The list of MMD members condemning MMD Party Spokesperson Benny Tetamashimba for his remarks on succession has started growing. The MMD Youths in Luanshya have called for his resignation over his succession utterances.
MMD District Youth Treasurer Paul Chiwaya told ZANIS in an interview that such utterances were unacceptable and irresponsible.
Mr. Chiwaya said the remarks are from a desperate and power-hungry man who has no heart for the President and the party.
He said that it was unfortunate that when most Zambians, including those from the opposition, were praying for the quick recovery of Dr. Mwanawasa, Mr. Tetamashimba is more concerned about succession issues.
Mr. Chiwaya said the MMD National Executive Committee (NEC) should find a way of stopping such over- zealous members from issuing such statements to the press.
He has since appealed to all peace-loving Zambians to continue praying for the speedy recovery of Dr. Mwanawasa.
And the MMD in Kasama Central in Northern Province has added its voice in condemning the statement issued by Mr. Tentamashimba.
MMD Kasama Central Constituency chairperson Nathan Ilunga told ZANIS that Mr. Tetamashimba’s statement should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves as it is outrageous.
Mr. Ilunga accused Mr. Tetamashimba of being irresponsible and appealed to the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to find ways of restraining him before he causes confusion in the party.
He charged that there was no difference between Mr. Tentamashimba and Malone Zaza who erroneously tipped a South African Radio Station that President Mwanawasa had died.
Mr. Ilunga said the MMD convention will choose the successor to President Mwanawasa at an appropriate time.
The MMD constituency chairman has since appealed to all well-meaning party members to continue praying for the quick recovery of President Mwanawasa so that he can come and resume his normal duties.
And in Mazabuka, the ruling party in the district has since called on Mr. Tentamashimba to unreservedly apologize to the party, the nation and to President Mwanawasa.
District party chairman Trywell Himoonga told ZANIS in Mazabuka today that Mr. Tentamashimba’s remarks are highly provocative and ill-conceived.
Mr. Himoonga charged that Mr. Tentamashimba should not be talking about succession when the entire nation is pre-occupied with praying for the quick recovery of the President.
He urged the party National Executive Committee (NEC) to act with a sense of urgency and take necessary action against Mr. Tentamashimba for issuing a statement that borders on dividing the party and misleading the public on the gravity of the ailment of the President.
Mr. Himoonga said people are bound to think that the President will never function hence the party’s desire to replace him.
He said MMD will have difficulties to convince people in villages that the President is well due to such irresponsible utterances.
And speaking to Daily Mail yesterday, MMD national secretary Katele Kalumba said President Mwanawasa had already initiated a constitutional process to change the party leadership.“As far as leadership change is concerned, President Mwanawasa has already initiated a constitutional process which demands that elections will start at the levels of branches, wards, constituency, district, provincial before the national convention.
He said the party saw no cause for any abrupt discussion of President Mwanawasa’s successor upon his return. He said the MMD had not received any report from Government or any other source suggesting that President Mwanawasa would be unable to provide party leadership upon his return.
Dr Kalumba, further disclosed that Mr Tetamashimba had written a letter to The Post newspaper, copied to him, indicating that he was partly misrepresented.
However, the same Daily Mail source quoted Mr Tetamashimba as saying he wondered why people were making an issue out of this matter.
“I don’t know why people want to make mountains out of this. They have misplaced motives. Katele never defended the President when some woman attacked him, but I did,” he said.
Mr Tetamashimba wondered what Dr Kalumba was up to by rising from nowhere and start defending the President after he got sick.
He alleged that Dr Kalumba had never defended the President and had even stopped helping him to campaign for MMD candidates during election periods.
ENDS/HC/AM/ZANIS
This is a national matter with 10 million plus lives at steak. We need direction and it is no doubt important to plan ahead. We do not want to be stuck without a plan tomorrow. We have a fragile economy prone to instabilty from knee jerk reactions. We will one day have to face these tough tough questions but at least we could start now. Viva Teta.
Leave him alone. Seen from the African tradition, he may be judged as “heartless and a witch” but seen from the political scenario it is the truth that needs to be tabled. Besides, it is the Party presidency that I feel he was talking about.
Teta is on the money!!! what is the big deal??? I cant understand the fuss in MMD.That is just the honest truth!!!! Zambia is not a monarchy!!!!
He he he he ..it is show time baby!!! Girls & Boys brace yourselves for the battle of bootlickers. First shots first Mashimba is right that Katele has come out from nowhere with a huge tongue for licking the LPM boots. I guess Teta bruised his when he over licked during the Ms Moonga’s tribalist saga. Well lets see how this fight unfolds interesting development
Is this worse off compared to what President Mugabe is reportedly to have said on allafricadotcom?

President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe has for once admitted that he has something to learn from another African country. The controversial leader has always insisted that there is nothing any person or country in the world could teach him or his country Zimbabwe.
MMD in limbo.
ctd from #5
When some African leaders recently suggested at the African summit in Egypt that Zimbabwe forms a government of national unity along the lines of the one in Kenya, President Mugabe rejected the suggestion, saying that the crisis in Zimbabwe will be resolved “the Zimbabwean way” and not the Kenyan way, despite the similarities between the two countries’ political situations.
Both Zimbabwe and Kenya were thrown into a political crisis following disputed elections. But while Kenya resolved its political troubles by forming a unity government comprising ruling and opposition party leaders, President Robert Mugabe has rejected the idea of adopting the same model in Zimbabwe.
ctd from #7
He insists that Zimbabwe has all the answers to its problems.
But in a rather surprising change of mind, President Mugabe now says there is one thing he can learn from another person or country.
“I must confess that I am extremely impressed by how the President of Zambia, Mr. Levy Mwanawasa, has not died from a stroke. When the chap collapsed in Egypt, we were all sure he was gone. But many days later, and despite reports to the contrary, he is still alive and kicking. I may not like the man, but that is one thing I can learn from him: how not to die,” Mr. Mugabe told diplomats from China, Micronesia and Nauru in Harare.
ctd from #8.
Among African leaders, Zambia’s Levy Mwanawasa has been one of the very few critics of President Mugabe. It is therefore assumed that Mugabe would have wanted to see Mwanawasa dead.
“I obviously don’t like the guy, but I like his ability to defy death. At my age, it is quite likely that I could suffer a stroke too. It is therefore important, much as I dislike the fellow, to learn from him how not to die when you are hit by a stroke at such an advanced age,” Mugabe said.
ctd from #9
According to sources who attended Mugabe’s briefing of the remaining diplomats in Harare, the aged President of Zimbabwe said he would be the first to call Mwanawasa, once he recovered, for tips on how to survive a stroke.
“Zambia may not be such a bad country to learn something from after all,” he reportedly said.
Yes, Teta for the first time ih his life is right. Mwanawawasa is sick and we need to look at replacing him. The Katele Kalumbas are just playing to the gallery. Underground they are campagning while pretending to be with Levy. And why this hypocrisy about prayer suddenly? Even thieves are now encouraging us to pray as the if the bible ever said that any prayer shall be answered. It the prayer of the righteous that God Answers not those with sick motives. And let us leave Mugabe alone. We can’t claim to better than he, unless people don’t read
Katele never defended the President when some woman attacked him, but I did,” he said.
Which woman attacked the president, Does any one know?
for once vejee you have said something sensible, zambians if not the majority of africans despise the truth even when its right in their face they will deny it.
#12 it is the ex-MMD NEC member Ms Moonga who called LPM a tribalist. Just search this site for the Ms Moonga. She has since been expelled from MMD.
these fools just wanna stir up something that is not there…. teta is useless but he is right on this one!!! just being realistic!! F##k katele
hey!! I smell some rat here,Teta is right in all ways and utterances.Let MMD find a leader and as LPM comes back,he’s just coming to surrender.you chaps should not pretend and yet you are the same chaps who laugh at LPM if he makes a mistake due to ill health.Teta, blow thw whistle and all the animals will dance to the gallery….all along we ‘ve known you to be a barking dog but now!!you are a brave and courageous man.we salute you.thanx for thinking so straight and wise.
Teta is absolutely right. These bootlickers wanna paint him as the devil. We need to know our leaders in the making. No human lives forever. The current situa is a wake up call for planning ahead for leaders at all levels.
I am not a fan of Teta whom i know personally, but he was right on this one for once. yhere is something wrong with our politicians or need i say zambians, because the calibre of our piliticians is a true reflection of the zambian pipo. the same way we made KK wamuyaya, screamed Chiluba God sent and let him go for third term, we miss opportunities to make decisions in time. F**k MMD,, this is about zambia as a country not a dogone political party!!!
who is the brother in the picture???
Its Br. Teta. LT you should put footnotes on your pictures.
19, thats teta, where have you been?
Viva Teta,
Now listen country men. MMD chaps know that new Presido is enevitable. They are busy holding dark corner meetings, while stopping Teta from talking. The guy knows what he is talking about. Katele and the others facing corruption charges are brewing something in their backyards. We know them, its a big relief for them, if they can get someone in who can pardon and acqyuite them.
People where is Xavier Chungu. As an Intelligence Guy I appeal to you to use your connexions in France to get us a photo of our sick Presido. If you get the Photo, We the bloggers pardon you of all the crimes you have been “falsely” accused dah!! Signed acting presido at the Blog
Hahahahahahahah!
so far no cabinet member has criticised Tetamashimba. those making noise are proper party cadres whose lives depend wholly on LPM’s mercy. we should expect such utterances from those people. what do the big fish in cabinet say?
I agree with you 18. We fail to make decisions in good time, just like the way Zambian Town Clerks overstay in offices, we are watching! one day they will be forced out. One such example is Ali Simwinga of Kitwe. As long as they dont limit time of office in the office of Town Clerks the local government will not move forward. PIPO of Zambia, our president should be medically discharged. Failure to accept reality will result in something else. Let him retire so that he doesnt suffer a third stroke, this is the right time.
Why is the post web site suddenly blank
Their are don’t do leadership lessons to be leantfrom all this circus where even Clowns like Teta can clearly see. Let’s learn from the mandela way of life where he has now retired from tirement cherising to spend his time with family.don’t mislead levy those people by the bedside plus other family members value him more than the cowards like lembalemba. A leader should have a succession plan, otherwise we go mugabe way.
Mabenge, Mulongoti and NEC where are you. These guys cant tell us that from 06:00 to 24:00hrs when they sleep(if at all)they are loyally serving the Zambian people without fear or favor. During this time, they imply to us, everyone of them is restraining himself from calling his mates or even sms to discuss these issues like the bloggers here. No! No! No!. They are talking! And they have been leaving Teta out. And he is pissed. Teta is normally a careful Guy he just cant blut out like that for no good reason.
He want these discussions to be done openly in the Party not by the G-8 in dark corners. Read between the lines people. I will post some more let me get to work. Any one found Xavier
Teta for president
Pipo have misundertood Teta. What he said is what should have happened a long time ago.
In the Bible Moses had Joshua, but Joshua never groomed any one. So please let pipo with courage speak.
Those condemnations on Teta are misplaced, they are just afraid to come in the open.
# 25, I agree with you on Ali Simwinga. The man has overstayed and has had no new vision for the City of Kitwe. Expansion of the City by claiming land at the slimes dam in Nkana East near Mutondo offices, building of intercity bus terminus, city markets, expansion of the city beyond Riverside with construction of a bridge on Kafue River are projects that either have not been done or have been on paper for 20 years or more. Please surrender positions to people with a new vision.
I didnt know how much i loved Mwanawasa until i heard the news of his “passing on”.
He has run his race and i believe we need to encourage him to rest.He has left a legacy never to be deleted. My advice to all Zambians is to debate with sober minds. What has happened to Levy can happen to any one.
Having said that i believe it is timely to IMMEDIATELY look into his successor. What i see in a lot of our leaders is that they are in denial and full of hypocrisy. One point though that MMD cadres and leaders are not reading in between the lines is that people still want your party to continue because for some reason they may like your policies or Levy’s acomplishments

how sick is this man going to be before these characters stop forcing him to be president? what sickness can beat being in ICU? the man has worked hard for this country and needs a lot of rest, lots of rest. i don’t think there is anything with somebody talking about his replacement. bootlicking too much in zambia.
THERE GOES THE MMD, THE SAME WAY UNIP WENT
I do not see any wrong I what Tentamashimba said but I can assure you that there is a dirty politician behind all of the MMD criticism against him. These MMD carders are contradicting themselves by first saying they are praying for our presidents quick recovery but they do not want to talk about leadership. We are all praying because Pres Levy is in a bad state. We will live
in denial if we do not talk about who should take over. Ariel Sharon of Israel had a stroke in 2006 and he has not recovered since. There is no problem in planning for a rainy day. Lets begin
to brain storm about Levy’s successor. It is a healthy atmosphere. Zambia is a full democracy but the MMD carders want to take u
NO. 31. Thank you, may be your comment will open eyes of pipo who can’t see. Pipo of Zambia, learn to make hay while the sun is still shining. Mwilaunmfwila ku Nkanda.
Clearly,Teta is being realistic but sadly some disgruntled MMD members are trying to gain political mileage on him.Guess thats how the political game is played in Zambia, Coz Teta in a different situation would have done the same.
MMD needs to wake up & seriously look at the future otherwise, they will be worse off then UNIP come 2011 & beyond.
They must redeem the future or anything left of the future now,coz tomorrow might just be too late for them.
Mugabe wama seting mudala! Ale setting ba Levy! He will come harmer you when he is out of that French hospital!
us back to stone age. Zambians, lets brainstorm or we shall be left in a vacuum. I personally would love to see President Mwanawasa back to the drivers seat but what happens if he does not come back on time. Abash oppressors and viva for people like Tentamashimba who are able to recognise a crisis.
Teta is the party spokes man and for him to have made those remarks it is a clear indication that alot other MMD members are of the idea of a suuccession plan for Levy. and to counter that Kaunda Lemba Lemba has organised the party low lives to start making noise. Indeed MMD is split into factions . In the time to come we will see expulsions and suspensions and then MMD will say goodbye to existence
Uncultured as this sounds but i think TETA the ***** has a point.Levy wont be able to carry on hopefully if he pulls through.
Dr Katele Kalumba, I am one of your friends speaking anonimously. You raised a lot of positive things when you responded towards Tenta’s comments, but knowing you, your comments
were slick, they are the one’s that caused the carders to react. If you needed Tentamashimba to speak through your party structure you should have also set an example by saying no comment to the press and calling for a meeting to deal with the issue. Even now you have the authority to stop all these carders from making all the unnecessary comments. Everybody now knows that you are behind these attacks because you are not stopping the comments from flowing. Ba MMD party secretary
ok Chamboli-Wusakile (#5,7,8,9,10) and #33-#36: i just can’t handle the posting of this article AGAIN. i’ve seen it posted all over LTimes on articles that have nothing to do with mugabe…
people shouldn’t inflame and stir the pot with misinformation. that particular article you keep posting is NOT REAL. it is a real article that appeared in the Weekly Observer in the HUMOR SECTION. it is written by an columnist called “The Analyst” and is essentially similar to a Kalaki piece… it’s called political satire.
Just wanted to clear up that info for those who were wondering. and next time you want to copy & paste and spread questionable information, CHECK YOUR SOURCE!!!
Ya Simwinga. Ko ma mwayikala pali bu TC
Mugabe suffers from fear of not being in power. This disease can be very deadly to their victims. It has been known to result in inflation in the country, lack of ideas, sleeping during important meetings, pissing in pants in planes, wanting to be right all the time you name it. In serious cases it has caused civil war. There is no known cure for this ailment. People who have survived it have built resistance to it, very few indeed, like KK and Mandela. Most die in power or are eliminated by the barrel of the gun to save the country from such sick men.
Fellow Zambians the fight against CORRUPTION is not Levy’s fight. Come on Zambian its our fight against injustice.
Atleast for Teta he is open, maybe Katele knows the truth he is now trying to be on Levy’s side, remember his Laptop technology which uses [traditional infra red] its able to keep at eye in Percy Military Hospital
Thanks Kansas No. 47 for clearing the air, atleast with Comrade Mugabe’s maturity he cant attack Comrade Levy like that.
Teta, is very correct. The Country can not continue to burry its jead and be led by demagogues like RB who possibly have been lying to us about LPM illness and status.
Mugabe’s comment should be scrutinized further than what he stated. this could me something unimaginable. Keep your heads up.. Let us check these MMD guys closely and why they are not tlling us the trueth or near trueth.
Thanks Kansas.
no problem… the situation can end up spinning out of control if we don’t check ourselves. enjoy what’s left of your day.
I have never liked Teta but the fact of the matter is that he was right to suggest for a leadership search in MMD. Teta and Zaza are definitely going to be our pawns for the truth, because the authorities will by mistake show us video crips of LMP lying in bed and conduited with wires, tubes and more certainly a container of oxygen. As many perceptions are created over the health of the president surely a number of reactions from the gov will lead to the truth.
Teta’s political insticts are strong, he easily loses principles for gold, am sure he is certain that LMP is not coming back, if he will then in a vegetative state. This is a hollywood classic, expect more in the next episodes.
Kansas though I had indicated my source as all africa dot com. But thanks still!
Not so long ago when LPM was well and alive, TetaMatako was in the fore front condenming those who showed interest in the presidency (have in mind Chirwa) how can he turn around now and say it is now time to chose Levy’s succession
the prblem we have in Africa is that we never plan ahead Teta is 100% right… a plan has to be made just in case something happens whats the delay anyway of choosing LPM successor? plz think ahead..as a matter of fact this man has balls to say such a thing ..good man!!!!!! why yall scared of the President like that?
Tekanyanai imwe! Wina azlila.
Tekanyani imwe! Wina azalila.
Players do work, but in Zambia we are jokers. If we claim that prayers can develop a nation, Zambia would have been advanced. Ladies n Gentlemen effort, courage & prayers are nothing without purpose and direction!!!!!
#7, Chacine uliwaku Chamboli..your contributions are way too long and way off target. They don’t make sense in this context. Anyway, the main issue here is that Teta speaks before he thinks. That is why he is always finding himself in holes he’s dug himself…its not wise to speak out what is on everyone’s mind all time. Common sense tells me that what is obvious will always find itself in the arena of discussion, one way or another…be wise Teta…naiwe wine Chamboli!!
teta is right this time. MMD has no candidate for next elections, they are busy discrediting each other instead of uniting to defend the office. come election time it will be late. we all know the Veep came from UNIP which does not make him a strong contender for the job. the search should start now
pipo mmd is just aparty which befo chiluba outmanuvad hself by apptng LPM was on the brink of collapse. The currnt comedy gives us an opportunity to analise how useless MMD withoutLPM is.First itis RB n GM weeping like mourners then they blame Zaza for believing that LPM is no more. Then they claim that cabinet is intact but in the same breath tell us that the entire cabinet will decide wat to do about Zaza s misdeameanour something that can be done by a junio police officer.Wat a bunch of jokers
There is plenty of human resources in the mother land. Remeber people used to and still call LPM cabage. I believe most the country’s economic boom has nothing to do with LPM but just the right time. If he can be president trust me you have more than 2 million people who can be. Stop whinning. If LPM resurrects he still wont be able to lead. The era of LPM is gone. Teta is just telling the inconvenient truth. Arial sharon of israel is still in a coma. What supprises me with human beings is why we have chosen to understand the death phenomenon. There is only one guurantee in life. ie we all gona die, ifs not a question of if, its when. So why do we all get so confussed when we are faced…..
Yes Teta is right, but in life you choose and pick your moments…you just dont blurt things out just because you are right. e.g you don’t talk about inheritance when the body is still in the mortuary….fact is there be will be inheritance like it or not but you look foolish if you blurt it out around the funeral fire!!!
This reminds me of the first gulf war, when Saddam Hussein was attacked, he did not know whether to flee or close his eyes, Katele and his cohorts (bootlicker) surely cannot see beyond their noses, like someone said, Teta just said what everyone is saying privately, even Kaande, Mulongoti and Katele himself are discussing this thing, so Katele and your conglomerate be the first to cast the stone.
#66 someone had to say it and you cannot claim to have a private life when you are a public figure, LPM is a public figure that is why he us being discussed publicly, the unfortunate thing is that Teta was the first guy to rubbish some MMD members when they talked about succession a few months ago even prompting LPM to issue a statement that he would fire any minister campaigning for the MMD president ofcourse he said using GRZ resources.
death? Well probably its because we miss them or most of the time our economical survival depends on the person who died. I think a loss of a kid should be more distressing than the death of a person who lived their life. My point we all gonna die. Sort out the economical burden you are going to leave behind get an insurance policy to take care of your kids. Just be responsible live your life knowing that its just a matter of time. write a will for crying out loud
i think Mr Teta, lucks timing on issues not tool long ago
when the 26 PF MPS WAS EXPELLED from there Party Teta , said that MMD will get them all just after that same President who is in Hospital today ,rep reminded him of making the statements without consulting the executive officials ,and then he was forgiven by now i don’t know knowing that this is not his first time but the second even the third ,
what he should know that
1 , he is not true MMD he is from UPND,
2, he should know the MMD well
3, MMD is in tow groups
1, FTJ boys those who still pay omege till now eg Katele and others
2, LPM the likes of shakafwasa mpombo and others
so i dont know if he knows about a
I THINK WE SHOULD TRY THIS YOUG MAN HH. I KNOW US BEMBAZI HAVE A PROBLEM WITH TONGAZI BUT THE FACT IS THAT HE IS THE BEST OPTION AT THE MOMENT.LPM AND SATA ARE BOTH SOME KIND OF VEGETABLES SO IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON.
AT THE END OF THE DAY EVERY TRIBE HAS GOOD AND BAD PEOPLE EVERY RACE HAS GOOD AND BAD PIPO, EVERY RELIOGION HAS GOOD AND BAD SO WHAT IS OUR PROBLEM AS ZAMBIANS LOOK FOR QUALITY FORGET TRIBE
Very interesting debates here. Tentamashimba could be very right actually but i feel its the timing that is entirely wrong and appears evil. Why did he not say that before Mwanawasa flew to Egypt? Why still cant he wait till whatever happens to LPM happens – I mean his anticipated recovery or indeed even the worst? Certain matters need to be discussed at an appropriate time!
President Mwanawasa continues to receive medical treatment
Friday, 11 July 2008
MEDIA STATEMENT
UPDATE REPORT ON THE CONDITION OF HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT, DR LEVY P MWANAWASA, SC –
11 July 2008
His Excellency the President, Dr Levy P Mwanawasa, SC, continues to receive medical treatment at the Percy Military
Hospital in Paris, France.
The medical team is encouraged and satisfied with the current status and over the last two (2) days, his condition has
remained stable.
ISSUED BY: HONOURABLE RUPIAH B BANDA, MP
VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA
DATED: 11 JULY 2008
MMD fipuba sana!Teta is right!!
let us find a new leader!
If mmd is not ready,we are going to put an opposition leader!
I’m sick of these stupid kaponyas who are not educated.
LMP is sick!Do those kaponyas now what’s stroke?it’s the 2time now!
where on this earth can a person continue runing a country even if u like power?
The president will never come back!Ask doctors you stupid kaponyas!
I’m sorry for my comments but i’m talking the truth!
I really love zambia!
I fail to find anything wrong with teta’s comments. We need a contigency plan. If LPM is still stable chances are that he will remain stable for a long time but the nation needs to move forward; it doesnt need to be stable. Zambia is not a monarchy as rightly pointed out by some on this sight but even in a monarchy they have someone already lined up and all they wait for is the death certificate and they take over. Should we wait until LPM is dead or incapacitated before we start planning? That would be stupid for a country with 10 million people. Ladies and Gentlemen, there is nothing heartless about the succession talk but all I can see is ‘realism’.Is he still STABLE any info?
RB, Please for the first time tell the nation the truth or atleast the meaning of the word STABLE. Tell us is he stable while in coma? When Kabila senior was shot dead in congo’s capital the ther government maintained for a number of days that he was in Namibia and receiving treatment and in a stable condition. Perharps its time to revisit Zaza’s story and weigh it on its own merits. Mbeki said he was told by the SADC executive secretary but who told the SADC executive secretary did he hear from radio 702? I doubt! Teta is in govt and GRZ knows more than we do shouldnt we be concerned if one of them talks about the succession issue?RB is a spineless coward who cant tell the nation the truth
All these mugs coming out of the woods and crawling out of their holes have been sent by Katele using the party machinery to intimidate and clear the ground for himself. What revulting behavior.lf zambia goes down the people currently in govt will have alot to answer for for being economical with the truth as regards levys illness. The nation currently is on auto pilot and there is complete paralysis of govt.Which investor would want to invest in the midst of such uncertainty.
Once the president’s healthy condition is release, it will resolve a lot of issues. The ‘update’ will always be “Stable”
he is just expressing his opinion and maybe jump starting his campaign panto, “People who have had a stroke often have:
* Problems with movement and sensation. You may have pain, numbness, or tingling in your arms and legs; muscle stiffness or spasms; weakness; and trouble with walking and moving. You may have problems with your sense of touch or how well you feel hot and cold, trouble swallowing and eating, and urinary or bowel problems.
* Problems seeing things on one side of the body. If you do not turn your head to that side, you may forget or ignore that side of your body.
* Problems with language and thinking. You may not be able to understand written or spoken language,
in addition, “How long does rehab take?
For most people, rehab is a lifelong process. The road to recovery can be long and frustrating, so keeping a positive outlook is key. Try everything you can to get better, and get relief from pain if you need to. Your stroke rehab team is there to help in as many ways as it can. A strong support network of family and friends is also very important.
You may recover the most in the first few weeks or months after your stroke. But you can keep getting better for years. It just may happen more slowly. And it may take a long time and a lot of hard work. Don’t give up hope” so we shud just pray for him, but start considering the options
elyo, “Emotional reactions after a stroke may be different from normal emotional reactions.
* The reaction may have little or no obvious connection with what is happening around the person.
* Often reactions can be easily interrupted by diverting the person’s attention.
People who have had a stroke-usually in the front part of the brain or in the brain stem-can lose emotional control and may switch from crying to laughing for no apparent reason.
* Crying appears to be the most frequent problem. Crying can be a symptom of depression, which is a medical condition that requires treatment. Untreated depression can interfere with recovery. Too much pressure for the man!!
UNIP is back in power. This is a little know fact that RB is not a member of MMD he is a UNIP member. That means UNIP will run the country for atleast 90 days after LPM is officially declared dead or incapacitated. This my friends is why there is so much confussion in MMD right now. The party has NO VP. Believe it or not LPM never had confidence in the MMD leadership thats why he consistantly looked outside MMD for the vice president. Thats why you need leaders who look beyond themselves. MMD as a party dont know what to do. Constitutionally they can’t remove RB. In the 90 days RB can fire all MMD carbinet ministers and replace them with UNIP members and there is nothing MMD can do about it.
When MMD decide to conven a meeting to discuss the future RB will not attend because he is not part of the NEC. i wont be suprised if RB apoints Miyanda as VP when he becomes president in the next few weeks. This is the begining of the end of MMD.
I think about what the real condition of Levy is and all I get is “stable”, “he had a good night”, “was taken for a small operation to improve his breathing”. Am sick of these carefully drafted statements by the VP. We as a nation need more, no matter how bad the situation. Teta is right, the country lacks a proper plan in case of a crisis. The man in question is the head of the country and commander in chief. Why was Mpombo and RB shedding tears in the open at the cathedral if the condition was that simple and “stable”. Government has not explained why our president was moved from Egypt to France- a flight of about 5 hours.Once LPM is back, let him rest and others take over ASAP.
Teta is talking about the MMD Presidency not national Presidency and he is right to express his opinion but like others say,it’s ill timed as Levy has not been ill for a very long time, maybe if he stays in coma for a month then the MMD party and cabinet should start thinking of replacing him which i suspect they’re already doing quietly.
For those saying it’s a waste of state funds having Levy in a foreign hospital,it should be made clear to you that the Egyptian govt paid for Levy’s treatment in Egypt & the French govt has taken over bills in Paris, the man is loved by all so we pray he wakes up & returns home, call for elections & enjoy his retirement as he has done enough for us.
I really feel sad that up to now we still have some people doubting if the President is indeed alive,do you really think the govt would lie to the whole world, please, give us a break,it’s now over a week and you’re still confused, get it now,the President is alive but critically ill and no one will tell you what the word stable means so don’t expect RB to start giving English lessons on tv coz he reports exactly as he receives the info from Paris, stable will always be stable, google if you want to know the meaning.
The country and govt is ”stable”,no one is panicking as Levy doesn’t rule alone so RB and others are in total control, don’t lie that things are at standstill.
UNIP is back in power. This is a little know fact that RB is not a member of MMD he is a UNIP member. That means UNIP will run the country for atleast 90 days after LPM is officially declared dead or incapacitated. This my friends is why there is so much confussion in MMD right now. Well well well,Teta is at it again. He is always there to defend the president. what a spokesperson who can not get permission from his party acting president, Katele. its a shame though what he said, but he seems to be indicating that Mwanawasa would never function, maybe thats the news that Rupiah should be posting on the State house website unlike giving us the same news every day.
When MMD decide to conven a meeting to discuss the future RB will not attend because he is not part of the NEC. i wont be suprised if RB apoints Miyanda as VP when he becomes president in the next few weeks. This is the begining of the end of MMD. EK should become MMD president.
lets face the facts here gentlemen; this is the second stroke LPM has had in 2006 and now. this simply means that if he survives he will need to rest for the rest of his life so that he does not suffer the same therfore mmmd as a party requires someone to take over the reigns. teta is right and was only saying what the majority are fearing to say.let us not create a vacuum as it will bring chaos in future right now we can entrust
our beloved country into the hands of lupiya banda after shedding tears like a kid instead of being strong at such a moment.lets pray for mwanawasa as we look for a replacement.
Socrates,if RB takes over as President for 90 days, the constitution does not allow him to fire the cabinet appointed by levy, they will be with him until cabinet is disolved just before elections are held.
Katele is not party acting president. When LPM left for egypt he did not hand over party presidency. The constitution only allows the party VP to act as party president but as at now MMD has no part VP. country men what you are seeing is a complete mess that LPM created. not only for MMD but the country.
I love LPM but Teta is being rational. The sooner MMD faced reality the better
#91 there is no provision for that he will be an execute president for 90 days he can hire and fire as he pleases.
#94 I guess you meant Executive President not execute
thanks #95
Socrates, read Articles 38 & 39 of the Zambian constitution, the Acting President is not allowed to disolve the national assembly except when cabinet advises to do so.The acting President is also not allowed by the comstitution to revoke appointments made by the President.
Katele Kalumba is Chief Executive of the party whilst Teta is spokeperson,Teta is wrong to say what he said about Katele’s caution, you cannot tell off your senior especially not in the press however right your opinion is so i expect Teta to be kicked out of MMD,am sure they consider him a foreigner in MMD since he was previously in the opposition and so outspoken.
Teta is right to propose that motion for MMD but he should have waited a lil bit longer, the President has hardly been ill for even month however he is still right, they should start looking for a successor as Levy will not work for a very long time even if he recovers,am sure he will still retire even if he recovers well.
Zedy… I agree but when RB take over presidency for 90 days he wont be acting he will the president of Zambia with all the presidential powers. Well the president may have been in a coma for 2 weeks but what that does is that there is a power vacuum. Just wait and see the Teta Kaka issue will soon deteriolate into a free for all and RB cant nothing about it. (10 He is not MMD NEC member (2) he is acting president with no executive powers. Thats why before things get worse we need RB to take over the presidence for 90 days.
I am really amazed that not a single cabinet minister has been assighned to go visit LPM. How come? are things alright? Where is Chituwo. We need tangable evidence that LPM is alive and kicking. Kuti namwikala kanshi balemubepa ba mambala aba. honestly LPM has been there for 2 weeks and no one in government has travelled to visit him. some photo would do. Even just a telephone conversation with madam maureen. Teta, U are right. we need to move foward.
Socrates……Before the President leaves the country,he is required to hand over to his Veep and am sure he did,if he didn’t we wouldn’t know about it but if you remember well, when Mulongoti was the one giving updates on the President’s condition,he said their is no vacuum as the President had handed over to RB before leaving for Egypt.
RB might not hold an Executive position in MMD however,he may have been appointed a trustee just like Levy was before he became the MMD’s candidate in 2001 then got elected as party President.RB might have come from UNIP but he is MMD now and should be a party trustee and has say but you’re right,i can see infighting starting within MMD shortly.
Chintubwingi…No other Minister has been sent to Paris to see the President because i believe The Health Minister,Chituwo is still there in Paris(he might have returned to Zambia) but he was despatched as soon as the President fell ill.
We will not see a photo or vid of the President because he is Head of State and critically ill, people that are critically ill sometimes foam at the mouth, they have no control of things they do to themselves eg urinating and emptying their bowels just like it happens to AIDS patients etc so forget about that picture you’re yearning for,you will not see it until the President is at least awake moreover, there are strict rules about patient’s privacy in Europe.
people here is what Mugabe said:
I must confess that am extremely impressed by how the President of Zambia, Mr. Levy Mwanawasa, has not died from a stroke. When the chap collapsed in Egypt,we were all sure he was gone. But many days later, and despite reports to the contrary,he is still alive and kicking.I may not like the man,but that is one thing I can learn from him:how not to die…
I obviously don’t like the guy, but I like his ability to defy death. At my age,it is quite likely that I could suffer a stroke too.It is therefore important, much as I dislike the fellow,to learn from him how not to die when you are hit by a stroke at such an advanced age… Zambia may not be such a bad country to learn something
# 104 you seem to be so sure that PLM is alive, what makes you think he is there? Are you also at his bed side?
CONCERNED ZEDIAN:
SERIOUSLY STOP WITH THAT POSTING… refer to my post #47. what you are regurgitating is an article from weekly observer that appears in the HUMOR section. what you are trying to portray as reality is in fact POLITICAL SATIRE. it would the same as someone trying to pass off a Kalaki piece as reality…. i’m becoming seriously annoyed with the lack of maturity, research, and simple logic demonstrated by those of you who continue to post this nonsense story. if you want the link that proves this is a FAKE/HUMOR/SATIRE story let me know — otherwise, do a little research before you spread false stories around as though they are real.
Zeddy, what U are saying is indeed true. I want to take another angle and that is of finding a leader. Really zambia as a country trying to champion democrasy,at least, should be seen to have some direction in all aspects. Leadership succession is one such aspect. We seem to be battling on the issue of who takes the top notch if LPM doesnt come back. The real issue is weather LPM is coming back or not we should start looking for a credible, corupt free, healthy and inteligent leader. for me its not which party this leader comes from but its about one who can deliver. Lets learn from the amricans. Politics is above race or tribe.
#106, I thought so, Mugabe despite his arrogance I think cannot say something like that, I would have thought this is the kind of material BBC. Sky, CNN would have been saying breaking news. Thanks for the correction. Back to Teta, our very religious brothers say “I would rather believe in God and find he does not exist, that not believe and find he actually exists” MMD would do well to do that same, “believe that their leader will not be available to lead the party and turns out he is capable, than believe that he is capable and turn out he is not” that’s my two cents, Teta might have misfired but that is just maybe an opportunity to drive the point home, instead of “I TOLD YOU SO”
Dear Concerned Zedian 103!
please learn this principle as a life lesson, never say anything you don’t understand before verification: how different are you from Zaza. Don’t you understand that such statements are breeding pots of confusions, your brothers you have told from your compounds can start burning innocent zimbabweans. Differentiate satire from reality.
With due respect, mugabe’s selection of words is far much better than what has been quoted. The western media should have made great news out of this! and portray Bob as a heartless fellow.
Adopting the ostrich solution over the LPM problem will not make it go away. Soon or later, we have to contemplate life without him. Zambia is and will always be bigger than one man (or woman).
[70] stick to Chinese!
I rather concur with #110 VeeJay. This condemnation of Teta is why most right thinking and dynamic people do not come to the fore. They are scared of being trampled by dull crooks like Katele Kalumba. I must say Kalumba has been protected by Levy for far too long. Now he is scared of being prosecuted by the next leader, so he is shouting the loudest. In the meantime the rest of the country is in ostrich mode. I don’t usually like what comes out of Teta’s mouth, but this time he is spot on.
No amount of praying will repair someone’s brain if it has been damaged. I find all this superstitious stuff very sad in the 21st century. If these were Indians praying to their gods, Christians would be the first ones to condemn them as idol worshipers. Yet some self appointed ‘men of God’ are forcing this self indulgent clap trap on all of us. We need to face facts, Zambia must go on. A lot of Zambians have died in the last week alone – most from lack of drugs and from preventable diseases. Sadly, their lives account for nothing. The money being spent in France is probably twice the annual budget of Kasama general hospital. When are we going to develop in our thinking?
it’s looks like ba lavy balifwa!!
we have no truth here!
every day stable condition!!
tukofwanko after few days!!
why cnn, bbc, sky and france 24 don’t even talk about it?
doesn’t mean lpm is not famous at all?
MDD please WAKE UP twapapata sana webantu and find a new leader! We are all very sorry about Levy’s ill health but realistically he won’t be there forever. Sooner or later he will have to be replaced. We don’t want our country to go into chaos because there was simply no plan B. That would be ludicrous!!!
Its a fact that Levy will never ever be the same again and we do not need Mugabe or Mbeki to spark another round of Kachepa before this stupid MMD government runs around doing another damage control. The man is now clearly in a vegetative state and it takes only a nation of embaciles to still retain him as president. When Eyadema died, everyone was so scared to have him replaced and while enroute to France to get a second opinion, the man´s son noticed the dad was decomposing and ordered the plane to turn back home. Teta has said the right thing for once in his life, Levy Mwanawasa `kiwa Nyambe´, he´s truly a gonna.
Question 1: How did we end up at this point with leaders such such as Tentamashimba? I mean regardless of the whole Levy health issue, just how do men like Tetamashimba even assume leadership? It beats me! What kind of people are we sure that even Tetamashimba can claim to lead us? It beats me!
Everything in good time. The mark of wisdom is not to panic under pressure and put things in perspective. If LPM is not fit to lead anymore, he is not fit to lead, period. But is at that the most important thing at the moment? How would you feel if you fell sick and all your employers were worried about was who to replace you with? Come on gentlemen. Zambia goes on but not so fast. Speed kills. A few prayers for some ill and giving some one the benefit of doubt will not hurt anyone. After all the wheels are still turning. Zambia is running!
Mwe bantu please, all those calling for teta’s resignation are too cheap and myopic. The economical survival is in politics. They are just opening their mouths for nothing , just to show that they also exist. They are just too cheap to be in leadership. Thats why we need to pay allegiance to the constitution , which is the supreme law of the land and not the president.
Please be realistic, africa has lagged in development because of cheap people like those calling for teta’s blood. Stop making politics a means of economical survival. shame to you.
teta is very right many are very fearful to speak keep on teta go
BE REMINDED IT IS NOT ‘THE ENTIRE NATION PRAYING’ FOR LPM.WE KNOW HE IS THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT BUT HIS HEALTH IS POOR.LET US FACE THE TRUTH THAT IN ZED WE STRUGGLE,CUT EACH OTHER JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE A ‘VACUUM OF LEADERS’.IT’S SMALL WONDER WHY POLITTCAL PARTIES IMPORT PEOPLE LIKE RB,LPM,NEVERS etc, etc.DONT ATTACK TETA FOR NOW .HE HAS A POINT.ZED IS SO WIDE A COUNTRY TO RUN OUT OF GOOD LEADERS.CHECK!
surely lelo teta becomes a shetani. why didnt they rise against him when he put forward maureens name as a female presidential candidate, not just a party presido but ntambalukuta.
i c double standards in MMD will never end. mean while katele is supposed to be attending court sessions. he shud never be allowed to insult the zambian pipo again and if he thinks his magic will last forever, he is mistaken.
teta is rite….for the 1st time i agree with him
Hey,fellow bloggers, read the Post’s Editorial of 11 July,2008(Levy illness and succession).Teta has simply beaten vultures in MMD to their game. And Katele should be the last wizard to even contemplate ruling not even his own dog, lest he steals its only bone as well.We are aware of all the dark corner meetings going on. We the Zambians shall provide us a decent successor to Zebigge, osathi bakawalala aba.
I wonder where Teta has got the guts from but he has surely impressed alot of Zambians. I can see Enock Kavindele in the background calculating his next move. Has anyone observed that according to the MMD Constitution EPK is the elected Vice President????? The disarray in MMD is that they cannot in 90 days sort out the leadership crisis hence all this running around like a headless chicken. The only potential parties now to give us a leader in 90 days are PF and UPND and we have no option. Anyway thanks alot to Teta for telling the nation the truth about LPM’s condition.
Hey people,do not blame RB,or MULONGOTI for with holding the truth about Ba Levy’s grave condition. As long as Ba Maureen does not permit it,no one in MMD would dare tell the nation any meaningful truth. You know how powerful she is,in fact ministers dread her most than they do to Levy.
Ministers copy their official correspondence to Maureen, thats how powerful she is.Remember how she went against the norms of being a wife of President and literary campaigned for Levy in 2006.In short she put him back on the throne,so no mere mortal minister, cadre or marketeer would think of succeeding Zebigge. This is why Teta has shocked everyone, and even surprised himself.Remember when we were kids and one of us pilfered some sugar mung’anda, the rest would say,’iwe uzatimenyesa’.
# 125,quit watching such movies, thats why you are in the dream world, who told you that EPK is Presidential material?
Tetamanshimba just a scrotum. He ditched UPND using betrayal to Mazoka, just like Nevers Mumba used his appetite for power to betray Mazoka to earn the post of Vice President of Zambia, shame.
‘apalefuuka ichushi ninshi pali umulilo” do not condem teta ilifye bwino.
#129, now you are barking and your mouth is foul and stinkin’.
on the Teta mashimba ticket this time around.
Teta has just proved that he is a no nonsense man and calls a fosholo a fosholo
Kansas thanx for the correction. My bad! Sorry people…
all those condemning teta do not have the love of country at heart. teta is right our beloved country should not stand still when the president falls critically ill as is the case now. mr. teta you have the support of every one that owes allegiance to zambia and not to one individual person be it a president. keep on speaking the sensible truth teta.
This is what I pulled out the Zambian CONSTITUTION
Article 45 Vice-President
(1) There shall be an office of Vice-President of the Republic. (2) The Vice-President
shall be appointed by the President from among the members of the National
Assembly.
RB does not qualify as VP according to item 2.
zed we need rupiah to consult a medical board rather than wait for the mulongoti’s and mbula’s to start scheming a maureen presidency. Levy has done well in the past 7 years but after two strokes and being on a life support, breathing through pipes is not a solution for zed. Sharon was on life support for one year before they buried him.
Fred m’membe, The nchito brothers, Malupenga are busy having secret night meetings to push and float a person they want cos of their business interests. they want to force a person on us. Watch the post poeple. Mrs mwanawasa and Magande are their choices.
Maybe thats why the post site is down. Teta is right!!!!!!!! The longer we stay without looking at who takes over from LPM nishi ni chimbwi no plan manji
Hey Zambians, Teta knows what he is talking about. Let MMD consider his advice seriously or else you will live to remember his words of wisdom. Some people that seem to be on the side of LPM are not. You can amazed if God allowed you to see what they are thinking about in their mind. It is totally different from what they talk about in public. Be ware of vultures they are on the verge of get what they want. Careful Zed
Are you sure Teta is right??? his a bootlicker some times
Just wanted to find out. Is this site/blog for Zambians only or is it also for other nationalities. I know Zimbabweans, Tswana’s (Botswana), South Africans have been blogging . I know of other blogs for other countries they won’t allow another person from another country to blog. Kindly enlighten me concerning the purpose of this site.
what teta is doing is ok regardless of his intentions.Teta keep it up we all love mwanawasa and the good job he has offerd
Comrades who is the MMD Vice President????????
I have never liked Teta due to his off target speaking most of the time. However, on this one, he is actually right because we have to move as a nation, therefore the issue of the next president is inevitable. LPM may heal up but would not make a ressoning president any more after being in an unreasoning state for this long,…of course he would be a vegetable. Why dont the MMD call upon Chirwa to assist as the crop of present ‘cadres’ do not inspire any confidence.
F**k Sata!!!
