambia. Its only brought up by PF and ECL sympathizers who have nothing important to talk about.
National Debt , unemployment and the fight against corruption should be your focus now.

  11. I am half Ngoni/Bemba. I can speak fluent and pure Ngoni & Bemba and I am very proud of my two heritages or tribes. There is a reason why these two tribes are the most spoken and understood local languages in Zambia……. Its obvious HH is the one that asked RB to go accompany him. Can you see how your God (HH) was kneeling down in Chinsali & Chipata begging and thanking them for helping him win the elections to the point of embarrassing himself. Insult us now, at your own peril and danger. Come 2026, the Northern & Eastern Base will teach you a lesson. And let’s see if your God will win. You are the most un appreciative, devilish tribe in Zambia. Imwe Ba Mambala & Ba Shonongo !!!

  12. PF was, is, has been and will be evil all the time. They said HH will bring homosexuality, HH is a Freemason, they faked opinion polls that the overwhelmingly rejected PF would win elections, they faked defections on the abused ZNBC TV, they bought bicycles for all headmen in the country, pure bribes, they stopped opposition from campaigning, they bought fire tenders at one million dollars each, a toll gate(a basic shelter) was 4.3 million dollars one, why PF is still talking is beyond comprehension, dying with No issues. HH is a darling to Zambians

  13. @ 1- Tarino Orange: Correct I agree with you on this matter. New Dawn should mean changes Mr. President why these pressing Briefings at the Airport. Have you thought of Fuel Burnt for the cars those people Driver??? Mr. President let’s walk the Talk. Please stop this tradition of Airport Press Conferences. Do that at Statehouse. PLEASE STOP and SHOULD BE NOW. Yesterday we had people at the Airport and Today again??? It’s a Contradiction to the Climate Change Agenda.

  14. The gay rights will be effected any time soon. If hh doesn’t effect gay rights, you will soon hear all the pledges have been cancelled by the westerners.

“The gay rights will be effected any time soon. If hh doesn’t effect gay rights, you will soon hear all the pledges have been cancelled by the westerners…”

Well , to avoid cancelling of pledges by westerners meant to benefit zambia,……

HEHH better come up with more inventive ways of dealing with the human rights of gay people and traditional values of Zambians………

  16. Why can’t the constitutional court come in? In most countries including SA and USA it was the courts that made it possible. Gay rights are human rights; there’s no one who can stop them.

    1. With all due respect. You need to refrain from this attitude of being the person that wants to have the closing sound bites. In as much as you have the right to defend HH or stand for UPND. And I encourage you to defend HH & UPND Policies by all means.

Saulosi !! However, also has the right to express his opinions without being told to shut up and return back after six months.
What makes you realise that your voice is more vital than others. We should come to luskatimes to Educate, Motivate & Enlighten each other. It’s okay and health to agree to disagree. And not to demean those that don’t agree with us. That’s the essence of debate.

  18. 2. If I post comments and someone does not agree with me, then it’s OK and healthy. All I need to do is to listen their points of view, perspective and maybe learn something. And if I don’t agree with their observations, I will still respect their views, without returning and calling them rats, morons and stupid.

You and I had this exchange on Lusakatimes on August 28, 2021 At 12:02 pm, when you called all people who believe in God to be stupid. I told you to keep to your own views and let those who believe in God cherish their beliefs and dogma without demeaning them

Enjoy The Evening & Keeping Debating !!!

  20. Hichilema your party is a member of LGBTQ therefore you will not deceive us. To all useless under5 support if you think iam not been sincere just google members of the sata.nic organization, you will see upnd ,Hichilema, tony Blair institute support homosexuality lesbianism and gay rights therefore his trip to Zambia was the need to allow such dem.onic activities in our society, this is unacceptable because such is a treat to family. Hichilema you may hide from the people of Zambia but you can’t hide from Jehovah, for your information you can never bury the truth it always comes out time will tell.

  21. All of us know there are secret gay and lesbian relationships just like straight people who are involved in illicit affairs. They do it secretly. Theft is not allowed but we know there are thieves in this country and they do it secretly . Even white collar thieves are there

  22. This issue is taking us nowhere and the sooner we stop giving it prominence the better. Time waster that’s what I call it.
