President Edgar Lungu says Zambia looks forward to enhanced cooperation with the Arab world in order to foster the country’s economic development.
The President says Zambia will engage various partners in her quest to develop the country.
He was speaking in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday evening in an interview with ZANIS ahead of the fourth Africa-Arab summit.
The head of state said Zambia must strive to scale up her presence on the global arena as the world has become a global village.
“Zambia cannot afford to remain aloof and remain on the side-lines of international cooperation,” he said.
The Head of State further noted that Zambia must break away from solely dealing with her traditional allies and engage with all regions.
President Lungu said the Africa-Arab gathering is an ideal opportunity to diversify Zambia’s relations with other parts of the world.

I get the feeling he impulsly goes for these invites without prioritising what is asked of him.
People that wanted him to be re elected cannot compound the reason they wanting him re elected aside from assertions such as he is better than HH.

Where are the rest of African presidents, am sure the summit was for ministers and NGOs.
This guy doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing. His blabbering on the need for an alliance with the Arabs is unplanned, capricious, and simply exposes him as a guy who has no vision and no understanding of global politics or global economy. What does he intend to get from the “Arabs?” What does he expect to have them offer him and what does he want to offer in return? He doesn’t say. And is this the only reason why he had to waste our meager resources, flying to Equatorial Guinea? The news reports say Morocco and several Arab countries protested this gathering, and literally walked out. So when did he have time to strike any deals with them? What a shame. Stay home and do something worthwhile, instead of aimlessly flying all over the place.
A very useless meeting to attend by our head of state. Which arab leaders did attend this meeting anyway? And what are their pledges? Can’t trust them, not even an inch.
