The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has expressed concern over what it described as a lack of order in the conduct of presidential campaigns across the country.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro said the current situation risks affecting the smooth administration of the electoral process.
Mr. Kasaro stated that the absence of a coordinated campaign framework has the potential to create confusion and may become a source of conflict among political parties.
He said that all presidential candidates may continue with their already scheduled campaign programmes until June 19, 2026.
Mr. Kasaro announced that after that date, all presidential campaigns will be required to operate under an official Presidential Campaign Timetable to be developed and administered by the Commission.
He said the ECZ will convene a meeting with all presidential candidates on June 22, 2026, to facilitate the formulation of the timetable.
According to Mr. Kasaro, the timetable agreed upon during the meeting will take immediate effect and will guide all presidential campaign activities for the remainder of the campaign period.
The Commission will issue individual invitations to each of the 14 presidential candidates.
Mr. Kasaro said each candidate is expected to attend the meeting accompanied by their party Secretary General and Election Agent or Chairperson for Elections.
He urged presidential candidates and political parties to cooperate with the initiative.
The information was contained in a statement issued by Mr. Kasaro to the media
