The Technical Committee Drafting the Country’s Constitution has said that experts drafting the final document will need a minimum of not less than two months to complete the drafting exercise.

This means additional month to the earlier June 30th deadline that the Technical committee had indicated as the deadline for submission of the final document to government.

Spokesperson of the Technical committee Ernest Mwansa noted that forcing the team drafting the constitution to stick to the June 30th deadline as earlier indicated may undermine the outcome of the entire exercise.

Mr. Mwansa has also disclosed that the technical committee has already finished going through all resolutions from the national convention and that the draft persons have also started the actual drafting of the constitution.

And Government has said that it may consider extending the deadline for the submission of the final draft constitution by the Technical Committee Drafting the Constitution.

This follows revelations that the Technical Committee still has a long way to go before it can complete the drafting of the new constitution.

Justice Deputy Minister, Ngosa Simbyakula has disclosed in an interview that the Technical Committee last week sent a letter to his Ministry requesting an extension of the time in which to hand in the final draft constitution as well as allocation of more funds.

Dr. Simbyakula however notes that his Ministry through the Minister of justice is yet to table the letter before cabinet

  1. awe ba fi color fyenu. no more money you stupid imbeciles. just work with what you have. welcome to our world as engineers. little money but expected to deliver at 110% rate. Just finish the constitution, after all,we know that the next governement will also start a new constitution shingananani. fusekeni

    • 50+1 chapter and running `mate` (HH or Never) chapter must be included in that piece of paper otherwise.. you will see!

    • Zambia will still be drafting a “New” constitution a century into self rule. Zimbabweans started drafting their much much later than us, yet Mugabe has already singed it off – ababa serious an decisive efyobabomba! It all started off as a clever way of stealing tax money, but has been so overdone that even babies and illiterates now know it as the most shameless and stupid way of STEALING from the poor – its worse than subsidies!!!

  2. Ok if thats what it will take to do the right job then the government must tag along. It is doing the right job that matters at the end of the day.

  3. Just import the 2010 kenyan constitution whole then we can tweak it to fit zambian needs instead of this endless gobbling up of scarce zambian funds by wasteful commissions .Afterall the rough draft sounded very similar to the kenyan version.

  4. NO, NO, NO…………………I hope this has nothing to do with the money being recovered from of subsidies issue

  5. This explains why BUFI revisits LIERS. PF Sata LIED to Zambians that his govt will produce a national constitution within 90 days. Zambians skeptic about it and have been proved right. Sata should just apologise to the nation about lies of his promises that have proved to be false. Mr Sata’s govt is spending colossal sums of money on his blotted cabinet ministers and countless deputies and perm secretaries. Now more money for committee drafting constitution. Meanwhile, majority poor Zambians are suffering. Zambians have lost confidence in PF govt. and will be changing govt in the next elections.

    • Which Zambians are you talking about? Say ” I have lost confidence in PF” and not we or Zambians.

    • i have. Deception is a criminal offense. Maybe the removal of immunity from him may the opportunity for him to explain why seemly most cam pain promises are failing to be fulfilled the PF party.

  6. Committee must shoulder full responsibility and accept to complete task without further delay nor more cash payments. Duty for duty. When you accept to provide a service to government, then you must deliver to specification. This is no picnik.

  7. You constitution fimofimo. The money you were given is enough just do the work. In fact writing that paper can just take two months. What do you write then?

You want just to be enjoying the money while doing nothing.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  8. Give them as much time as they need, but no more money!! These guys are a bunch of mercenaries. Where is the patriotism and professionalism. If any more money should be spent, it should be on oversight bodies or consultants and not on these jokers. We can also invite our Kenyan brothers to help as finalize the document.
In my eyes too much time has been spent on this document, if you consider to Mvunga and Mwanakatwe comissions. It was a question of putting everything together and rejecting what was not applicable. M@r@ns!

  9. Ala Mu Zambia mwaba bakabwalala.no sacrifice at all.Iwe it seems 90% of Zambians are thieves. Can writing a document take U 1 year sure?

  10. Nothing but incompetence on the part of these parasites. They should be more professional with respect to timing and timetables. A lot of money has been spent on their allowances. Such activities of time wasting would never be condoned in the private sector. If they want an extension they should fund themselves and not expect anything from the tax payers.

  11. Bar Fee Colour now want to chew bucks from subsidies, you have no human heart. we are a cursed nation.

  12. honestly speaking this document is milking a lot of money than what it contains. the next Government wont take this constitution seriously knowing the level of education of mr Sata, this means that the next Government will come up with its constitution,at the end the one who is suffering is an ordinary Zambia. hopefully i will never go back to Zambia.no hope.

  13. no no no no no!!!!! why dont you people work professionally, if you told the Zambian people that june the constitution will be ready let it be so. Extending the time tells us you too comfortable at your sits and you dont plan to finish the job and continue recieving those ridiculous sitting allowance amounts.

  14. Okay, there you have it, you have by blessings, you have the extension from 90 days, june30th, August30th. We are used now but next time learn to use phrases like by 90 days; by june30th and so on. If that is what is going to gives us a ‘people driven’ law of the land that is going to stand the test of time. In any case I want that law that will deal with the bye-elections by the time PF is in opposition again. Enjoy your allowances ladies and gentlemen! I haven’t started with you yet!

  15. What is better full baked final draft or half baked with a lot of excuses like ‘twalimyebele’ sentiments ‘ we told u’ . Give them enough rope to hang them selves.

  16. Zambians here me, this time sata has told the TC on the constitution to consider fitting in the gay issue after he met with Banki ku moon. watch my words…………..
