A Manager at Gemcanton Mines, the second largest emerald mine located in Kitwe on the Copperbelt has been deported over the ongoing shareholding misunderstandings.

Sergey Kuznetsov who is the manager in charge of the strong room where the emeralds are kept was deported this morning.

His lawyer Dickson Jere comfirmed Mr. Kuznetsov deportation to his native country Russia saying he left the country in an Ethiopian Airline flight to Moscow via Addis Ababa.

According to Hot FM News, Mr. Jere could not give more details and referred all queries to Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo who also referred the queries to the Immigration Department.

In November 2017, a combined team of police and immigration officers captured and deported the Chief Executive Officer of the same company Eli Neaffussy.

  1. When the upper layers are PF are all in the pocket of a millionaire Senegalese mafia mine owner, anything is possible.

Hell , that Senegalese boss is even in charge of Zambias emerald auctions abroad….

    • LT, this is poor reporting. Remember the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW, WHY. Always give a brief summary of the WHY… You didn’t address that question in your article. Journalism 101. WHY was he deported? Don’t assume that all your readers know what’s going on.

    • @Lie detector
please keep an eye out for such blunders in Zedian journalism. It really needs vigilant readership because it now has completely no regard for its audience. They throw half-baked rubbish at us all the time and since we don’t complain they think it’s alright

  2. “A Manager at Gemcanton Mines has been deported over the shareholding misunderstandings”. I don’t understand what the author is trying to convey. Can someone shade more light. Can a person be deported over the shareholding misunderstandings of the company? My thought is that the owners of the company are supposed to sort out misunderstanding.

  3. It must be connected to some scam! I don’t understand why Zambia is so poor when celebrities like Angelina Jolie to Ashton Kutcher’s wife Mila Kunis actual wear and promote our gems. These celebrities host exclusive VIP events and models our very own gems. What is going on? Some late night TV shows promote rings, bracelets among other things using these gems and a ring costs in the thousands. The question again is why does Zambia let these guys get away with murder! Something went wrong somewhere and maybe someone did not get their cut so this guy was deported!

  4. Seems the reason’s not been reported elsewhere. Must have been smuggling our gems big time!

  5. People, there is millions of dollars at stake , there are no explanations, no rules no protocol, he who controls the kapoyongo has power….

  6. The guy in question was not deported for shareholding misunderstanding, he was fired from the company for under performance allowing the company to lose out revenue .
This has nothing to do with PF as purported by the watchdog, this is an internal management matter.
The fact is that the guy was not deported,he was dismissed and issued with a dismissal letter which can be availed here.
