Breeze FM Radio Station has lifted the suspension of coverage if political programmes

Confusion reigns outside Breeze FM studios as suspected PF cadres throw storms at the studio
Confusion reigns outside Breeze FM studios as suspected PF cadres throw storms at the studio

The lifting comes three months after it was effected following an attack on the radio station and the disruption of a live discussion programme featuring Rainbow Party President, Winter Kabimba by PF cadres on November 29.

Breeze FM owner and Director, Michael Daka announced the lifting of the suspension last night.
The decision follows an apology made by Eastern Province, Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo when he addressed journalists during the national World Radio Day celebrations held in Chipata over the weekend.

The permanent secretary said that government will protect journalists from hooligans who attack them.

Apart from those who attacked Breeze FM Radio Station , other PF cadres invaded and disrupted the broadcast of a political programme on Chikaya Community Radio Station in Lundazi District.
Other PF cadres also attacked and humiliated reporters from The Post Newspaper and Feel Free Radio Station who were investigating anomalies in the voter registration exercise in Vubwi District on the border with Malawi.

Mr Daka hopes that government will uphold the assurance given to journalists by Eastern Province Permanent Secretary so that Breeze FM and its staff can cover the forthcoming General elections without fear or favour.

He however noted that despite the decision to lift the suspension to cover political news and programmes, management of Breeze FM was still disappointed that non of the PF cadres who criminally trespassed into the radio station had been arrested.

The coverage and broadcast of political news and programmes on Breeze FM resumes on March 1st.

  1. Did Lungu condemn this violence the way he is condemning the bwengwa violence? the answer is NO? he is not fit to be president for Zambia but Panga Family only

    • While addressing Zambians in Italy Lungi said he was a weak president, before he was elected president he said he had no vision. Why should such a person be president for Zambia…is this how low we have sunk as a nation?

  2. breeze FM .makes a lot of .money from political hour program, it can’t afford not to have this programs especially in an election year. Mr. Daka has just realised that his protest was going to send clients to its competitors, feel free FM and radio maria. good decision though.

  5. Still no arrests. But if it had been the other way round, the UPND supporters would have been rounded up.

  6. PF are de-campaigning themselves out of power. it always happens when a party in government is about to close shop. these are signs that PF are going
