President Edgar Lungu is welcomed by his counterpart of Equatorial Guinea,Teodoro Obiag Masongo during the 4th Africa-Arab World Summit in Malabo today.
President Edgar Lungu  during the 4th Africa-Arab World Summit in Malabo today.

President Edgar Lungu says Zambia looks forward to enhanced cooperation with the Arab world in order to foster the country’s economic development.

The President says Zambia will engage various partners in her quest to develop the country.

He was speaking in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday evening in an interview with ZANIS ahead of the fourth Africa-Arab summit.

The head of state said Zambia must strive to scale up her presence on the global arena as the world has become a global village.

“Zambia cannot afford to remain aloof and remain on the side-lines of international cooperation,” he said.

The Head of State further noted that Zambia must break away from solely dealing with her traditional allies and engage with all regions.

President Lungu said the Africa-Arab gathering is an ideal opportunity to diversify Zambia’s relations with other parts of the world.

    • I get the feeling he impulsly goes for these invites without prioritising what is asked of him.

People that wanted him to be re elected cannot compound the reason they wanting him re elected aside from assertions such as he is better than HH.

I have never felt so visionless and disengaged as I feel with Lungu.

This will be a torturous 5 years. Lawd it better go as quickly as it can

      Thanks

    • This is a result of rigging & stealing the 11~8~16 election victory from UPND. The IMF refused to give the PF bandits of Lungu billions of dollars for kaloba until democracy is restored. IMF refused b’coz Lungu’s PF crooks are tramping upon media freedom in the country. Now blind Lungu is always on the move like a camel dancing to dununa backwardness.
Lungu should come back & deal with the economic crisis he created by PF incompetence, even load shedding. Worse, fuel is over K13/ltr & a bag of mealie meal is beyond K107.
Lungu is begging for kaloba from Arabic states to feed his bandits Jameson, shocking!

    • This guy doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing. His blabbering on the need for an alliance with the Arabs is unplanned, capricious, and simply exposes him as a guy who has no vision and no understanding of global politics or global economy. What does he intend to get from the “Arabs?” What does he expect to have them offer him and what does he want to offer in return? He doesn’t say. And is this the only reason why he had to waste our meager resources, flying to Equatorial Guinea? The news reports say Morocco and several Arab countries protested this gathering, and literally walked out. So when did he have time to strike any deals with them? What a shame. Stay home and do something worthwhile, instead of aimlessly flying all over the place.

    • A very useless meeting to attend by our head of state. Which arab leaders did attend this meeting anyway? And what are their pledges? Can’t trust them, not even an inch.

    • @Mushota, I’m a big fan of yours. But now I feel embarrassed for you, at your display of ignorance. You’re either being sarcastic or you need some education. And no — neither whites nor Arabs are better than you. You’re just as good as they are. And whatever they can accomplish, you can accomplish too. And yes I’m a black man and wouldn’t want to trade my black skin with anything else. I’m comfortable in my own skin. You need to be too. You’re beautiful by the way.

  1. You get anything there. The low oil prices have hit the Arabs hard.

Also the Arabs know about the dununa reverse you done on the Libyans with regard to ZAMNET which they invested in good faith only for PF to revoke the sale when they saw Libya in Turmoil.

    Have you repaid the Libyans?

Jay Jay, if his stomach is what makes him who he is, then how is it he has been able to rig elections – not once, but three times? I see first, how he bulldozed things within PF, to become its head; and later, twice at the ballot box nationally. A heavy stomach would have been less of an ally, don’t you suppose?

Coming to think of it, he had no heavy stomach then. It’s a new arrival – a tribute to his success!

  3. Arab countries are the most racist countries i have ever seen by far!! It is completely accepted to call a black person ‘abd’ meaning slave.

Thats why Zambians who work for Arabs are insulted, beaten, spat on and treated like dirt in their own country. Arabs should learn to fold their tails in Africa!
As for me Arabs are the same as useless pile of dog shiit

He needs to sit in the office and inspire economic development.
I hope he pays you well for all your ridiculous defenses you put up for him here.

Your name, so long; your thought, so short. Your mind, which is indeed your true stature, is taller, I reckon. It can do better than just insult.

  6. Zambia needs developing partners but not arabs and chinese. Just been talking to someone from singapore. The way they spoke abad about chinese investments in africa, all chinese want is natural resources while bribing our so called leaders. Africa arise from your slumber, for how long will allow to be abused without the pepetrator using lubricant on u

    • So you think a foreigner would come all the way to Zambia for friendship and to give you jobs…wake up…so long as you think like that you will forever get the shortend of the stick. Go to England and see how Nissan and Tata provide highly paid unionised skilled jobs, state of the art factories in return for a lucrative car market.

    • Sata had started flushing foreigners from Zambia but now Eish, we have so many of them coming in and I fear my great-grand children will be colonized for good. Ba kateka show what you are made of by chasing foreigners from our land and do not be afraid we will be behind you, or better still eat up a raw heart of a lion you will be amazed how fierce you will become, we need you to be fierce not humble.

  7. Musulman temunobe! You will regret those moves you are now making. Could it be that these masqueraders are actually Islamists themselves despite supporting tabernacle constructions and religious affairs outfits!? While America is treading softly on matters of that region you are busy rushing headstrong just seeing the green back. Muzaciona ba mambala!

  11. The problem with Lungu is that he first boarded a plane in his late 40’s following being appointed as minister. Now he dreams of traveling abroad every day. He want to sleep on the plane. He is like a kid in a candy store.
