UPND Mafinga South parliamentary candidate Robert Chabinga has appealed to political parties to conduct issue-based campaigns as the country heads towards the general elections.
Chabinga said political campaigns should focus on policies and manifestos that address the needs of citizens rather than promoting division among the electorate.
Speaking to the media in Mafinga District, Chabinga urged young people across the political divide not to allow themselves to be used in acts of violence during the campaign period.
He said Zambia’s democratic process should be characterised by peaceful campaigns and orderly elections that uphold the country’s long-standing reputation for peace and stability.
Chabinga further emphasized the need for political leaders and supporters to engage one another respectfully while presenting their visions for national development.
He also commended President Hakainde Hichilema for what he described as development achievements recorded across various sectors of the economy.
