Chinyingi School receives a Classroom block

Chinyingi Day Secondary School Head Teacher, Kasepa Kasanga in Zambezi District has commended the government for constructing a 1×3 classroom block using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Mr Kasanga stated that the construction of the classroom block has significantly improved the learning environment

Mr Kasanga revealed that the completion of the project has relieved the institution of the financial burden of renting alternative learning spaces from Chinyingi Mission Hospital.

He explained that previously, the school was forced to spend substantial amounts of money to secure three rooms at the mission hospital to accommodate the pupils.

He noted that the new infrastructure has not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the school but has also provided a cleaner, more spacious environment, which has subsequently reduced student absenteeism.

“We are extremely grateful to the government for this timely CDF intervention. This classroom block has answered our cry for space and saved us from the high rental expenses we were incurring,” Mr Kasanga said.

“Our learners now have a conducive, permanent environment that has truly restored their dignity and boosted school attendance,” he said.

The Head teacher has however appealed to the government to consider connecting the School to the national electricity grid, noting that the lack of power is severely hampering the implementation of the computer-based curriculum.

Mr Kasanga disclosed that the school is still renting a single room at the mission hospital to facilitate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) lessons.

He bemoaned the distance between the School and the hospital which is vast, resulting in pupils losing valuable learning time while commuting for computer classes.

Mr Kasanga further stated that while the introduction of the free education policy has drastically increased student enrollment, there is an urgent need for more infrastructure development.

He called on the government and well-wishers to support the school with additional classrooms, a modern science laboratory and a fully-equipped computer lab to ensure learners receive quality education.
