University of Pretoria and Master Card offer scholarships to underprivileged

The University of Pretoria (U.P.) has partnered with Master Card Foundation to offer scholarships to the underprivileged.

The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Programme targets economically disadvantaged young people in various African communities whom it aims to empower so that they could later be able to contribute to the transformation of the continent.

Applicants from outside South Africa are expected to meet requirements of the Universities of South Africa in order to be awarded the scholarship.

The applicants are also required to have been admitted to the University of Pretoria to study in the fields of Engineering, Agriculture Science and Economics and Information Technology in order to apply for the scholarship.

Meanwhile, University of Pretoria Recruitment Officer Asanda Vumazonke and Administrative Assistant Lebohang Sebiloane will be in Zambia from 2nd April, 2017 to hold sensitization meetings with learning institutions in Lusaka, Kabwe and the Copperbelt in readiness for the 2018 entries.

This is according to a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by First Secretary for Press at the Zambian High Commission in Pretoria, Nicky Shabolyo.

  1. YOUR GOVERNMENT HAS FAILED TO SPONSOR YOU AND YOU THINK FOREIGN COMPANIES CAN DO A BETTER JOB. GO TO UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA AND WHEN THOSE ZULUS START RIOTING THEY WILL BUTCHER YOU.

  2. WHY does UNZA just handover the academic records of all thos students the crazy PF cannot sponsor? This news is worthless if you consider that some of our qualifying kids could be as far as Lumezi where there is no internet and cannot read about anything sensible due to the death of The Post!

  3. “Death of the Post”, sweetest news ever especially that UPNDonkeys now confirm this fact, as above!

  4. They are recruiting or is it marketing. Universities by nature survive on student numbers and research funds as well as contract research financing. If this does not happen then they turn to Govt and become a basket case as is the case of most African Universities. It is very sad indeed.

  5. And then a decade down the line you will be wondering where and why there are no qualified Zambians manning Zambian institutions like UNZA, UTH, Zesco, Zamtel, Zamnet, CE et al. I hate to say it, but but the current leadership we have is a bunch of idi#ts. I see no strategic moves for the future in all they do. They go to China, Israel to so called learn, wtf, we are still making no progress in agriculture, power generation, education, health and economic diversification.

  6. African nature is to criticise opportunities until they see them working for others. We are foreigners and we benefited, butchering can happen anywhere on the globe as long as there is political instability including in Zambia. Rather south Africa is a better devil than the Zambian poverty.
