Kakubo to represent President Hichilema at UN General Assembly

President Hakainde Hichilema will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Stanley Kakubo at the 78th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly which is taking place from 18th to 26th of September, 2023 in New York.

Mr Kakubo is scheduled to address the General Assembly during the High-level General Debate on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings on pertinent issues of mutual interest with other leaders.

The General Debate for this year will be held under the theme “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability For All.”

Also in attendance at the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly meetings will be Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo, and Minister of Community Development and Social Services Doreen Mwamba.

This is according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the Zambian delegation will attend the 2023 SDG Summit for Leaders, high-level meetings on Financing for Development, Climate Ambition Summit, Non- Proliferation Treaty, business roundtable on Africa’s transition from the critical minerals to energy, the side event on Ending Early, Forced and Child Marriage co-hosted with Canada, and the side event focused on the Girls’ Education and Women’s Empowerment and Livelihoods, among others.

The 2023 SDG Summit is the main focus of the high-level meetings, which will serve as an anchor for all the high-level meetings and other side events.

It is expected to mark the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals with high-level political guidance.

The Zambian delegation’s participation at the UN high-level engagements is crucial to advancing the Government’s development agenda through concerted action with other Member States in the quest to find solutions to common global challenges.

“The country remains committed to promoting issues of importance at national, regional and international levels through the UN in furtherance of rule-based multilateralism and cooperation,” read the statement in part.

  1. Kikkiliki The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Hakainde Hichilema once lied to the Zambian people that he was invited to USA by the US President but it turned out he was coming to the UNGA just after elections and i keep on saying the UNGA is just a conduit for personal business deals. Corruption and a waste of Tax payers money…Trump wanted to remove the UN Headquarters from New York he said it was useless and yes it is useless

    • Better an intelligent man than drunk, stupid Lungu who would be dancing and drinking Jameson, or hiding when the US threatens countries not to vote.
You were probably one of the clowns in attendance then.

  2. Team looks like a $ex expedition team.
    So childish.
Anyway, let them go for shopping too, but no one will match those 6 suitcase of chinese load for Mutinta

    • Dont mistake Mutinta’s salaula for this group’s luggage. Mutinta gives thiose things in her bag to hospitals especially in the Eastern Province where Esther never delivered anything during her term

  3. Remember two days ago i said his next trip will be UNGA probably his handlers saw the comment and they feel embarrassed that we even know his next trip he was going to charter a Boeing 737 with 300 member entourage and these international foreign trips are making him very unpopular

The truth is that HH works according to his OWN plans, no amount of noise and screaming will force him to diverge from his plans. He is FOCUSSED !!!
So, do not cheat yourselves that he is not going to the UN because of pressure. It’s just according to his terms and no influence from your noises.
HE IS NOT ECL who used to bend, according to what AMOS Chanda or Kaizer told him to do. He is slowly taking off your TALKING points. What are you going to talk about once he fixes Ubunga?

  5. @General Kanene
My brother you’re too intelligent to be a chief Lumbani madoda praise singer…leave that position to gullible Spaka and TIKKI

  6. The honeymoon is over. I think soon you shall be hearing about plotters of pa mupando are the real reasons for sending a young man. One wonders what the role of the vice president is in Zambia.
