Zambia and Rwanda are itching to go head-to-head in Wednesday’s 2026 Morocco FIFA Under-17 Women World Cup qualifier at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The Copper Princesses have a 2-0 lead from the first leg match of the first round played in Kigali, Rwanda last Friday.
The match will kick-off at 15h00.
Zambia coach Carol Kanyemba says her players must be at their best to eliminate Rwanda.
Kanyemba cautioned against underrating Rwanda.
“2-0 lead is a good step ahead but that does not make the work easy because Rwanda are coming here with nothing to lose,” she told journalists at a pre-match media conference.
“They are coming here trailing so they will definitely give their all and if our girls become complaisant, they can overturn the tables. So, there is a lot of pressure for me and the girls and we need to be focused until the final whistle,” Kanyemba said.
Rwanda coach Oscarine Iragena said it is possible for her side to reverse the 2-0 loss suffered in the first leg match.
“It not an easy task playing against Zambia but it is possible to overturn the tables. This is a good opportunity for our players to express themselves and grow up. It is not going to be a problem for us,” Iragena said in Ndola.
The overall winners between Zambia and Rwanda will face DR Congo in the second round of the qualifying campaign after Djibouti pulled out of the race.
