UPND MP’s Statement that 98% of the Civil Servants are PF and should be Fired is Sad-Atonio Mwanza

Share

The Former ruling Patriotic Front(PF) Media Director Antonio Mourinho Mwanza has said that the statement by United Party for National Development (UPND) Sesheke Member of Parliament, Romeo Kan’gombe that ‘98 per cent of the civil servants are PF and must be FIRED’ makes a very sad reading.

In a statement released to the media, Mr Mwanza said that Mr Kan’gombe’s narrative feeds into very dangerous rhetoric that UPND has been pushing against all those that worked or did business under the Patriotic Front administration.

Mr Mwanza said that the UPND is on a mission to cleanse the whole country of anyone who does not belong to or support UPND, adding that, to them, anyone who is not UPND does not deserve to live, work or do business in this country and that, worse, if you are PF you don’t even deserve to be alive, you should be ostracised and banished from Zambia.

“This is a very dangerous scheme that must be stopped before this country is turned into a one-party UPND Nation,” Mr Mwanza said.

Below is the full statement

ROMEO KANGOMBE MUST STOP SCANDALISING CIVIL SERVANTS ZAMBIA DOES NOT BELONG TO UPND IT BELONGS TO EVERY ZAMBIAN
Monday 23rd May, 2022

The statement by UPND Sesheke Member of Parliament, Romeo Kan’gombe that ‘98 percent of the civil servants are PF and must be FIRED’ makes very sad reading and feeds into a very dangerous rhetoric that UPND has been pushing against all those that worked or did business under the Patriotic Front administration.

The UPND is on a mission to CLEANSE the whole country of anyone who does not belong or support UPND. To them anyone who is not UPND does not deserve to live, work or do business in this country. Worse, if you are PF you don’t even deserve to be alive, you should be ostracised and banished from Zambia. This is a very dangerous scheme that must be stopped before this country is turned into a one party UPND Nation. According to the UPND philosophy Zambia gained its independence the day they won elections in 2021; before that, Zambia was a nation in turmoil and civil strife, the country was a ‘war’ zone until they came to power to give us peace and freedom of expression. How delusional can one be? It’s an insult to our founding fathers who fought for this nation’s independence we all enjoy today and yes, it is a slap on the face of the gallant men and women who fought for the multiparty democracy that gave this same UPND a chance to participate and win an election.

On the outset the UPND must understand that not everyone can or should support them. Zambia is a multi party democracy and people must be free to support any political party of their choice without fear of retribution or fear of loss of work or business.

It is clear that UPND does not understand who civil servants are, let alone, they don’t understand the structure and scope of the civil service. The civil service is the apolitical administrative and management institution of government and it lives in perpetuity beyond any political party or political establishment. UNIP, MMD, PF all came and went but the civil service remained; like wise, UPND will also go but the civil service will remain. So to look at the civil service as an enemy and not an arm of Government’s administration and management that will outlive all political parties and political administrations is to lack both knowledge and foresight.

Who is a civil servant? All public service workers including government administrators, teachers and health workers are civil servants. So according to UPND all the teachers, nurses, doctors, administrators etc that they found must be fired and replaced with UPND cadres. How? What kind of warped thinking is this? Who tells them that this country belongs only to UPND cadres? Does it mean that every party that comes to power must chase everyone and replace them with their cadres? Do they even know that not every civil servant in today’s government was employed by the administration, some were employed by the MMD? Does it mean that everyone now must belong to UPND for them to get employed? This is very backward and dangerous thinking and time has come for UPND to stop this kind of hatred and discrimination against fellow Zambians on account that they don’t belong to their Party.

We are not naive to note that at the heart of Romeo Kang’ombe’s statement that the UPND should fire 98% of the current civil servants is the UPND’s scheme to target and get rid of all the civil servants who come from certain regions. This is not even a secret, everyone knows how this Government is targeting people from certain regions. UPND must get rid of this hatred against fellow Zambians. We are all Zambians whether PF, UPND or any other political party. olitics is a service to the people and should not be reduced to personalities and tribal hegemony.

For their own information, UPND must know that these same civil servants they are harassing today actually voted for UPND.

No Zambian must lose a job or be denied business opportunities based on the political party they support. Instead of harassing them, the UPND must embrace and work closely with our teachers, nurses, doctors and all the other civil servants to push the development agenda for Zambia forward.

Lastly UPND must always remember that they will not be in power forever, one day they will be voted out and their turn to be held accountable for their actions will surely dawn upon them. Let them be cautious in the manner they are treating Zambians.

  1. Let them fire the whole country and employ only those from the” right” tribes. How can you tell which party an employee belongs to? We are headed for the worst history of this country. Kangombe is not just dreaming, this has been discussed among”themselves”

  2. But Given Lubinda said PF has many members still in the system and providing information to them. Did you condemn that statement? Scum bag!!

  3. Let them fire everyone and employ on those from the ” right” tribes. For how else can you tell the party an employee belongs to? Kangombe is not just talking from without, this must have been discussed within their circles.

  4. Very tribal dogs. If they fire and hire, be rest assured 98 percent of civil servants will be from one tribe with similar names of hantob0l0 hamusankwa. Fuseke

  5. Very immature indeed!!!
When you are at it, remove all bishops, elder’s, deacon’s….. from churches as well
Barmen from night clubs are pf cadres that’s why they are closing late,
Beef is expensive because pf cadres still own farms……
Stop being a cry baby and do your job period !!!!!.

  6. Belonging to, or supporting other than the ruling Party, should not justify being fired; especially for lower ranking Civil servants. Of course, the top brass may have to be replaced if they were political appointments; but, even then, you may not touch them if they are seasoned career Civil servants; you need them or government functions will suffer!

    #plant a tree please.

  7. Reporting for duty under fear of losing ones job is torture untold. Indeed if political affiliation is what got you a job your conscious demands you leave. However, when parents send their children off to school they invest in the child so that the child can become a responsible human being and get a job so they can fend for themselves. At that time its not about politics it just a duty a biblical one at that for a child to transform into a citizen of note…When your career is lost on account of politics it leaves an immeasurable scar….it drains your confidence but it can also build you to move on…lets remove politics from the civil service it is a calling…

  8. I think Romeo Kang’ombe has some kind of mental disorder. If he isn’t tamed it may be construed as an endorsement of his thinking by his Party. There are many civil servants that have clocked more than 10yrs of service, more than the duration of the PF reign. Bally must not take kindly to such sentiments by UPND rank and file. Romeo must be suspended from all Party activities to send a clear message. Just when the UPND youths in Lusaka have scored a hat trick against Nakachinda then this guy comes up with this? We’re all waiting to see what Nakachinda will do. He’s been beaten shy without any blood

  9. Why on earth are 98% of Civil servants N.P.F, possibly from only 2 regions of Zambia iwe’ Antonio, if as you say “Zambia is for us all”???
Waona manje, there rot that N.P.F set is coming to roost NOT forgetting how these N.P.F Civil servants have been frustrating the New Dawn in an effort to achieve their grand delusions of “ba Pompwe’ Chakolwa balebwelelapo”!

  10. Why 0n earth are 98% of C1vil s3rv@nts N.P.F, p0ssibly from only 2 regi0ns of Z@mbia iwe’ Ant0nio, if as you say “Z@mbia is for us all”???
Waona manje, there rot that N.9.F set is coming home to r00st, NOT forgetting how these N.9.F C1vil serv@nts have been frustrat1ng the New D@wn in an effort to achieve their gr@nd delusi0ns of “ba P0mpwe’ Ch@kolwa b@lebwelel@po”!

  11. We told you that this party UPND drinks tribalsim people never saw it.Youths thought they will be considered. For them it’s where i come from.Just wait how you’ll be fired. They don’t care about others!

  12. The prophecy is being fulfilled. BMW ascended to power through tribalism and can a Leopard change its spots or an Ethiopian his skin. Nay!
Buckle your belts ladies and gentlemen, the journey will be bumpy and stormy but don’t lose hope pantu KAKABALIKA!!! The LORD our God is on the throne reigning. So cheer up!!!

  13. #10 Spaka don’t play dumb… you have always labeled PF as tribal party for the bembas so it goes without saying which people will be targeted.

  14. My concern whenever this senseless kind of thinking rears its ugly head has always been that we have civil servants that have rightly and honestly earned their spurs! But then again, Kangombe is not really the guy we would worry about even if he said this from the balconies of some famous house. Just another case of an overzealous gate-man reporting for duty drunk because he didn’t know how to deal with his new salary!

  15. #15 Kojak What Kangombe is doing is what Nakachinda does and even more dangerous. If Mr Hakainde Hichilema really means well these are the things he should be referring to. Mr Hakainde claimed that Nakachinda’s utterances could set the country on fire, but compared to Kangombe, Nakachinda is not anywhere near to causing even a small fracas.

  16. Spaka remember the people who voted for Upnd either have relatives, parents and friends in the civil service, or are even civil servants themselves. Don’t forget last elections are not the last that we shall ever have.

  17. WHAT DID LUBINDA SAY THE OTHER DAY
OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE LEAKS IN THE SYSTEM
SO WHAT ?? IT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE

  18. 1. Why is UPND sounding scared, possessed with PF, and pouring out excuses at every junction? UPND need to grow up fast and come to reality. Kangombe’s statement tallies up to some of the statements we have seen from regular bloggers on Lusakatimes. To them, if they see someone critic HH then automatically he/she is put in the PF Basket. Why do they do this? It’s because they expect HH not to be censored. To them, HH is Mr Perfect Human-Being. And we are to give HH a free pass at all costs.

  19. 2. Frankly, any time you find a person who finds it very difficult to be criticised then you know that – that person has Narcissistic-Personality-Disorder. And the symptoms for Narcissistic-Personality-Disorder are having an (i) Excessive need for admiration, (ii) Disregard for others’ feelings, and (iii) Inability to handle any disapproval,& criticism & (iv) Sense of entitlement

The draw back is that you cannot progress in life with such mindset. You end up living a a self exiled prison surrounded by walls that you have created.

  20. 3. Kangombe’s statement does not compute and formulate because Zambia has been ruled by 4 political parties since 1964. Even in KK days when everyone was forced to support UNIP because there was no second bet for an opposition party, Zambia still had a lot of people in civil service who did not support UNIP. It’s only that Zambia was ruled by the State of Emergence and people were scared to speak against UNIP. A more reason why KK could not see himself losing to MMD. But he got very shocked that the man he once called out to (Shut UP Short Man) meaning Chiluba beat him overwhelmingly. The rest is history.

  21. 4. We still have UNIP supporters who joined the civil service in the late 80s and early 90s who are nearing retirement, but don’t just see the need to vote because they know the ballot vote will be wasted. We still have MMD and PF in Civil Service. We had UPND in Civil Service before HH won.

And we have people in the civil service who have no political affiliation or the so-called Independents or Swing Voters. If the nation was still being ruled by One Party State, then one can say the majority of civil service are from one political party.

So this is nonsense and failing to *Think, *Work and *Function as an MP. I don’t think Kangombe knows the definition of a Member of Parliament.

  22. Just look at this chaps dressing……………..He is very young but very back wards. I pity the people who voted for him as their MP.

  23. Well…………

We all know most of the GRZ critics on LT………

Are not criticising on performance, but on tribal lines based on their mantra …….

A tonga can never rule zambia

That applies to the hard-core PF that kangombe is talking about……….

    They are tribal supremacists………….

    You can’t dupe us…………

  24. Given the two, Kang’ombe and Antonio I would rather believe Kangombe, the other guy who was a propaganda agent for PF after escaping hunger at FDD was never reliable at any given time. I can sight a number of unreliable ssues which were raised in the past by the drubbed regime, but time and space cannot allow here

They are some people who critic GRZ and UPND on LT and yet they are 100% Tonga. Would you say these Tonga’s who don’t support UPND are also tribal? You need to stop this nonsense assuming that no Tonga can critic UPND. That’s sickness.

  30. Hey Mr job could you find some ways and means that could help us find jobs for these families we live with. Mr job answered,”I know how to solve that puzzle………… it isn’t difficulty ….it’s like drinking water……….”

  31. This has nothing to do with who ever can rule Zambia it has everything to do with the comment by this boy by the name of Romeo kangombe. Their leaders is in concert with this statement. All tribes in Zambia have equal chance of raising a leader of our great nation but Hakainde is destroying all that in front of our very eyes. Lungu was blamed for all that went wrong in the country because the back stopped at him. Now tables have turned the back stops at Mmembe’s brother in law, and he must answer all questions.

  32. It’s because your Lubinda keeps bragging that they still have their people in the system so blame LUBINDA!! PF always excellent in shooting themselves in the foot.

No , what i am saying is that 95% of critics of HH are from one region…………..

  34. The job genocide has already begun. I know of three guys – all from one region – whose contracts have been terminated or not renewed. One young man – very highly qualified in his his field and a Kopala product of an inter-tribal marriage – suffered a similar fate. He was invited for an interview whose entire panel was from the so-called Zambezi provinces. Because of his Zambezian surname, they enthusiastically greeted him him in one of the Zambezi languages that he doesn’t understand. When I met him, he said: “Ba mudala, just after the interview began, I knew I wasn’t getting the job because the atmosphere in the room changed when they discovered I wasn’t one of them. I regretted not learning much of my dad’s language!”

  35. Kangombe young boy is a well known smuggler agent at Katima Mulilo Border Post.He has been aiding smugglers of beer, fish and illegat exportation of mukula. He is just a young excited crook who has always intimidated civil servants even before he became an MP.He is very corrupt and alwasy looking for easy money.
