UPND will rule Zambia for a long period of time until Jesus comes-Matambo

Headlines UPND will rule Zambia for a long period of time until Jesus...

United Party for National Development (UPND) Copperbelt Chairman Elisha Matambo has declared that the party will rule Zambia for a long period of time until Jesus comes.

During a party mobilisation meeting in Ndola’s Kabushi Constituency on Sunday, Mr Matambo, the Copperbelt Minister, said the people of Zambia will continue believing in the UPND for many years to come.

Mr Matambo said the New Dawn Government has achieved a lot in the last seven months it has been in Government.

He cited Constituency Development Fund (CDF) increment to K25.7 Billion, teacher recruitment, health workers recruitment and provision of free education as some of the UPND Government’s achievements.

Mr Matambo challenged UPND members to explain the New Dawn Government’s achievement since forming Government in August 2021.

He said the UPND must continue party mobilisation in readiness for future elections.

“We have come here for party mobilisation. We must mobilise the party continuously until the elections come. I am sending you my children to go and make branches. Go and make polling stations committees. Go and explain to Zambians what we are doing. I am sure Zambians are intelligent and want peace. If anyone wants to bring problems we won’t allow them because Zambia is a beacon of peace,” Mr Matambo said.

Mr Matambo urged the opposition to allow President Hakainde Hichilema to rule peacefully.

He said the opposition, especially the Patriotic Front should not make Zambia un-governable.

“You were saying he won’t rule Zambia but I used to ask if you were God. Allow President Hichilema to rule accordingly because the people of Zambia have given him the mandate. Let him rule in peace. You had your chance to rule for ten years. Why can’t you allow us to rule well. Let me tell you, the God that allowed him (President Hichilema) to win the elections, will allow him to finish his first term. Hakainde’s second term will be smooth and when he finishes the second term of office we (UPND)will pick another President because we are going to govern this nation well. The person to take over from President Hichilema will also win. Another five years will elapse and again Zambians will retain us in power, by the time you will realise ninshi ba Yesu nabesa,” Mr. Matambo said.

The UPND Copperbelt Provincial Chairman further warned PF members against personal attacks on President Hichilema.

Mr Matambo said PF members should not abuse the freedom of speech and assembly they are enjoying to insult the Head of State.

He charged that the PF should be apologising to the people of Zambia for its bad deeds when in Government instead of criticizing the New Dawn administration.

“We will not allow anyone to insult President Hakainde Hichilema. Dare us. Try to open your mouth and insult the President, you will see what will happen to you. We have been sleeping for so long. Stop insulting the President. I am telling all the ten provinces to ensure that no one insults the President Hakainde Hichilema in their localities,” he said.

Mr Matambo added:” We are not immune to criticism but do it in a constructive way and have limits. Let me tell you, if you want to make this country ungovernable you will have yourselves to blame. We stood the test of time when we were in the opposition. We faced pangas, we faced guns, and we faced everything so if you want to come out and destabilise the Government we will tie both your hands and legs with wires. Let the President rule without disturbances.”

During the meeting, Mr. Matambo received over 100 new members who said they were mostly from the PF.

He urged UPND members to welcome new members while asking the newcomers to respect people they have found in the ruling party.

  3. Don’t play with Jesus or god. You will die before you even celebrate one year in office including your f00Iish president.

  4. I am sure Matambo wants to find out whether or not UPND is still popular. But there are better ways of doing this than annoying them. It is the people that will ultimately decide whether they should wait for Jesus second coming before UPND leaves the political scene. How smart for Matambo who seems to be now drunk with power!

  5. Like a stuck record on that His Master’s Voice they repeat word for word what their leader HH said and then receive a salary. Ati:
Mr Matambo challenged UPND members to explain the New Dawn Government’s achievement since forming Government in August . We heard that from HH and now his unimaginative minister is repeating it.
Are these the politicians fate has given us? Lishamo sana

There is no one on the horizon to compare with HH…………..

The bar is set beyond anyone featuring in PF at the moment………

  7. It took more than 5 years for PF to become arrogant. Alas, UPND has become arrogant from day one. I really wonder why people become so myopic when they go into government.

  8. JESUS WHO DIED FOR US THEN CAME BACK 3 DAYS LATER KIKIKI
THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS THESE OUTBURSTS FROM MINIONS
UPND WILL FALL THE ONLY QUESTION IS WHEN

  9. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH UPND EXCEPT HH AND THE VOTERS CHOSE THE WRONG PEOPLE TO REPRESENT THE PARTY
IT IS TIME FOR THEMN TO GO NOW NOW NOW

  10. Why are we so cursed to end up with Fat Bodies with Small Brains as our leaders? Jesus please come quickly and save us from mental anguish.

  11. I understand most commentors are PF,so is Lisaka times but, truth be told, HH legally & Successfully ill stay at the helm longer than any president in our history -excluding KK cos that was a different story in the end. And Chiluba stayed longer but he was not successful and people despised him in the end. Where as with HH, well my guy the man can alone be loved the more he goes on. He has that charisma through his advanced Leadership style. Half of those hating him thie year will equally love him 3 years from now, as by then, I dont think that your children to pay a single cent to go into UNZA. I dont think you guys will ever import Maize,Tomatoes, Onion or Beef ever again. Lets chat about this topic again next year and year after pls.

  12. This is insanity and backward thinking, I hope his fellow members of the party will not condone these silly ideas and pronouncements.

  13. “Rule” does not sound politically correct in this respect for public servants. According to “rule” definition, it says: “control of or dominion over an area or people”. It sounds like dictators. Wouldn’t “serve” be more appropriate for public servants to express to the people of what they are doing for them: What is the definition of “serve” – “perform duties or services for (another person or an organization)”. Government officials are our public servants, and they should be “serving” the people who elected them into public office. We elected and entrusted public servants to develop our country, to bring order, entrusted our fiscus to benefit all.

Absolutely, let’s give HH the opportunity to serve the people of Zambia. It is too soon to start judging him for not fixing…

  14. Im very certain that the minister said it out of over-excitement but, there is a very deep reality to it. People will always want their liberator to stay around longer right? I dont know about prices going high now and cost of living hitting hard on you now, but in the end all i know is abt the man is that. He is increasing now only stabilize it soon after- if you ve a businesman next to you -ask him to explain this to you in detail. Thankyou

  15. STOP MAKING EXCUSES WE AND HH APPOINTED !D10TS FULL STOP
IT IS NOW TIME TO CHANGE THE CABINET
THERE ARE INTELLIGENT PEOPLE OUT THERE WE NEED THEM BROUGHT IN

  16. The arrogance abounds. It is like no one learned from those who thought they were infallible and offered their private parts to be sliced in the event of UPND loss. Just wait until Jesus hears about this…

  17. Just wait until Jesus hears about this… ???
Cut out his tongue or shrink his privates to make him more modest ?
    I dint know

  18. This is not a good statement which should come from a very senior party and government official in a democratic nation. But one can see a pattern of thinking especially if one looks at what our other senior grz official levy ngoma said about the opposition. This the party must control but politicians are strange creatures. What we think is wrong they look at it differently. They only learn when it is too late.

  19. Repeating what PF used to say. Look where they are now. Forget about how long you will be in power but concentrate on what achievements you will leave behind.

  20. They look very dirty and unhealthy to start with…let them take care of their bodies…yakkk….umuselu…..and these are the type of moroooons who dont even know how to brush their teeth

  21. The level of arrogance by the UPND is alarming . UPND govt needs to realize that the 2.8 Million votes they received were not all from its members. If elections were held today with the current hardships people are facing, UPND would be shocked how much support they have lost. Zambian electorate shouldn`t be taken for granted.

  22. Imwe naimwe………..

    That was just a metaphor………

    You people believing anything………….

Somethings are are just common sense , that the man was meaning a long long time to rule………..

Think of how to develop zambia instead of looking for meaning in every word uttered………

  23. OK, once you start blaspheming, you should know that you are on your way out. Kwame Nkhruma told Ghanaians, ‘Seek ye first the political kingdom and all these things will be added to you.’ It was not long before that arrogance saw him out of office and into exile. A promising light in Africa, extinguished. UPND has too many mouthpieces. HH should start cracking the whip.

  24. Yes Tikki if one uses wrong words it means they are too lazy or too thick to study. Theydont know the right words being thick theyresort to wrong words.

  25. #Spaka 8, Who among the other opposition party leaders can be electable with HH and UPND rule. Let any Zambian on this plat form name one, just one. The non response to this challenge will be the answer.

  26. 6 months in govt and braggadocio has kicked in…typical Zambian mentality really laughable..I can only imagine this time next year.

  27. That arrogance stinks to high heavens. Be warned that pride always comes before a fall ba UPND.

  28. Now I see why Matambo and Kabuswe are behaving in that manner, they think they will be in office forever. They’ll meet their Jesus soon

  29. Mr Matambo’s comments show his dullness and naivity thinking. I feel pity for mother Zambia. Imagine, these are the kind of leaders we have entrusted to spearhead our economic prowess. Bwafya sana. Anyway, we will wait for 2026.

  30. The bible says the rebellious people of Israel could wait for a God appointed leader but cried to the Prophet Samuel to hasten and give them a new King. So SAUL who God did not annoint was chosen and they began to cry. Meanwhile God rejected the new leader in the name of Saul and David was then chosen. Not all leaders are God chosen. Let God decide.

  31. I support UPND and HH, but this caliber of ministers in HH’s administration leaves much to be desired. This guy evidently has no clue about freedom of speech, and he thinks he can threaten Zambians, like little children, not to speak their minds. It makes me question his qualifications to be minister. Bwana minister, let the people speak. As long as someone is not threatening the president’s life, they have a right to say whatever they want to say. Insults cannot be criminalized. even though they can be discouraged. So stop with your ignorant empty threats. I support HH, but I wouldn’t support jailing anyone for insulting him.

  32. THE BEATLES STATED SIMILAR SENTIMENTS EQUATING TO OUR LORD JESUS,
IN THE BIBLE HEROD WAS EQUATED TO BE GOD WHEN PERSECUTING APOSTLES.
    AND THEIR ENDINGS ARE BAD
    DON’T PREDICT THAT O UPND
LOOK AT WHAT HAPPED TO UNIP !!!!!!!!

  33. Don’t be brainwashed jst bcos yo party won the election, na ba Lungu ni Lesa wasalile, whr is he? Stop such brainless sentiments bcos everything is in the hand of the electorates, ad if u hv more than one vote, u’ll won ’til……???

  34. Awe sure, people indeed don’t learn. Didn’t we just remove PF from power precisely for such arrogance?
Imwe ba upnd, just eight months in power and you think you shall rule until the end of time? Only the Lord Jesus Christ shall be able to rescue zambians from upnd rule?
    Talk about blasphemy.
It’s becoming clear that upnd is losing touch with reality and their shock will be worse than that of PF.

  35. Advice to Lusaka Times. The slow pace at which you`re moderating Comments is a detriment to a lively debate. You can`t be taking more than 24 hours just moderating a comment. You can delete any vulgar language and discipline the culprit if you want to promote a clean debate. That`s a sure way of increasing traffic to your site if debate isn`t unknowingly curtailed.

  36. Childishly statement it seems like you want to banish freedom of speech and saying until Jesus comes it’s a myth where is he going to come from!!! Stop lying and do the job the ppl will appreciate you when you live office sir!!!
