Zambia has has sell-outs and puppets as Leaders-Fred M’membe

Share

Socialist Party (SP) Leader Fred M’membe has said that the country is at risk of losing its sovereignty because it has sell-outs and puppets as Leaders.

Dr M’membe said this in light of what he termed as the Assembling of the United States of America Military office in Zambia.

He said this calls for all well-meaning Zambians to rise and create a gigantic movement which no imperialist force will destroy.

“When the strongest army in the world sets up in your territory, you can no longer maintain your independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Dr. M’membe has said.

He has however noted with concern that what previous Republican Presidents rejected is what President Hakainde Hichilema is allowing in the country, charging that the Americans have come to take away the country’s honour and sovereignty.

“The American Military have made it clear that their presence is to protect American interests…..but you may wish to know that American interests are not our interests. The interest of an imperialists can never be our interest where were they when we were fighting for our independence,” he said.

And Dr M’membe said allowing the American Army to set up an office or installations in the country is a danger to Democracy.

Dr M’membe said this is because the Americans would never allow a political party that opposes its agenda to rule the country. He cited Patrice Lumumba of then Zaire, Samora Marchel of Mozambique and Abdel Gamal Nasser of Egypt as some of the leaders the Americans disliked and toppled.

“We can say it is not a military base they are setting up but look at what is happening to Ghana today, the Americans would not allow a political party that oppose their stay to come into government. This kills Democracy,” Dr M’membe stated.

Meanwhile, Dr M’membe said the presence of American Military in any country yields destabilisation.

“Whichever country they have gone to there is no peace. This is what our government is bringing to us, to threaten our peace. A country that is a colony can never develop. They have destroyed Libya, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, we know that they are supporting separate forces in Ethiopia,” he stated.

Dr M’membe has since called upon citizens to defend the independence and sovereignty the country has enjoyed.

“This calls for cooperation, solidarity, Humility……. the issues we are talking about are not small issues. These are issues that give us an identity. We make a clarion call to all citizens and Democrats to work side by side with us and defend our dignity and existence,” he said.

  2. Tired of Mmembe’s rantings. He keeps repeating the same sentiments, yes we are concerned about having a foreign military office in our country. His issue is that it happens to be an American one, I would bet a billion dollars (Zimbabwe) that he would be happy if the military office happened to be either China’s or Russia.
This man is stuck in 1950s and wants to continue the fight for independence which we already have. According to Mmembe, Zambia still has enemies which she must fight against.
In his interviews, he bemoans technological advancements and says they are causing unemployment. An example he gives is that of using heavy equipment for mining, his view is that machines replace jobs of more than 100 people if they did it manually. Unbelievably, Mmembe seems to suggest that we…

    • disregard heavy equipment and mine like it’s the 1700s, with picks and wheelbarrows so as to employ everyone without paying attention to the quality of work.
Mmembe wants to pretend he is a socialist when he has made his money by having had a capitalist monopoly over the print media for 32 years. Added to that, his company did not pay taxes but his personal worth kept growing.
I think Mmembe needs to keep quiet for now and allow the capitalists to run the country.

  4. Mr Mmembe , Cubans in a historic referendum voted to legalize same sex marriages.Cuba is a communist country and predominately catholic. as you know very well.
With a 74% turnout , 3,936,790 had voted in favor and 1,950,090 against.
According to Mr Mmembe , the 3,936,790 Cubans are likely sell-outs and puppets of the west.
The referendum in Cuba was not just about gay rights but it was an avenue for the people to tell their government that communism is dead.
Mr Mmembe is still living in the past. The world has moved on.

    • Not factual reporting here. The Cuban government pushed for legalization of gay marriage, and whatever the government desires works. Majority Cubans were indeed against this but of course the government got their way.

  5. Many Zambians survive on US PEPFAR sponsored ARVs. When there’s even a single delayed shipment it becomes a national crisis. Which sovereignty can you brag about when your people survive on free ARVs from American people? Fred is merely politicking, as usual. Let’s look at what’s best for Zambia. Many African leaders benefitted from Gaddaffi’s check-book diplomacy yet when he was clobbered not even one raised any voice. If the US withdraws its sponsorship of ARVs our people will die a helpless painful death. Let’s just accept our beleaguered situation and find how we can benefit from our relationship with the US

  6. @ chiza, maybe we have been reading alternative media news, the last time I checked 67% of Cubans supported same sex marriage as opposed to 33% who opposed.

    • I am aware of how the results of the referendum were. My point is that whatever the Cuban government sets out to do happens with near universal approval. The Cuban government decided to allow same sex marriage and set up the voting. Majority Cubans are Catholic and against gay marriage but the results proved many people supported gay marriage.
Whatever Cuban government wants, Cuban government gets. My view remains that these results should be considered in the same way the Ukrainian referendums to join Russia in Russian occupied towns are considered,

  7. From the time you started politics, the only thing you have shown us is that you studied history, and of course, using the western education system

  8. Has there ever been a United States empire in history? So how is the US imperialist? There have been Chinese, Russian, Austro-Hungarian and British empires in recent times. The Chinese are grabbing land from neighbours and for those who will not pay back debt. America has never grabbed land from any country. It just rents the land. So, Mr Mmembe, learn the facts before you regurgitate lies.

    • America has previously colonized Cuba, American Samoa, Vietnam (and lost a war hence the retreat) as well as Philippines.

  9. Just the logo of his party should tell you this man is living in the past.
    The man is a “Luddite”
For those of you who are not acquainted with the term, here is the meaning from Websters dictionary:
    Definition of Luddite
: one of a group of early 19th century English workmen destroying laborsaving machinery as a protest
broadly : one who is opposed to especially technological change
The Luddite argued that automation destroys jobs.

  10. Mr Fred M’membe, please take note that ISIS is now active in Cabo Delgado province in Northern Mozambique.
Our stup.pid politicians, will soon start using that as a justificationas a result of the USA Military Office in Zambia.

If one mad Kambwili can go barefooted to the Graveyard protesting against FISP, what will stop such politicians from connecting presence of ISIS in Mozambique to the presence of USA Military Office in Zambia?
