Don’t Listen to Politics of Division – Katele

Share

Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) National secretary Dr Katele Kalumba has called on party members not listen to politics of division.

Dr. Katele said the country at this moments needs to concentrate on praying for President Levy Mwanawana’s quickly recovery so that he can come back and lead the nation and the party.

Dr. Kaumba stated that this was not the right time to talk about the succession when the party president is bed ridden in Percy’s Military Hospital in France.

Speaking when he addressed women that gathered at the secretariat this morning to pray for Dr. Mwanawasa, Dr Kalumba said the party spokesperson Ben Tetamashimba did not consult with the National Executive Committee (NEC) over his statement.

The National secretary remarks follows utterances attributed to the party spokesperson that the party should choose a successor to levy When the president comes back from France.

Dr Kalumba has further urged urged all Zambians to continue praying for the president’s quick recovery.

Meanwhile, Government has said it was slow in stating its position on Party Spokesperson Ben Tetamashimba so as to give him a chance to reflect on his statement.

Chief Government Spokesperson Mike Mulongoti said it was regrettable that Mr. Tetamamshimba wants to be seen as championing succession when the all whole nation has united in offering prayers for the quick recovery of the President.

He reminded Tetamashimba that he was on record of having said President Mwanawasa should continue heading the Party until 2011 but wondered why he is now championing the succession issue.

Mr. Mulongoti who is also Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services was speaking at the Press briefing held at his Kabulonga residence in Lusaka today.

Mr. Mulongoti, who was flanked by his Deputy David Phiri, advised Mr. Tetamashimba not to be arrogant but instead show Leadership and humility towards the illness of the President rather causing anguish to the first family over his statement.

Mr. Mulongoti further said Tetamashimba being a NEC member and a junior minister failed to consult his colleagues in NEC before issuing the statement which he describe as embarrassing to the government.

‘it was further surprising that he wants to be seen speaking authoritatively on the Party presidency when in fact it was his opinion and doesn’t reflect the Party position,’ he added..

The MMD constitution clearly stipulate on how and when elections from the lower organs of the party are held that eventually culminate into a Party convention.

He added that as much as government respects freedom of expression, it will be wrong for anyone to say anything on the condition of the President rather than that of the medical team in France that is treating him.

The Minister said that has advised the general public to ignore MMD spokesperson Benny Tetamashimba’s statement over the succession of President Levy Mwanawasa.

And responding to questions from the Press on the statement in the foreign media attributed to Zimbabwean President Mugabe that he doesn’t like Dr. Mwanawasa, Mr. Mulongoti said he has asked the Minister of Foreign Minister to issue an appropriate statement.

Mr. Mulongoti has also assured investors not to panic over their investment in the country as there is political stability.

Mr. Tetamashimba has been roundly condemned following the statement he made for the party to start considering a successor to President Mwanawasa, when he returns home.

  1. Does Katele believe in God when he talks about prayers. The man is an agent of the devil!Even Mwanawasa doesn’t believe in God but in man made laws.God cannot be mocked,He brings down disobdient leaders.

  2. yayaya, this chap the laptop wizard knows he stands a beta chance should the state council be cancelled, because obviously levy cant choose him to his successor,he doesnt mean his words,.infact the plunderers will rejoice, let people think.invisible man,u are doomed!

  3. The MMD is finished. Katele and Mulongoti do not inspire many people of good standing in society. This is the beginning of the end of the road for this shameless party which for seven years was run without a veep and with a lot of family tree members in foreign servise. Alas !!! They are spending sleepless nights these days. Kuya bebele.. Remember how they stopped captain chewe from contesting the party veep at the convention ?

  4. Ba Katele, you are a hypocryt and a known thief. You think we have forgotten all about the 2billion kwacha eh? But most interestingly when did you start worshipping/praying? Which god would listern to you because even the devil is scared of you. In any case do you want to start talking about the succession when LPM is bed ridden at plot one? Can someone tell me how much of the progress if any on LPM can be attributed to prayers. Zambians, my beloved country men let it sink deeply that LPM is nver coming to Zambia as president.

  5. KaMulongoti, can you tell us the sensible progress. If you dont tell people the truth they will speculate you spineless cowards! VIVA TETA

  6. Katele kalumba was in hiding for a good period of time consulting the devil about his case which is still in court. Why was he hiding? The quilty are afraid. Katele confess to your God for the sins that you committed for your prayers be accepted by God.Someone is protecting Katele, but clear yourself with your God because the heavenly records are dirty. Mike the president is sick and needs rest from his demanding duties. He is being over-worked. Some of you ministers are literally doing nothing. How many times people on strikes have gone to state hse for consultation with the president when line ministries have done nothing to resolve those issues. You are misleading the president.

  7. In any case we will all die one day. Needless to say that the deaths will be different but the destination will be the same-graveyard period. Why are you chaps so scared of accepting the simple truth that LPM suffered a stroke which resulted into a coma and as far as we know still in coma and is going down the Ariel Sharon route. Perharps what we should be do now is to send an entourage to Israel to see how they handled the Sharon issue. Prayers are making me sick. can you all stop the nonsense of prayers. Ok then why dont you bring him home so that you pray over his brain maybe, just maybe it would be stimulated to remember that it should go back to duty.

  8. stupid prayers!!! they never work! never….if prayers are that strong then why even bother to evacuate LPM in the first place???
dumb dumb dumb dumb…. a country of illusions!! like praying yet HIV fullu fullu…child molestation, crime, ubuloshi, ubuhulee, poverty(ubuchushi)…ata bane… whom are these people trying to cheat??! pliz its high time we built more schools, hospitals and good roads instead of buiding churches… we can do without religion!!!

  9. Mr Tetamashimba did not do anything wrong. What he said was reality. We like it or not, we are soon going to face the challenge of choosing a new head of state. We need to give LM a break. His health is much more important than being a president right now.some people are blaming Mr Tetamashimba simply because they are afraid of losing there Jobs once somebody else is in power. Which is selfish. We will keep praying and believing God for a quick recovery, but let us also think of the future of our nation.

  10. MMD is finished whether we like it or not.No Party President nor V/President,later on leadership these succession wrangles.Oh no,the hour for MMD to go has come.I honestly dont see MMD surviving this mess.Too bad for family tree.

  11. #8 Eistein & #10 Doctor, my friends don’t say that. I had said the same about prayer and I was almost eaten alive. Some people went to an extent of turning into terrorists wanting to come and blow me up. I have kept quiet to see if my silence will bring Levy back to normal or probably to life. Which I trully doubt. They cursed even my pets’ dishes. But as far as I can see, all is well with me. Some people don’t want to hear the truth. Lie to them, they will praise you for ever. Reality never sinks in them. I am sorry guys, probably I spoke to quick about your failed prayers. These are the ppl who pray for the National Team forgetting that the team needs talent & training among other things.

  12. kalos2020…ahahahahahahahaha its just that i cant take this prayer nonsense anymore!! it irritates me to bone!!

  13. #12 Bhaps, have you stopped your terrorist threats? My dear you really crossed the line when you mentioned blowing me up. That was in simple terms terrorism. You should stop that sh**. Terrorism is creating terror/fear in others. You really did that when said you will blow me up over arguing the truth about prayer and the Mwanawasa problems. I was really offended and I was just about to forward the all statement to the FBI or other authorities to look into your threats and were they were emineting from.

  14. I was shocked when I watched the main news on ZNBC today and the first 5 minutes were about demonising Teta. Those of you who read his words quoted in the Post will surely marvel at why such shrewdness would be discouraged. Leadership development is extremly important, its costly for a political party (espercially a rulling party) to have a leadership vaccuum. Besides, like Teta contends, MMD needs to start building a candidate for 2011 if they are serious about winning the election and more important is the need to settle the succession issue (an issue which will be crucial in the next 3yrs) and concentrate on building the Zambian economy amid sky rocketing fuel and food prices!

  15. #16 oh dear me,i withdraw my statement at once.I like your humbleness.Lets watch the MMD game closely, its interesting my brother.

  16. This is the beginning of the end of MMD.They fight and accuse each other until no more.PF & Sata have finished themselves thru reconciliation and allowing a tired & toothless lion to continue leading them. This leaves HH & UPND with an upper politically.Whats your take?

  17. Am away studying for the Zed. Defying all laws of brain drain. Whatever happens, please maintain peace and learn to LOVE each other. One Zambia One Nation.

  18. #20
Teti …Katele…teti. If Chama Chakomboka couldn’t make it …can Katele …teti!
If that happens…hahahh sorry I thought you meant presdo of Sweet ZED. You’re talking about MMD. Anyway, MMD is unpredictable and playing up interestingly. Seems they want boot lickers and not straight forward suggestion off people like came from their own Teta. MMD is becoming interesting … let’s wait and see …Nkani yalula!

  19. Yes! Let them fight, they are power hungry. viva HH and UPND. But Teta is right 4this one. Katere nindoshi with a raptop with beads. By the way which museum is keeping his raptop yabulozi bwakwe.

  20. #23 If the MMD party does not come up with something concrete another party will steal the show.Every one is now calling the shots even from the so called recycled group what a circus.
This reminds me of the Titanic movie. The ship was sinking while some people carried on as normal. The captain is not there to navigate the country and people who are able to are being blocked from doing so.
    What are they waitig for?

  21. This is what Mugabe actually said:
“I must confess that I am extremely impressed by how the President of Zambia, Mr. Levy Mwanawasa, has not died from a stroke. When the chap collapsed in Egypt, we were all sure he was gone. But many days later, and despite reports to the contrary, he is still alive and kicking. I may not like the man, but that is one thing I can learn from him: how not to die,” Mr. Mugabe told diplomats from China, Micronesia and Nauru in Harare.

  22. cont…’I obviously don’t like the guy, but I like his ability to defy death. At my age, it is quite likely that I could suffer a stroke too. It is therefore important, much as I dislike the fellow, to learn from him how not to die when you are hit by a stroke at such an advanced age,” Mugabe said.
According to sources who attended Mugabe’s briefing of the remaining diplomats in Harare, the aged President of Zimbabwe said he would be the first to call Mwanawasa, once he recovered, for tips on how to survive a stroke.

“Zambia may not be such a bad country to learn something from after all,” he reportedly said.

  23. Even the devil can come as an angel(He was one after all),Just to make sure…. Be careful with those fake paryers.

  24. MALA MSANA WANZILI:
ok, i think this is the 4th time I am having to make this same post on LusakaTimes because people like you continue to post this nonsense story about Mugabe.what you are regurgitating is an article from weekly observer that appears in the HUMOR section.what you are trying to portray as reality is in fact POLITICAL SATIRE.it would the same as someone trying to pass off a Kalaki piece as reality.i’m becoming seriously annoyed with the lack of maturity, research, and simple logic demonstrated by those of you who continue to post this.if you want the link that proves this is a FAKE/HUMOR/SATIRE story let me know:otherwise, do a little research before u spread false stories

  25. # 11 U ar right Teta did nothing wrong to be condemned over his statement about MMD presidency succession coz there is nothing stupid to plan ahead instead of waiting for unexpected eventualities to happen. The truth of the matter is that all those MMD ministers condemning Teta they are just protecting their jobs.
Please as we continue praying for LPM, Lets also be thinking of plan B about our mother Zambia.LPM quick recovering.

  26. mwe bantu preeez..we have been praying and all we hear is that the Big man is stable eh telll us what tha deal is preeez!!!!

  27. ManU #31, # 11, Teta and others, lets me teach you something: in our African tradition and as the Bembas are right “ubulwele bwa mfumu, litensha chalo”. You can’t rush to replace or ukupyanika a chief while is in hospital or ku Ng’anga. And what plan B are you talking about? If that MMD club of yours has no constitution and you thought a President wamuyaya, then you are the stupid ones. Lacking humility is sign of uncivilization. Actually its possible to survive without a year or more without a crowned President. Those who are despirate like Teta are just boys who can’t spend a night without a father in the house. Grow up boys.

  28. This is what I pulled out the Zambian CONSTITUTION

    Article 45 Vice-President
    (1) There shall be an office of Vice-President of the Republic. (2) The Vice-President
shall be appointed by the President from among the members of the National
    Assembly.

RB does not qualify as VP according to item 2.

  29. Katele,we trully tired of you two face apologies. Why can´t you tell the nation the truth?Tym will when people will say now is the hour.Chezera…thnax a bunch..it´s high tym the VP should get into that office through his or her popularity to the voters.Don´t abuse the calmness of Zedian people…it´s just because we got love for Mother Zambia.

  30. # 34 Wibilima u ar missing apoint about teta’s remarks.we are aware that its not approperiate to talk about somebody who’s ill in our African culture, but this time around lets call for realities. so Tetamashimba’s statement should be looked at in a different way as we are confronted with this untimely sickness of our President. Even as we wish our President well and fast recovery, we need to prepare for the worst, in an event that the President may not be able to perform his duties well when he comes back.So what is wrong when Teta talks about the future? Think big young man, plan for the future, thats why your so called ministers fail to perform coz they dont think of new plans.

  31. Ninshi Ba Katele imilandu yakamana nomba ni clean slate? Ini nadabwa? can someone plse shed more light on this politician. Is he still in Chiyengi Virtual world?

  32. please zambians, since our president seemed not come and continue his normal duties,it’s good we give chance to ba sata since they’ve already reconcilled with ba levy mwanawasa.

  33. Zambians, be careful with people like Katele and let him not fool us around. He is a snake in the grass. Does he think that we are not aware of all those dark corner meetings he is having with his clonies the Kafupi’s and the rest ? Bravo to Ben, infact expose the scam without delay. What are you waiting for ?

  34. BA KATELE BULOSHI BWENU LEKENI THIS TALK ABOUT PRAYER FOR LPM. WOMEN ALSO WHY DO LIKE DECEPTION ALWAYS.LET THE MAN TALK TO HIS FELLOW MEN AND SEE IF HE CAN REASON WITH THEM.KATELE KA THUNDER YOU ARE NOT THE RIGHT MAN TO CONDUCT PRAYERS FOR LPM UNLESS YOU HAVE REPENTED OF YOUR EVIL DEEDS–LAP TOP COMPUTER AND THE LIKES.ZED IS NOT A BEE-HIVE WHERE THE WHOLE BEE-DOM JUST PASS THROUGH ONE SMALL HOLE AND BUNCH THEMSELVES TO THE QUEEN.WHEN SHE MOVES THEY ALL MOVE.TETA TELL US MORE MAN!!!!!!

  35. #40,we dont want another by election in state if we vote 4 Sata. The man is sick aswel and his old age has made childish.Sata’s politics has no room in the 21st century politics.Hav u 4gotten the chamawa saga?I meet Sata almost evry wk and i knw what am talking about!

  36. #40,please spare us frm this SATA nonsense! Sata is not presidential material.I think u leave abroad heh?Ask pipo bck home in the streets they will tell what #46 has said bt these r the same who supported him in the last elections. What does tht mean to u?

  37. #30 Kansas. I believe that article is not POLITICAL SITIRE. In satires, they do not use actual names. People just deduce from the story. Remember, this borders on diplomatic relations. I believe Mugabe is smiling at the article. Remember actual names were used, even CHINA as a country. Am not sure of the other countries mentioned. If it is not true, can the ZIM govt say so or apologise. In my own belief, this mad ***** Mugabe insulted our integrity as Zambians. I hate the man. How can he say when the CHAP collapsed in Egypt? This whole story needs to be investigated by our own professional system.

  38. Teta has the right declare his OPINION.But this is not the right time to talk about the stuff in the MMD.We have other parties in Zed, let us start scouting for who will be the next presdo for Zed in 2011.The issue in the MMD is making me sick, we should change the subject matter to development issues in Zed.

  39. Give a chance to # 40 to convince fellow bloggers y zambians should vote for Sata.Bring out merits of sata Vs his demerits.Bloggers are intellectuals (i think so),so u dont them 2 fall for plain though. This is a market place so convice your woukd be buyers.

  40. Give a chance to # 40 to convince fellow bloggers y zambians should vote for Sata.Bring out merits of sata Vs his demerits.Bloggers are intellectuals (i think so),so u dont them 2 fall for your plain thought. This is a market place so convince your would be buyers.

  41. Katele, just shut up, and keep on squeezing your nuts hoping LPM packs up, because that’s exactly what you want, you twerp.

  42. This is just detracting from the real issue. Teta has done nothing wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Thieves like Katele and intellectual lightweights like Mulongoti are hijacking leadership. RB needs to tell both of them to shut up. Otherwise all this is showing that MMD are divided and does not auger well for the country. Katele is thieve. He has no morrow authority.

  43. Personally, I do not like the following statemnt:
“When the chap collapsed in Egypt, we were all sure he was gone…Mugabe said.”
whether it was a political satire or not.

As if that is not enough, someone has to explain this sort of INSULT to our Zambian Republican President Mr LP Mwanawasa (SC, Hon. Doctor) in particular and Nation in general.

  44. As far as I know its the brains through the hands that make a difference and not prayers. Let any one so confident in prayers ask LPM’s doctors to stop the medication, disconect the stabilzing machines and offer prayers instead.Non can do that. So please lets stop the prayers and concentrate on what might work if it can. Truth though is as we all know it is that LPM is gone we can only think of incoperating his name on the calender to comemorate him if we love him that much. What we need more than prayers is the way forward for the nation. the way forward for LPM will be charted by his family. Zambia needs a leader in charge not a helpless one in NEURO ICU

  45. VIVA Teta!!!don’t listen to a witch coz he’s got all of you in his computer and Mulongoti is defending his job.LPM is not gonna continue.Katele is aspiring …

  46. Let us, Zambians and other well-wishers, continue praying for the President LP Mwanawasa and his family.

In the meantime, shall we see to it that we continue praying for our NATION as a people sp that we remain sober and become objective in this trying time.

May we focus our attention in doing research on how to proceed from where we are; in relation to similar occurences that happened elsewhere to ours now. “One Zambia, one Nation”

  47. #54 I agree now the updates will be on teta who is not in ICU instead of on LPM. What nonsense is that. Where is the democracy? timing, it can never be perfect than this. teta’s statements and indeed his opinions wont influence the direction LPM’S fate take. At family level I really sympathize with LPM and family coz the man has been through a lot.

  48. #56, the good LORD God answers prayers, only that His Will is always done. We can never force Him to do what we like. But through His promises, we can have full assurance that he will provide us with the best out of a situation. Our part is to continue trusting that God is working on our pray request(s).
    KJV Bible
Mat 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,….

  49. ba katele since when? we know your motives, you are a well known thief and you know it deep down your heart, just wait for lpm to return and im sure he has something for you and your coleques eyeing the succesesion.

  50. Katela you ain´t stable, let them stable people with truth like the Teta´s of Zed tell us what is eally happening.Had always something goig on my mind that there is something that you trying to hide.
Get away with the stable updates cos only the national under 20 team might be stable out there.

  51. save money by leaving Sata alone,no need for by elections every and now then. There are young people that can even do better that´n what LPM has done.It is only in MMD that there isn´t someone to take over but the country at large,we got them all resources. Donno who but hey……………..lets move on.

  52. Teta is right. For how long are we going to wait and pray for Mwanawasa. We all know from simple Religious Education that God answers in 3 ways; Yes, No or wait. From the look of things it is not YES because Mwanawasa is still “STABLE” it is not NO because he is not yet DEAD. So the only option which remains is, WAIT, but for how long? Yes we can wait for God’s answer but should we watch our economy go down on the basis of waiting for Mwanawasa to recover? Nonsense!!

  53. A excerpt in today’s post newspaper: mulongoti said ‘What do you expect the presient to do when he has been in the hospital for just a short time?…anybody who suffers a stroke must be given enough time to recover from it. Because it is not in a condition where someone can start walking, start eating, or start talking within a short time.’

Do you think from this statement my dear bloggers the truth is slowly linking to sober minded people. The more in-fighting in MMD the better for the truth, they are alive to the fact that if not well handled, Teta is going to let the truth unveiled. Teta is like petrol, you need VJ to handle him with his diplomancy strategy but they trashed him.

  54. pliz educate me over what is happening in MMD.Why did they abolish the post of vice president of the party? in this case, who is heading the party?

  55. We should reseach more on Teta and his career, I for one like his gut! These are the kind of people we need. If Katele became President (God forbid) I would leave Zambia and change my nationality…

  56. This fool katele can today come and talk about politics of what?? This same fool is the same person who in 2000 was busy singing praises of third term with Chiluba and later was seen with Mwanawasa in 2005 while campaigning in Matero stooping so low and asking for forgiveness from Mwanawasa so that mwanawasa coudl life his foot off the peddle on cases against him. This fool is the same fool who ruled by division in MMD just to ensure that Chiluba went through in the party (MMD) convention of 2000. In case Mulongoti cannot see beyond this shallow sympathy, this fool is hoodwinking everybody so that when LPM cannot rule anymore this snale can come back and bite the party, even create…

  57. contd 69…
conditions which will usher his fellow fools back into power and guess what he will be off the hook and it will be business as usual for brother Katele Kalumba. So Teta, you might have chosen the wrong time but what I think, though Teta also you have not been straightforward about this succession which you were against not long ago! Maybe it is time you cowards in MMD called a spade a spade and if I were Mulongoti and them, they could be careful who they share a bed with. Watch out for these thieves who have not party interests at heart but themselves.

  58. contd… 70 I cannot believe I am living in this country where the so called cadres who not long ago were busy insulting Katele and today he is a darling they can even go to Kwacha house to be addressed by this green mamba (serpent), our mothers have really become cheap.

  59. #47 iwe ka chanda(tonga chanda)!!u’re not even educated. I’m gonna trace yo ip address.I’m an IT specialist mind you.
    stop insulting ba sata.
Only sata can develop Zambia!!he loves zambia!he’ll build hospitals, universities and schools!!
sata had never falled zambia in any field when was in govt.
the man was born a leader.
Even in america they vote presidents according to their past records.Sata records still stand.
look when he was a minister of health.he did the most stuff.
don’t just talk nonsense! watch CNN(situation room) and find out something.

  60. #72 you need to convince some of us more, in Sata I do not believe in. Please tell me more, I have read his manifesto and it is no different from UPND, MMD and other parties, so what is new?

  61. Katele ni ndoshi, nalowa abena Mulongoti, nabapela akafifi such that they cant see his court cases and zedian women sometimes balankalifya, maybe thats why rape taipwila pantu ubufontini fulu muma nika yafita pakati.

  62. Yes badala ba Mwiinga, everything is stable as in football.
    Mauritius 0 Zambia 2.

  63. #34 no one is talking abouy LPM, we are talking about succession and the office of the Presidency and do not trvilaise the Office of the President and compare it to a Cheifdom. Secondly, chachine ichalo chatenkana and that is why everybody is talking about this lyashi. LPM just happens to be the one occupying the Office of the President. Was that President Nixon who was implicated in the Waterfate Scandal? One of his most stressful moments was when he was being flown to his home all of a sudden the Air Force one became Flight 52 and the jets that were escorting the plane turned away because a new President had been sworn in. So that comes with the teritory, if you are street vendor and you..

  64. I wonder when Zambian policitians will stop their archaic politiking.Though Teta expressed his personal opinion as a member of MMD,the bunch of gold diggers want him to be demonised and have him kicked out of the party, what a shame.
Teta was right in his thinking but he expressed his opinion at the wrong time,he should have not done it in the press in the first place,am sure there are many members in MMD who agree with him anyway.
Whatever happens,i can see the end of MMD unless they rig elections in 2011.Levy will probably quit even if he gets well,Dr Chirwa should form a party or team up with HH,only these two can steer the country forward after Levy(in my opinion).

  65. … contd 78, you cannot blame anyone after being hit by a car that carriers off the road due to a tyre burst. So he is the President and as far as I know he should be ready for these kinds of things.

  66. “He was speaking when the women gathered to PRAY for Mr Mwanawasa and express their ANGER” – Post Newspaper 13th July – now I am yet to find a church where they pray and express anger at the same time, maybe MMD church.

  67. #84 Mwiinga, you ripped my ribs, coz indeed prayer and expressing anger are two parallels that can never meet. You are observant.

  68. Anyway what do you expect with Pastor Katele conducting the mass, it is only devil worshipping where PRAYER & ANGER go hand in hand

  69. If you read Teta’s statement, you find that the man expressed outright sympathy and love for the President. Added to which he was not talking about succeeding the President tommorow, but in 2011. So his timing is right…

Sata is a mature cadre and nothing close to a President. The way he runs his party can give you a glimpse of how he will run the country- PF has never held party elections since inception. Sata says things to suit the political climate, himself and to woo dull Zambians. Is this the man you want for President?

I like HH and Chirwa, but they dont how to sell. Why, I consider myself fairly informed yet I have no idea what the two believe in or what they have to offer! Write a book for Gods sake!

  70. Mingeli Palata,i respect you highly for understanding things and people like i do,what you have said about Sata is exactly what i say to people,Sata can only decive illiterates!!
HH has some great ideas and so does Chirwa but they don’t elaborate more on how they can achieve their goals like Anderson Mazoka did but at the moment, they are the only ons i feel have what it takes to advance the development started by Levy,i also hope in the new govt we won’t have any recycled bootlickers,am tired of them.

  71. And that has always been my contention, thes
e guys Chirwa and HH should state categorically how they intend to turn the country around. Sata is not a factor to me unless by 2011 God willing, we will still have less than educated zambians

  72. Professor Chirwa talks only about cars and have heard nothing about how he would transform the country. HH only talks about what everybody knows should hapen and not explaining how he’ll do it and he really needs to work extremely hard to get rid of the tribalist tag that got really attached to UPND, especially after Mazoka died and the likes Sakwiba, Bob Sichinga, Patrick Chisanga etc left the party.

  73. What I see with this sitation on our hands is that it can possibly go on and on as long as somebody sowhere is holding on to power one more day. My fellows, these politicians’ bickering and pointing fingers at each other is their game and a way of holding on to power while they hold us at ransom. Our constitution demands that cabinet starts the process of investigating the issue of the Presidents encapacitation which a well meaning cabinet should have started by now. It is clear that these pipo will not do that for obvious reasons of ‘job security’ and so are ready to crucify those among them who seem to push for sanity (Tenta’s case in point). As such the power lies with us the electorate..

i think the Doctor is very wrong in all ,to come out like that saying prayers are stupid watch over your tonge bro, ur arrogant against GOD will not help you, just debate the issue without trying to Question GOD i feel sorry for , history is on the wall people have tried to behave like you in the past and have ended very badly so don’t push GOD too far ,its not about religion but its about GOD , the real life the King and a Judge, of all people including yourself
    GOD forgive u bro

  75. …we must make them move in the direction we want them to. We did it in 1991 we demand change we got and we crashed third term in 95/96. We can do it again otherwise these so called leaders will keep oing round in circles. We love LPM more than they do coz their interest is to keep him in power for their own benefit not for his. Wake up Zedians

  76. KWENA YAKOSA. GENTLEMEN DON’T WORRY SO MUCH PAFWA ABANTU PASHALA BANTU. NAIFWE EPOTULI. YOU CAN TRY US IFINTU KWESHA BESHA

  77. Don´t listen to Katele….PERIOD.The guy is in and out of court cos of stealing. What can such a person tell the whole nation?

  78. #49 & #55 – ok, this is beginning to be off topic (which is part of why i was annoyed with your posting in the first place – everything is NOT about mugabe)…. but for clarification, political satire comes in many forms and often uses really names/places – Kalaki’s particular form of satire employs the use of twisting names around as part of the joke, but not all satirists do that. as far as you arguing there should be an “investigation” that is a crazy waste of resources – investigate what? the comics? cartoons? seriously? and there is no need for ZIM govt to apologize for something written in UGANDA by a UGANDAN political humorist.

  79. #97, The third term bid was destroyed in the year 2000/2001.
On another note, can someone who knows where to find a credible Zambia Republican Constitution put up a link to it on here, please.
The ones I have found so far consists of varying information on the Presidency of Zambia.
Hint: It appears the Vice President carries on with the REMAINING TERM of the incumbent President if something to a level of physical or health incapacitation happens to the sitting President.

  80. #10 – that’s right! prayers prayers prayers that’s the best some people can come up with…but prayers never fed anyone, or educated anyone, or put a politician in power. god has better things to do.

  81. #100, sorry about irritating you, but we need an explanaion from someone about it.
An insult is as INSULT whether it is in terms of political satire or not. Note that real names of persons and countries were mentioned in your so-called satire. I have seen much stuff about it on a lot of websites instead of this LT alone.
On you irritation, please ignore the postings on it (Mugabe issue) if you feel you have done enough contribution about it so far. “Too much of one thing is very dangerous” – unknown.

  82. Dear Lord,
Today we pray for our leaders as you have commanded us to do.
We also ask for forgiveness for our sins as WE FORGIVE those who sin against us i.e
people like Mugabe for his perpetual madness,
Kafupi for our countries economic problems,
    Katele for deceiving us
And other people who have wronged us willingly. For if we hold anything against people who wrong us You will not hear our prayers.
AND ALL THE BLOGGERS SAY AMEN

  83. Akube boobo (Amen), to #105. However, the Holy Sriptures advice us to pray is secret (see Jesus Christ’s instruction in the Gospels).

  84. I personally did not like Mugabes sick comment.Mugabe, it seems, is enjoying his honeymoon after China and Russia vetoed the much awaited arms sale sanction ban to Zimbabwe.Gordon was promised at the G8 summit by Russia to back him but it seemed Russia opted out.So the guy will still be amassing weapons from China.

  85. #104,go to the source if you need an explanation,UGANDAN news paper who wrote that political comic, dont allow yourself to be fed on cheap political propaganda, you are intelligent enough to gather that info for yourself before you spread it around but also see if it is true before you spread it,if MUGABE had said it,am challenging you why major news networks have not reported it – because it was a fake news story. i’m sure you can find it on other blog sites, etc because there are several of your type of bloggers out there who just react & spread false info/inflammatory comments without any actual facts as backup or verification.

  86. if you think this “news” is true how about you check out other articles written by the same columnist (IN THE HUMOR SECTION) — the week before his article was called “Mugabe writes Mugabe” detailing an email Mugabe sent to himself congratulating himself…. so you tell me if you still doubt that these articles are attempts at humor — and the satire is successful in that it is close enough to possible to dupe people like you who don’t care about the source or integrity of the news they spread.

  87. #112, while I do understand your opinion on LT bloggers like me , I would like you to desist from thinking that many of us know nothing.
What I and other bloggers are concerned about is the level of demeaning the Zambian Presidency in your so-called satire. Please, convince us on the need to have used the actual names of people and contries alike by the authour just to make people laugh or become deceived.
That satire authour of yours has to apologise for INSULTING our President and Nation, whether Mugabe liked it or not. Just try to see our objectiveness and not gullibleness, please.

  88. I am most impressed by the spirituality exhibited by Zambians durring the Presidents illness. Their gesture and sympathy is inspiring. This sort of love we have seen is encouraged, its the kind of love that can heal a wounded nation; the Nelson Mandela kind of love.

To fellow bloggers that deem the prayers useless. God is greater than all and is a God of possibilities… Miracles. To dispise him is most unforgivable. He is the reason why you are alive. The fact that you are alive and others are dead doesnt make you any better or special. Life has no gurrantees because its borrowed. You praise and thank God that you are alive. My dear friend, use the remender of your life to ask for forgiveness of your blasphemy, apostacy and satanism…

#10, you could start by praying for the Presidents quick recovery!

  89. Country Men and Women

The God of Abraham, Jacob ,Isaac and all the people..the creater of heaven, earth and earth bellow is a God of possibilities..with him and by him all things are possible.

Thus said we however need not ignore the fact that the same God cannot be mocked or even commanded as seen in most of these wide spread prayers for our president.

God decides when to give life and when to take it and the bible says he hears the prayers of a rightous man so its not about the quantum but rather about the quality of prayers that counts.

The bible says that my people perish because of lack of knowledge..Teta I salut your wise statement..we behind you!!!

  90. Mwiinga my mornin is stable hope urs is as wel. u’ve made me lafu prayer n anger togetherness? hell no! big up 2 teta he knws wat hes tokin abt. guys we r adults let watch this space. katele kip zz ur linen has been long washed in publik. bloggers tel me the chapter where GOD heal’d the sick. he neva all he said was ur faith has heal’d u. lpm nids 2 hav faith . we can pray 4 the whole mnth n wthout his faith then no healing. wat a party wthout a veep. if nawakwis litle knwn party can hav a vice wat abt the ruling party. gud nite n morning

  91. Sunday Post headline.
Get down to work, Chirwa urges Govt. Stop mourning over Levy’s illness.
I say AMEN to that, its about time, work must go on. We can still pray for him, God hears even silent prayers in your offices. Move over Katele with your Laptop. I say Chirwa for next Presido.

  92. KANSAS, don’t take comments on his LT too personal. Why you keep on responding, attacking and preaching to people as if you are something or live in heaven? That Kansas city is not better than purgatory, and you can’t waste our time to inform us about that piece of Ugandan rebel writers. Remember arguing with fools, people may not notice the difference.

  93. Wibilima: I don’t take anything on LT personally. And I don’t attack people or preach, especially when it comes to other people’s opinions – what is disappointing to me is the level of misinformation regarding that particular article. i was under the impression that a forum like LT is about being as informed as we can be. And for the record I’ve never expressed any opinion on kansas or kansas city as better or worse than any other place. In fact I’ve never posted about kansas. Anyway, at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. those who want to know what is real news and what is not can find out the sources on their own next time – though from the responses it seems like you all would

  94. not know what’s behind the “news” presented on this forum. so, heaven or no heaven, i can let this one rest as it seems people will believe what they want regardless of the facts. as for other topics, i don’t make a habit of attacking or challenging other people’s opinions, but when it comes to facts i do what i can to make sure we all have as much information as is out there – thought that was some of the point of a blog, but again i could be mistaken

  95. THIS IS A GENERAL PUBLIC CHALLENGE,IS IT REALLY WRONG FOR US THE ZAMBIAN CITIZENS TO EXERT PRESSURE ON THE CABINET TO TELL THIS NATION THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT OUR PRESIDENT?HOW LONG ARE GOING TO ‘WAIT IN LIMBO?’YES,PRAYERS CAN CONTINUE BUT THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL,WE HAVE TO FORGE AHEAD AS A COUNTRY. REALLY,AM I MEANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT ZAMBIA WILL STALL AS LONG AS LPM REMAINS IN HOSPITAL? DOES ZAMBIA REVOLVE AROUND THE MULONGOTIs,AND RBs,THAT WE SHOULD AS A NTION BE HELD AT RANSOM?THIS IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

  96. #100 is very much rite as this is proper sattire except real names and real situations have been used which to the zedian seems off the mark. we are too pious or religous sometimes and at the end of the day we become hypocrites. lets know for once that LPM spending more than a week in ICU followed by operation after operation, lack of clear true statements from the gvt organs clearly states that he is not coming to rule but to bid farewell and so we better look up and forge ahead with some one else. after all the mwanawasas family does not possess the presidency.

  97. Vanity of African politics, our leaders have no clear succession plans and we find ourselves in the mess we’re in today. Parties are built around personalities & not principles, hence when the leader dies or is incapicitated, all hell breaks loose! e.g UPND(Mazoka), PF(Sata) etc. Now, it’s happened to MMD, which to date has no party vice-president (due to internal wrangling) and whose national secretary (CEO) is a questionable character facing numerous counts of abuse of office!

  98. The moment we realise that zed has plenty of leaders and each can be replaced, we will move a giant step ahead. the presidency be it party or republican is not a monarch where if the king is absent we have to wait as the next king has to be appointed from the same family tree.
this is no so in zed as the presidency is vested in the powers of the constitutions party or national.
by and large, we shud be busy making money by doing vatious businesses instead of wasting a lot of time in prayer as though we dont believe the first prayer we offered has not been answered. God will answer the prayers by either bringing LPM out of danger or by telling us to forge ahead as he is a God on the move

  99. Remember Moses was told by God to do something in order for God to respond, he told moses to use the stick in his hand to help part the water of red sea.
So is our situation. we need to move on LPM or no LPM. Lets not wait for the presidents family to hold us at ransom, coz am begining to think some one among the relatives is indirectly controlling what ever is happening in paris

  100. i dont hear katele going to court to hear his case. how special is he that i only hear chibanda, faustine kabwe FTJ etc?
i think alibatinya ba judge ati nkamilowa pantu nindosi sana nyela kalumba. and he shud never be elected to lead mmd or get any govt position coz he is a plunder and the sooner this case is concluded the better otherwise we shud brace for the prosecution of mutembo nchito as he has indirectly plundered the countries resources by amassing billions to even buy indeke pa zed ehhhh.

  101. Without a Party President or a vice for that matter MMD National secretary, Dr Katele Kalumba, is currently the most powerful person in the MMD and as such in the country. The pot is now boiling over and all the dark corner meetings should start bearing all sorts of fruits. He may not (or he may) be next president but he will definitely have a fundamental influence on whom the MMD select.

So he is pretty special at the moment

  102. ……………………………………………………….am maules at all this circus now going on. E………………..
    surely………………………………………………….

  103. Katele and Mulongoti only want to be the principal voices of the MMD so that they can position themselves for the post of presidency. We all know Teta is right. There is nothing in discussing the MMD future now or after LPM comes back. The MMD is greater than any one individual,if it has to live beyoud LPM it must look beyoud LPM,otherwise it will face the same future as UNIP and UPND.

  104. Pronouncetion of Prayers is one thing and praying is another! It seem many are just proncoucing prayers but few are actual prayers. Jesus called those Pronouncers as hypocrite and urged genuine Christians to pray in secrecy not on roof tops. Katele is a wizard and wizards’ master is devil and you cannot serve two masters. No wonder the presod is not getting better – becoz wizards are praying for the presod to get worst. Which way are pipo directing their prayers, which they being pronounced on roof tops?

  105. Katele should be made to stand on the platform and take over from Mwanawasa, i think he will lead us well, Chirwa should be made Minister Without Portfolio, what do u thinkk Tetamashimba?

  106. Levy will never be the same again so better we start working on plan B, family tree are all panicking coz they know without the big guy, they are in some serious hot soup bambo

  107. Teta the guys in MMD wont spare you this time round, its time you drove back to Solwezi and consult the Kaondes on your way forward, or else that may be the end of ypur political career, and that Kaonde Foreign Minister, if he is not Kaonde, apologies, anyway he hells from the same direction with Teta, take a low profile, LPM, is not around to protect you,you will disappear with Teta and i dont see you going back to BOZ as you dont have a PhD, I rest my case.

  108. Katele is plotting as we blog, watch this space as the drama unfolds, FJT is breathing sigh of relief for perhaps his days are not numbered afterall

  109. Levy’s 2nd stroke is a serious infirmity that should’nt be taken lightly, RB & Maureen are jus trying to buy time, I doubt if Levy will make it back in one piece

  110. O’ God of heaven we give u praise and honour due to your name
In as much as we ll never understand your ways that are higher than our ways, we would like to thank u that you are Great and Almighty.

God why is it that when we complain our politicians dont seem to be on our side as tax payers (Zambians resources should be 4 Zambia not outsiders) and yet when their jobs are thretened they want us to pray with them O’ God????

O’God if its to the glory of the power people of Zambia, let it be in Jesus’ name i pray
My yo name be HONOURED O’ GOD

    AMEN

  111. #144, its pretty obvious why we’ll all be $hit%ing in our pants if we give the luapula boys a chance to regroup!

  112. MMD had been infiltred by new comers just after LPM took over the party presidency. There emerged the “New Dealers” and the pro Chiluba factions. These factions underwent a self claensing process with king pins hiding their ambitions. Now the opportunists will emerge, and the crime Teta has commited is that he has been too fast thinking aloud. Its amazing Jonas Shakafuswa has not thrown his weight around as “family tree” member.

  113. Family tree – Shakafuswa (a.k.a the Slaughterer); Shikapwasha; Mbula; Mpombo; Sisala; your jobs are on the line! better consider peasant farming? or bravely face unemployment like the rest of us mere mortals.

  114. perhaps Katele can use his traditonal ‘laptop’ to lead Zambia to become the most powerful economy in Africa! hahaha Zed comedy never ceases to amaze me!

  115. Look out as events unfold, last episode was

Dr Katele reinvents a Zambian Laptop…..
Katele as Former Finance Minister comes out clean in Zamtroop sag…….
    Findlay goes to court…….
MMD is does not belong to the family tree……..
Kavindele to recontest as MMD Vice President……
Nevers Mumber appointed Republican VP but is not MMD…….
    Shakafuswa at it again……..
    Levy dismisses Chitala……
    Levy reconcils with Sata…..
    Levy stable says VP……

    ****************************************************************
    NEXT EPISODE
    Zambia…….
    God Knows…..

  116. #145 you are right very few people survive a second stroke.
It is time the MMD and Zed honoured Levy by letting him rest with his family. He has done a lot for the nation, but let him not put national duties first before his health. His children are still young the need a health father. The MMD and Zed should let him rest comfortably after he comes back. Mazoka went this route and we saw what happen. Fima politicis fye ife, ubume first.
The people who know LPM condition must say it as it is. People at LPMs bedside should give accurate info.

  117. Mr Pwando, you’re correct but the example of Mazoka is wrong bwana, the man succumbed to HIV/Aids, I understand the Tonga bull was lethal when it came to throwing the ‘snake’

  118. If levy is incapacitated and we hold elections in 90 days That will be end of MMD. RB may decide to for the top Job after all he is VP. But….he is UNIP. What will kill MMD is NOT PF but the wrangles on who becomes presidential candidate. Most will quite and join PF. Katele is National secretary, he has the instruments of power at his disposal to rig the nomination. Chirwa just decided to have a peace of whats going on. From his statement you can see that he is employing the western type of thinking. ie. Dont mourn forever, move on. Very soon he will be calling on the carbinet to declare LPM incapacitated…..

  119. Time has come to move on as one people as KK expressed it in his Humanism slogan of “One Zambia One Nation”. To be able to move as one people, we need a leader /leadership that is going to inspire many people to change their lives for the better, we need a leadership that will endeavor to hold Zambia’s 78 tribes in peace and harmony. Zambia needs a leadership that is visionary and understands modern economic trends.
Sometimes I feel so ashamed as a citizen when I travel abroad to belong to country that is rich in many natural resources and yet we the majority indigenous people are very poor. We need a leadership that will solve this paradox of so many poor people in a nation that is pregn

  120. #160,PF has also a lot of home work do on its top leadership if they are to be relevant to Zambia’s politics. Otherwise, Sata is a big liability to PF existence. Sata has of late been struggling to maintain full control of PF but he is finding it difficult. Most PF membership no longer trusts this man. Up to now he has not told his NEC what his reconciliation with LPM is all about, all he says is that a secret between me and

  121. CONTI,

PLM and no one will ever know what we discussed with LPM not even my V/President Guy Scott will ever know. Any way, what’s PF without Sata?

  122. Zambians are very funny people. We don’t seem to know what we want, LPM was right where he said that Zambians are forgetful and have a very short memory!! Lets prove these leaders that we can’t not be taken for granted all the time by the doing the right thing when the right times come. We are to blame to a large extent for allowing Jackals in politics. Let’s wake up Zambians. I can see some people praising useless jackals for Presidency. This is ridiculous!! From the current presidential aspirants, we only have two names people can seriously debate about. These are HH and Sata and out of these two, HH stands out the best as Sata falls out automatically on merit, health and old age wise.

  123. If you want another by election, vote for Sata. The man is sick, his trousers are falling. I think he is H…V. I see him frequently. His complection has become darker.

  124. bhaps u were right!! people have started attacking me coz i told the inconvinient truth that prayer doesnt work… they are now calling me a demon!! ahahahahaha!!
    #96, #115, #116! get ur facts right!
the people who brought u the religion u r bragging about are the ones that sold our forefathers as slaves…tell me a bible verse or koran verse that talks against slavery!! therez is none.. why???
more than a billion chinese people dont believe yet their livelihoods are getting better than africans with each day that comes…. they are now all over exploiting africans!!
scandinavian countries have made it without religion! why??
dont be blind followers of anything that a white man throws

  125. ur way… to bring us religion, them whiteys had a motive!! which is cristal clear right now!! our minds are locked up because of religion…

u can call me a demon a thousand times

    prayinggggggggggg for stroke!!!!???
mwanawasa suffered a stroke not because of some evil spirit but because he is fat!!!

    fat-hypertension-cerebralvascular disease ( raptured blood vessel in mwanawasa’s case)-stroke

so what miracle do u expect???
we only need to have hope that he is being treated by the best doctors….. prayers dont work!!!

  126. TETA is the only man, the rest are corward. Viva TeTa, push for what is right and you do not need to reflect on anything.

  127. Bakatele mwenzo tidabwisa! Kubilima mudala. Ati bwanji va ka Laptop? just open up a manufacturing company so that you start manufaturing your Laptop.

  128. awe ba doctor tami kanila. iyayi, iyi nkani yo tukwana ma prayers siyamene….even if u dont believe its not right to start mocking people, religion and God. muti uze mushe manje kaili musebenza bwanji imwe? simuma nyamuka mu usiku imwe te?
