North-Western Province Members of Parliament have described Roan Member of Parliament, Chishimba Kambwili’s tribal remarks as a very big insult to all the people of the province.
They have since demanded an apology from Mr. Kambwili and the Patriotic Front (PF) Party as a whole.
The MPs said Mr Kambwili should know that wisdom and intelligence are not a preserve of Bemba’s only, saying all 73 tribes in Zambia contribute equally to the social, economic and political development of the country.
The MPs expressed their anger and disappointment in a press statement co-read in Solwezi today by Mwinilunga MPs Elijah Muchima and Stephen Katuka and endorsed by all 12 MPs in the province.
They said it is wrong for Mr Kambwili to imply that the people of North-Western Province were useless and that they do not deserve to be MPs.
They said people in the province participated in the liberation struggle for the country and they are still contributing significantly to the peace and unity the country is enjoying now.
“We regret to note that since independence many unreasonable people like Kambwili have mistaken the peace loving nature of the people of North-Western Province to mean political weakness,” they said. “We no longer have patience and we can not allow insults from imbeciles like Kambwili to go unchallenged. Mr Kambwili himself does not deserve to be a Member of Parliament because he has no leadership qualities.”
They said the high level of insolence and tribalism exhibited by Kambwili should be condemned and stopped immediately before it divides the country into tribal and regional groupings.
They said Patriotic Front (PF) should tell Kambwili that no tribe was superior to the others in Zambia.
The MPs said Kambwili was a young man who was supposed to be practicing modern politics of the 21st century based on unity and respect for one another and not engagng in politics of hatred and tribalism.
They appealed to people from the Northwestern province who are in PF to resign and join any other party where they would be respected as Zambians.

zed politicians grow up. you keep bickering like little children. i happen to have read that article where kambwili made the remarks. if i remember correctly kambwili said he knows a lot of successful luvales but kachimba was not one of them. to me this was a personal attack on simon kachimba not people from north western province as a whole!
The MPs should take this matter further. Let them obtain official statements on the same matter from PF president, PF General Secretary and the Bemba royal establishment. At this time Kambwili will be left alone, and let Kachimba sue him for defamation. When this is done it will send a strong signal to will be tribalists. Mwanawasa was called a leader from a minority tribe, if such statements are not checked, today it is the Luvales, tomorrow it will be another tribe, and all this will bring anarchy. Let the root be uprooted otherwise fruits of bitterness will be eaten soon or later.
Logic they called him an imbecile not bec of his ethnic group. I think that it is good that the MPs from NW are taking this stance. For too long Zambians in general have been looking down on people from NW. They need to assert themselves especially now that their province will be contributing to Zambia’s coffers.
#6, You are forgetting that Teta made the same tribal remarks during the presidential elections in eastern province. Kambwili has not insulted the Lovales but discredited Kachimba for not being a seasonal politician and not Luvales. It is becoming more than just personal attack.
The fact is Simon Kachimba is a lawful person to sue Kambwili and not these recruited MPs by Teta to jump on the bandwagon of self driven political manipulations of the cabre of Teta. If this sort of manners continues Zambia is heading for something else.

Bush lawyers, there’s that thing called Freedom of Speech. You should know that he did not defame anybody but characterised them as useless and don’t deserve to be MPs. That could have been right or wrong, but who knows? Kambwili must be asked why he said so. Considering Teta is one of those MPs, I don’t know how far fetched that statement is. Also let it be known that it is not what the area contributes that was mentioned, it was the MPs contributions in question here. Probably Kambwili exaggerated a bit, but Teta is useless and does not below in Parliament. To that, there could be no debate. Oh by the way, the statement did not come as a Bemba issue. Those characterising it as such must be worse imbeciles than Kambwili himself.
#7 this is 2010 and people are still getting hang up on what tribe one belongs to! Zambia has more serious issues than spending time calling each other names. So what if Kambwili said what he, said? No body cares about that. The world will not stop functioning because of what Kambwili said or any other tribalist for that matter. If he had just criticised the MP withouth referring to his ethnic group then this situation would not have arisen. We all know that some Luvales are intelligent and others not so. Just like there are intelligent Bembas and others like Kambwili who are dull. What has that got to do with being a Luvale. The implication in the way Kambwili spoke is that people should not vote for somebody because he or she is a Luvale. If someone is incompetent it is not because of their ethnic group or tribe. When people become more sensitive and watch what they say about particular groups of people then the whole country benefits. We have to have mutual respect for one another. Also this is costing PF votes in NW. People will remember this in 2011 so Kambwili is hurting his own party.

Who said some people in Zambia are behind just like amatako? This was not an insult as far as Mutale Nalumgo was concerned and defended the Levy. But this was a president and far much higher in authority than kambwili and in kambwilis case unless some one is very dull to separate an individual from the whole group, you will think kambwili erred yet he even said he has seen successful men and women from northwestern province but kachimba was not one of them. these northwesterners are just a bunch of lutuku drunks who cant even think of the praises kambwili is showering on them. lets learn politics of decency not trivializing issues as though kwambwili uttered unpallatables before the nortwesterners.
Let’s look at the wrong that Kambwili uttered and condemn it appropriately not in a buffoonery manner like justifying it, especially that most of the bloggers are future leaders of tommorow who should exhibit respect for all tribes. i come from NWP, but tribal remarks are not good, they bring separation. Nevertheless, let Zed remember the colonial days when we were fighting for our land, we did not say it is for this or that. We are one child. No need of telling people to resign from their partties. We need to vote for the right Candidate whether they are Kaonde, Luvale, Bemba or Lozi or Tonga etc for peace, and unity for deveoplment. In unity we build, in division, we separate and fall. Please do not create asituation were the White people will be reporting on genecide like what happened in Luanda. Do not create jobs for the western to come and makepeace keeping in our motherland.
