The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFC) has welcomed government’s decision to re-introduce the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
EFC Executive Director, Pukuta Mwanza said the announcement by the President-elect to re-introduce the Ministry of Religious Affairs will promote Christian values and give more meaning to the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.
Speaking to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Reverend Mwanza added that the announcement will also oversee the country’s Christian principles.
Rev. Mwanza further called on Zambians to ensure that the binding principles that led to the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation by late President Fredrick Chiluba are actualized through the creation of an institution that should oversee the enjoyment of the declaration.
And the EFZ Executive Director further applauded President Lungu for initiating and launching the construction of a national house of prayer as part of the efforts to promoting Christianity.
He said the new Ministry’s core concept should capture the teaching in various religious practices in order to promote a sense of unity, respect for humanity through the promotion of peace in Zambia.
Meanwhile The Zambia National Marketeers Credit Association (ZANAMACA) has also applauded President-elect Edgar Lungu for his plans to re-introduce the Ministry of religious affairs in the country.
This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by ZANAMACA President Mupila Kameya.
Mr. Kameya said ZANAMACA would also like to thank God for pioneering this very important Ministry confirmed by God through President Lungu.
He said the re-introduction of the ministry means a lot to the Christian community and the Zambian people at large.
Mr Kameya added that for many years, Churches in Zambia have played a very significant role spiritually in building up families, communities and leadership at various levels
He called on all Zambians to embrace this decision which is intended to bring them together through the spirit of oneness.
He however appealed to President Lungu to continue seeking God’s guidance so that he is given rightful people to manage the Ministry according to Gods will.

Ministry of Religious Affairs or Ministry of Christian Affairs? Dont eat a meal before you know the ingredients. So stop agreeing with what you dont know. Religious affairs means looking after Hinduists, Christians, Moslems, Africanists, Buddhists, Jews, in other words all religions in Zambia. But we all know very well Lungu wants to have a ministry that extols Christianity. Its a waste of our tax because we dont need the State’s involvement in our spiritual lives, the ministry of culture can do what this ministry wants to do. Zambia doesnt have money to waste on token ministries
PF and Edgar Lungu bring the money which you stole when you knew very well that after parliament dissolved ministers weren’t suppose to in offices. They used our govt funds for political campaigns. Maxwell Mwale former mp for Malambo constituency had his seat nullified by PF for abusing state resources under MMD govt so where is the difference especially now that it was a sanctioned by Edgar Lungu. Lungu must face the music in court for day light robbery. All his former ministers who were re-elected on PF will lose their seats too. No wonder PF closed Post newspapers, muvi tv and other private media so that Zambians should not make their informed decisions. PF are thiefs and thugs.
