Dalitso Lungu Loses Property Forfeiture Appeal

Former President Edgar Lungu’s son, Dalitso Lungu, has lost his bid to halt the forfeiture of properties deemed to be proceeds of crime.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has ruled that Dalitso Lungu has little chance of succeeding in his appeal against the forfeiture of 79 vehicles and 23 properties.

The case involved Dalitso Lungu and Saloid Traders Limited, who had applied for a stay of execution of the court’s order to seize their properties.

The court found that neither Mr Lungu nor Saloid Traders Limited had demonstrated exceptional circumstances to justify halting the forfeiture.

The judgment was delivered by Economic and Financial Crimes Court Judge Annie Anonuju, sitting with Judges Ian Mabbolobblo and Pixxie Yangailo.

The court further noted that Director of Public Prosecutions Gilbert Phiri had successfully established the case for the non-conviction forfeiture of Mr Lungu’s properties, which were deemed to be proceeds of crime.
