Government will this week hold the first ever Education Conference aimed at transforming the education sector in Zambia.
The conference that will run from 15th to 18th January 2018 at Mulungushi Conference Centre, will be co-hosted by Ministries of General and Higher Education under the theme “improving the quality of Zambia’s Education”.
Minister of Higher Education Nkandu Luo said government wants to transform the education sector in order to empower youths with skills development.
Professor Luo explained that the transformation agenda calls for a multi-sectorial approach from both government and managements of higher institutions of learning.
She underscored that the conference will be a good platform for the general citizenry and education authorities to concretize ideas on education transformation.
And Minister of General Education, David Mabumba said the conference will also establish alternative financing modes to the education sector in Zambia.
Mr Mabumba said 250 participants will host the education conference from various sectors and countries such United Kingdom and Malaysia among others.
The two ministers where speaking in Lusaka today during the joint Press briefing by both Ministries of General and Higher Education.
Over the years, Zambia has been going through different national development cycles in a quest to attain its vision of being a middle income country by 2030.
Government will this week hold the first ever Education Conference aimed at transforming Nkandu Luo and David Mabumba s’ pockets.
Govt must learn to involve and work with students themselves but know how Luo is anti students and she will only need her puppet students and guild as show-off
YES PLEASE GO AHEAD AND PAY HEFTY PERDIEM TO ALL ATTENDEES MAKE SURE BRING ALL TEACHERS COUNTRY WIDE REGARDLESS OF THEIR POLITICAL AFFILIATION
Luo is dictator, she should have been minister of defence.
Good observation. This would have suited her the fact that she looks ‘man-like’.
“And Minister of General Education, David Mabumba said the conference will also establish alternative financing modes to the education sector in Zambia.”
That’s all these lazy empty tins know it all about begging and charity …when it comes to using taxpayers funds they want luxury first like State House and expensive Toll Gates
This is a joke. A conference should be the last stages of the transformation process. The stages should have been like this:
1. Identify what areas of education are irrelevant, areas to be transformed: curriculum? staffing? academic? skills?student enrolment?etc
2. Research on the identified areas and topics, involve all stakeholders: students at all levels, rural and urban, teachers at all levels, rural and urban, learning institutions at all levels, private sector job markets, government, random education systems in selected countries.
3. call for conference to to discuss the research findings
4. select the most relevant and propose to government.
5. implement the transformation
She is a dictator. She vowed this morning to exclude student bodies who don’t support her or she doesn’t like. ZANUSU is target.
Mrs Luo,
Can you pleas devise and include an environmental awareness subject for all primary schools.
At least 90% of people in Zambia have gone to primary school. If students are taught waste disposal, keeping our water resources clean and looking after our natural environment, the very next year you will notice improved levels of cleanliness in our communities and cities.
From primary schools students should be taught to be patriotic and proud and defensive of Zambia’s natural environment. Trees and minerals and other natural resources must be protected from a young age.
Zambia’s natural wealth belongs to Zambians , for the benefit of Zambians. No one else will look after our country if we do not teach our people to do so.
