Government to revise incentives for investors in the Multi Facility Economic Zones

The government says it is revising incentives for investors in the Multi-Facility Economic Zones to make the hubs more attractive and updated to global trends.

Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Christopher Yaluma says Government wants to come up with a set of incentives that will stand the test of time and create an enabling environment for local and foreign investors.

Mr. Yaluma says investors will be engaged for input in the incentives review process to ensure that the best decisions that suit all parties are made.

The Minister says once views and consultations from stakeholders are consolidated, a proposal will be presented to the Ministry of Finance, Cabinet and Parliament for subsequent approvals.

Mr. Yaluma said this in an exclusive interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka when he visited the Lusaka South Multi Facility Economic Zone where he also checked on operations at Big Tree Limited, a Trade Kings subsidiary which manufactures beverages.

  1. Development after development. We in pf government do while upnd talk. Would you rather have talkers or doers?

  2. The only sensible thing he has done since being appointed to this Ministry is to fire Fisho Mwale, the vulture fund character although the reasons might be senseless. Yaluma is another passenger in the Cabinet

  4. Kaizer you always sound like a cheerleader even when there is nothing to be excited about. What your government ALWALYS when they talk of “incentives” is TAX holidays for foreign companies, which Zambians are never given. And as a result Zambia is a country were foreigners run the economy & indigenous Zambians are left on the tu ntemba. All towns centres in Zambia are taken by foreigners. In lusaka, from kamwala up to town its just foreigners owning & selling from shops. Zambia sale on the floor. Same with all town. Industries don’t exist for Zambians. And Kaizer misuses words like development. Pathetic losers, this government.

  5. This Trade king guy seem to have benefited so much from government corruption especially under PF….indians are very good at bribing and corruption…..he is the Zambian version of the the South African Guptas…mbava

  6. IT IS NOT ABOUT ATTRACTING AN INVESTER TO COME TO ZAMBIA. ZAMBIA IS FOR ZAMBIANS AND IS NOT FOR THOSE COMING FROM OUTSIDE BUT TO BETTER THE LIVELY HOOD OF ZAMBIANS.
INDUSTRIALISATION IS THE KEY TO MAKE ZAMBIA STRONG. WE NEED FACTORIES AND NOT HAND OUTS FROM OUTSIDE.

  7. Failures and lazy folk like bongoz above will always find every excuse under the sun to justify their own failure. This includes being xenophobic. And yet when south Africa attacked our people the same f00ls cried foul.

  8. The Minister should also have looked at reduction in rentals at these facilities which are exorbitant thus pushing away local investors.
