WEEKEND SCORECARD: Zambia to Face Ireland Women’s Friendly in Dublin

Share

Zambia will visit The Republic of Ireland in June to play a pre-2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup friendly.

The friendly will be played on June 22 in Dublin.

“In the run-up to FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, FAZ has clinched an international friendly match which will see the Copper Queens play the Republic of Ireland on Thursday, June 22 at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin,” FAZ spokesperson Sydney Mungala said.

Like Zambia, The Republic of Ireland will be making its FIFA Women’s World Cup debut.

Ireland is using the game to taste some African flavour ahead of their final Group B FIFA Women’s World Cup date against Nigeria at the tournament to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand from July 20-August 20.

As for Zambia, it is another opportunity to play some European opposition after facing North Macedonia and Slovenia at the Turkish Women’s Cup that they wrap up on February 21 against Uzbekistan.

Spain is Zambia’s European opponent in Group C at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in a pool that also includes Costa Rica and 2011 champions Japan.
