Zesco United’s CAF Confederation Cup match against Egyptian side Smouha will proceed on Saturday as scheduled despite the three-day national mourning that will end tomorrow.
President Edgar Lungu has declared three days of national mourning from Thursday to Saturday in honour of freedom fighter Salome Kapwepwe who will be put to rest on Saturday.
The widower of nationalist Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe died on Monday aged 90.
“The CAF Confederation Cup fixture between Zesco United and Smouha of Egypt will go on as scheduled,” FAZ acting general secretary Sam Phiri said on Friday.
The match set for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium will kick start Zesco’s campaign in the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
