The Zambia National Service (ZNS) has disclosed that it will install a solar-powered borehole and a 10,000-litre water tank at Shikabeta Combined School in Rufunsa District, Lusaka Province.
ZNS Commander Lt. Gen. Maliti Solochi made the announcement when Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe visited the school to interact with members of staff.
Lt. Gen. Solochi said the intervention is intended to ease the water challenges faced by teachers at the school.
And Dr. Mwanakampwe has called for honesty, integrity and dedication among teachers, noting that public service demands seriousness.
Dr. Mwanakampwe acknowledged the hardships caused by the poor road network but assured that a bridge will be constructed across the Lunsemfwa River to ease teachers’ mobility.
Meanwhile, School Headteacher Sinkala Sisungwe commended the free education policy and CDF bursaries for improving access to education for children who previously could not afford school fees.
