PACRA’s Decentralised registration captures more business Entities

The Patents and Companies Registrations Agency (PACRA) says it has recorded an increase in business registration due to the decentralized system of registering businesses.

PACRA Public Relations Officer Vaida Njobvu told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the agency is pleased with the number of businesses registered country wide.

Ms Njobvu observed that the establishment of provincial offices, online and One Stop Business Centres has created a platform for many businesses to be registered in the country.

She said the registration of businesses has come to people’s door steps and has given people an opportunity to register their business without panic.

Ms Njobvu further disclosed that PACRA has partnered with over 53 local authorities in its decentralisation programme countrywide to reduce the cost of doing business.

Ms .Njobvu said people in far-flung areas no longer need to travel to Lusaka as they are able to access PACRA services at local authorities in their respective provinces.

She added that the establishment of the One-Stop Business Centre’s in all the ten provinces is still on-going.
Mrs. Njobvu warned that PACRA will deregister all businesses that fail to submit annual returns in accordance with the legal requirement.

She said annual returns are very important not just to PACRA, but to various key stakeholders, who rely on the agency’s database.

  1. Why not take the registration to districts and chiefs. Much easier.
