Electoral Commission of Zambia chairperson Irene Mambilima threatened to resign on Thursday prior to the announcement of the election results.
ECZ sources have told QFM that some former ruling MMD officials were pressurizing the ECZ chairperson not to announce the election results.
Some MMD officials are said to have pressurized Justice Mambilima not to announce the election results when it became clear that the former ruling party was losing the elections.
The MMD camp was broken following the defeat in the presidential election which has left the former party in pieces, with its future bleak.
Some sources within the MMD suggest that a number of party officials are planning to defect to the ruling PF.

Only job seekers should defect. What will be the besis of defecting soon after elections, what if the party won, could they have defected. What reason will they give for defecting that they never noticed before the election. Would they defect and say that we want to be in a ruling party to continue benefiting from government because their party has lost election. This is called not being principled at all. It is an embarrasment to Zambian politics if our politicians just change partys for the sake of personal gains.

We give credit to this women of substance, One of my relatives was a counter and confirmed that the situation was very hectic. To be honest, from the last elections when Justice Mambilima was chairperson at ECZ, I hated her badly. But now I ask for her forgiveness.
Announcing the election results was a brave move and a show demoractic values by this judge made of steel balls…i hope other law reinforcers will learn from this woman… and those MMD officials should be dealt with by the law so that we don’t have a repeat of this in future..
Judge Ireen Mambilima is STRONG as a civil servant should be. She threatened to resign – how many members of the cabinet would have done that?

The late announcing of the winner by ECZ was one way of wanting to rig the elections by RB and his cronies but the big man KK and the US Ambassador had to intervene for RB to concead defeat. Even the inauguration was already planned for RB on that same Friday because he was so sure he was going to rig elections but this year it was impossible because of the PVT. People managed to get the results direct from the polling stations so there was no way the robbers could have rigged
If that is true, I find it very difficult to accept the speech by RB. African leaders (including sata) should learn to respect the will of the people. Another one to fall in the trap is the Malawan President. it is also rumored they are good friends with RB.

It is true there was an attempt to force Judge Mambilima and Intelligence Chief Regis Phiri to accept rigging of the Northern and Luapula vote by MMD. When this failed, this is when Ala B tried to order army generals to take over the country so that the constitution could be suspended and the MMD crooks could not be investigated. But the commanders stood their ground and told Ala B they did not want to see bloodshed in Zambia. That is how Ala B was forced to accept it was game over.
