Zambia Police have re-opened investigations into the gassing cases

Share

INSPECTOR General of Police Lemmy Kajoba has disclosed that Police have re-opened investigations into the gassing cases that characterised the country sometime in the past.

Mr. Kajoba said most cases called for further investigations as they were not logically concluded.

He said the perpetrators and all those who played a role in the gassing incidences should never feel at easy as the cases were still active with the Police.

Mr. Kajoba said this yesterday during the official opening of the Criminal Investigators workshop held at Zambia Police Training College in Lusaka.

“As you may be aware, we have re-opened investigations into the gassing cases that characterised our country sometime in the past and were not logically concluded,” Mr. Kajoba said.

He added that his Command was in a hurry to build capacity for Criminal Investigations Officers in order for them to catch up and effectively combat both old and emerging crime trends.

Mr Kajoba said a number of cases were under investigations such as the alleged abduction of Pamela Chisupa and other cases of interest including the abuse of social media among others.

  1. How many years was this? What a joke! Total indecisiveness. You have NO chance of finding anything. What a waste of time and money…….

  2. Kajoba is only instructed. So apa he has someone in mind.

The target is honestly PF supporters. Balefwaya uku kolopa ba PF bonse.

  3. Another way of diverting attention away from the main issues facing the nation.
I won’t be surprised if some prominent opposition leaders are picked up and detained ” to assist with investigations”

  5. Deja Vu – Why are you worried about “perceived” enemies? If PF leaders were involved like Kampyongo which is common knowledge then I am afraid he will have to answer for his crimes.

  6. Deflecting from the high crime rates, kidnappings and road accident fatalities. Deal with the matters at hand and stop playing with peoples security. Where is the kidnapped young lady? We are slowly descending into kidnapping chaos like Nigeria and police seem clueless to stop it.

  7. Incase we forget………

More than 50 innocent civilians were lynched by angry mobs as a direct result of the gassing……
At the same time a story broke of how UPND had aquired $1.6 million to buy weapons to destabilise zambia……..they even had suspects and confessions.

The PF was starting to link the gassing and the weapons import , however alert citizens began to point out that how come the gassing incidences were only happening in PF strongholds where PF had thugs on every street corner………..no way UPND could operate there

The plot unravelled after the public was not convinced about the role of UPND in the gassing

  8. Open up investigations into the mysterious fires to ravage zambia at the same time $42 million was being justified to buy 42 fire trucks that should have cost $18 to $20 million…………

  9. Thieves recently have been talking too much but i think the pace of catching up with these thieves is too slow why not just let our UPND cadres go directly to the homes of these criminals and deal with them then bring them to the police. Easy way to do it than waste money on months long investigations then court apperances- all which use GRZ money. Use our intelligency system and save ba Kajoba. We can round up all these thieves in two days and half of your investigations nightmare solved just like that.

  10. When dealing with cadres-cadrism is the way to go! or try to be professional and waste your time.

  11. Chickens have come home to roost – hear the cries from the guilty – trepidation at the wheels of justice slowly grinding towards the targets. A Zambian adage says “UMULANDU TAUBOLA”.

  12. That gassing saga was an act of terror….so the perpetrators must be brought to book so that we do not have such sickening incidents again.Zambians did not know what terrorism is until PF came to power.
Who doesnt know that the PF financed the whole operation so that they could blame it on the UPND whom they knew were gaining popularity.

“#17 If Garry Nkombo is not arrested I will personally travel to Lusaka and stand in front of the presidential motorcade…”

    They were not juveniles……….

They are all adults, but nevertheless less forcing someone to drink alcohol is wrong………

  15. WHY WERE GASSING CASES SUSPENDED IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR THEM TO BE RESTARTED. ALREADY THIS SHOWS LACK OF ZEAL TO ANSWER THE MANY QUESTIONS IN THE MINDS OF ZAMBIANS.

  16. #21 Spaka. As minister he’s supposed to be levelheaded. Even if they broke the law our system allows chance even thieves until the process is completed.
