The opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) has called on opposition parliamentarians to be alert and provide necessary checks and balances to the ruling patriotic front government.

MMD Deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu sid that it would be wrong for opposition parliamentarians to relax amid so many blunders by the Patriotic Front.

Recently, MMD Solwezi central Member of Parliament Lucky Mulusa said the relaxed attitude by Felix Mutati as leader of the opposition in parliament is suppressing progressive debates meant to assist the government.

Mr. Nyangu said that the party will first have to study the matter for it to be handled appropriately.

He however told QFM that if the reports are true, it would be incorrect for Mr. Mutati, as leader of the opposition, to be relaxed because the opposition has a huge task to play in parliament.

  1. MMD leadership has lost direction. It is now the top leadership against itself. Dora vs Mutati, Katele vs Mabenga, Dora vs Mabenga etc. The MMD is fast cruising to self destruction, and the wheels are so fast that no one can stop them.

  2. umwine Mutati wants progressive debates but some chaps want him to be raising unecessary points of order, at the expense of time and tax payers money? just becos he is the opp chief whip he doesnt need to be halting debates anyhow, no wonder we just hear noise coming from the august or is it a September house

  3. I thought Dora’s pre and post election mishaps made great lessons for her. Humility Dora will be needed now than ever. Learn from your mistakes. Otherwise you have been the Achilles Heel of MMD

  4. mmd headed 4 destruction,super egos,whose mabenga,nothng politicaly na winter abako bwino,dora mafiga jst yapping,katele oh no!mutati,musokotwane technocrats,muteteka overzealous,self ordained pastor mumba,overating himself,kabing pande boz pro.we are tired of u morons.

  5. Frankly, Mr. Mutati does not know the role of the Leader of the Opposition. If he did, many of the blunders made by the PF would have been properly scrutinised by Parliament before they were passed. I would suggest he spends a few days with Botsalo Ntuane, Leader of the Opposition in Botswana so that he can learn the job of the Leader.

  6. Whoever still harbours hope on our parliament is a dreamer… our parliament has never been a place where the country can depend on for real progress. The little integrity this parley once had died a long time ago with Humphrey Mulemba, Nkumbula, Dean Mung’omba and the living one-time giants like Aka, Patrick Chisanga, Saki (before he lost it),Charles Milupi (before he lost) and my man Chrispin Sibetta.

The ones which are in there right now are just serving their bellies and PF is doing its best to undermine the opposition. To someone who proposed to abolish chiefs, I say abolish Parliament and just have LAZ make our laws.

    • Yes Delele, you heard it, Chrispin SIBETTA…

Not sure in what context your question has been put as I can’t read through it… in normal conversation that question would be a mocking mantra directed at the unknown ‘wannabes’, wanting their 15 mins of fame. If that’s what you meant here, you gotta be kidding me. If you know him well and knew his performance, you would agree with me that there was a time when Sibetta was the only Opposition we had in Parliament, when others were sucking up to the MMD. I miss him and I wish he never got old.

  7. I agree with you Jigga that progress has never come out of parliament – just look how easily the MMD lead parliament pulled out the anti-corruption law. There was a time when we could depend on non-governmental organisation as the defacto parliament, but they have become avenues of greed as well.

Mutati as an individual can not perform with the pending axe of the scandals he committed when he was at ZESCO that the World Bank exposed recently. In a nutshell, MMD was never prepared to operate as an opposition party – in their minds it was wamuyayaya. Their own destruction was ingrained in their arrogance.

We need to cultivate political parties with leades who can operate both as incumbents and as opposition. I have no sympathy for the MMD. If they fail, some other party will rise

  8. Ba MDD or MMD!chati na pwete! bickering on non issues Dora” Big Pussy” silly ya! yapping crap!Mabenga on Katele’s throat! yaba anyway MMD would do well to dissolve itself!almost all of them have issues with the law Sikapwasya will be surchaged with 900 mili!OMG!

  9. MMD has failing terible now. How do you expect Mutati to manage issues alone when we have more than 70 MPs in opposition. Why do send MPs to paliament when we could sent Mutati alone? MMD is losing it by trying to discredit Mutati. Even if there will be democracy, Mutati might cry foul and that may turnish MMD image more.

  10. deregister mmd these are tired morons nt knowing wat they want to do.elias chipimo where are u?,we wil vote 4u come 2016.ths country needs radical shake up,judiciary, parley the presidency & all govt depts.pf deal wth ths problem!

  11. Dora Siliya is a liability and should get to study the techniques of humility after contibuting immensely to the unpopularity of MMD following her marital-sex revelations. Mutati is a wrong target and MMD should avoid agitating or frightening an otherwise sober character into a Tetamashimba, Siliya or Mabenga. MMD has a lot of bones to deal with before they can begin to confidently play their role as the official opposition. To begin with, they first have to elect their president and then review their manifesto and thus realign their policies to the new reality. This will then be used as a blue-print for their parliamentary chief whip to raise issues in parliament without sounding like a vuvuzela. Otherwise, let us jealously guard a strong oppisition in parliament. PF is not infallible.

  12. No need for MPs pulling in the opposite direction.. Doing so will hinder development..When the bull elephants fight.. It is the grass that suffer.

  13. We told you this party MMD is gone, it has a lot of selfish people. PF be careful as well, we have heard rumors that Ministers really block the president, citizens would never see him; they already started lying to him. Cobra be careful, get your own Information don’t listen to Ministers, They will play you the RB way.

  14. I prophesize that Mutati (and a few others) will be arrested for the kickback he accepted when he was ZESCO managing director. This will result in the loss of both his parliamentary seat which PF will win and his position as leader of the opposition. Furthermore George Kunda will not recover to take up leadership of the opposition. MMD will fall into deeper squabling and disorganisation. MMD needs leaders who have a heart for the people, not the current crop of arrogant, stiff-necked, egotistical numb-skulls who are wasting time squabbling.

  15. MMD wil never die due 2 one fact which supasses other political entities and that is—– it does not belong 2 an individual kekekeke
