Zambia will kick-off the 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup outing in East Africa with a possible tricky tie against Tanzania on 28 November in Machakos Town.
The CECAFA Cup takes place from 27 November-December 12 in Kenya.
Zambia’s other Group B rivals are Burundi and Somalia.
According to the tournament schedule, Zambia’s second group match at CECAFA will be on 1st December against Burundi.
Chipolopolo will later face Somalia in their final group match on December 4.
Zambia is the only guest team at this year’s CECAFA Cup in Kenya.
Chipolopolo have won the CECAFA Cup three times with the lastest being in 2006 when organisers declined to give Zambia the trophy in preference to losing finalists Sudan who where beaten 11-10 on penalties following a goalless draw in Ethiopia.
That’s a good litmus test for our new coach, lets wait and see …….otherwise he can also pack and ….
That is scary!!
Zambia are boring to watch. Let’s just send Nkana there. That way we’ll help them prepare well for continental soccer.
If Bauleni fails to win CECAFA, he shud face the chop
I hope they lose big time.
FAZ should use this opportunity to try other players who have had no chance of featuring for the nation team regularly. I have in mind Sydney Kalume, Toaster Nsabata, Situmbeko, Sate Sate and other such players. Even the likes of Harry Milanzi should be given an opportunity just to inspire the young lads.
Harry Mlanzi????????????????????????? Are you out of your f…u….c…k…i…ng mind. Let us post meaningful comments.
Please school me here again. What was the reason why Zambia was not given the trophy in 2006?
Even me I cant understand what these guys mean by saying “Zambia wasn’t given the trophy in 2006 because bla…bla…bla….” What are you trying to tell us LT?
The CECAFA Secretary General, Nicholas Musonye, explained that FAZ was told the conditions for the invitation; should the Guest Team win, they would only get the Prize Money and the Trophy would remain within the CECAFA region. That is, it would be given to the best team from within CECAFA region. Judge for yourself if it makes sense.
Still not making sense at all!!
CECAFA does not allow the CECAFA Trophy to go outside the CECAFA regional boundary. As such, a victorious Guest Team is not given the trophy; it is only given the prize money. The trophy is only given to a winner if that winner is from the CECAFA region. That is what CECAFA SG said on Supersport when this issue was still hot in Zambia.
Give them a chance let’s wait and see go zambia go
@john and paolo di canio the reason Zambia was not given the trophy was that, the organizers do not allow the trophy to go out of east Africa. but however, Zambia was given the full package of champions in terms of monetary.
Ooohhh….I get it now!! But if it is not allowed to get out of East Africa, then no non East African country should be invited.
Milanzi, did you say? Awe naimwe there are young players who havent been given an opportunity like sate sate not Milanzi. We can also get some of those vibrant under 17 and 20 from shepolopolo teams to strenghten our male team. I have in mind that ka No 11, she is not a match for our captain.
Iyeeeeeeeee……. am scared for mother Zambia’s name football wise. Our record shows Chipolopolo under-performs when they face small and uncounted teams in Africa, such as Burundi, Somalia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Tanzania. Chipolopolo will lose all the games and I urge them not to proceed further.
Good luck Chipolopolo, the coach should try Stanely Nshimbi, Daka the new ZANACO striker, State Sate, Kalume S., K. Mtonga, Nsabata, Mundia, the New Power Midfielder, Kapumbu, Ng’onga, Moses Phiri, Captain from Arrows, S Malambo, Msakanya we need young enthusiastic boys, a team where we can get permanent national team players!! Sate Sate dont go to TP Mabwende pliz!!
ati ngati team yamene ya wina niyija ta chita invite,ba kawina bazatenga ma hafu, but chikobe chizasala kwabo ku yeast afirika ,ayo ndiyo ma conditions ya invitation ,so paja ba zed no wina mu 2006,nobwera ku gettamo ma hafu.i think mwanvera.ka

Good luck to CHIPOLOPOLO having being invited to CECAFA, but as Grace posted on condition put in for Chipolopolo that the trophy remains in the east still fine.
