Government has been hailed for showing leadership by coming out in the open about President Michael Sata’s health.
In a statement issued yesterday, the President’s special assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chellah disclosed that President Sata left the country for medical checkup on Sunday 19th October in the company of some family members to unknown destination abroad.

Speaking in an interview with Qfm News, Alliance for Better Zambia President Frank Bwalya said it is good that government has finally opened up with regards President Sata’s health.
Father Bwalya has since called upon all Zambians to commit President Sata in prayers. He noted that the fact that the Head of State is only going for a medical checkup, the prayer should be that the Doctors attend to him in good time for him to return and be part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

the fact that the Head of State is only going for a medical checkup, the prayer should be that the Doctors attend to him in good time for him to return and be part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations

[/pullquote]And United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema, who has also wished President Sata a quick recovery and God’s guidance, has observed that it is clear that the Patriotic Front (PF) government has mishandled the illness of President Sata from the start.

Mr. Hichilema told Qfm News by telephone that he believes the PF government has been hiding President’s Sata illness for too long despite it being clear to every Zambian that the Head of State has been unwell.

The UPND leader stated that what government has done by informing the national about President Sata’s medical checkup should have been done way back.

Meanwhile the Grand Coalition on the Demand for the People Driven Constitution has described government’s disclosure of President Sata’s travel abroad for a medical checkup as a positive.
Coalition Chairperson Leonard Chiti said the fact that many people know that President Sata has not been enjoying the best of his health in the recent time, is obviously necessary that he may require the necessary medical attention.

Father Chiti told Qfm News in a separate interview that the Coalition however advises that once the Head of State returns from his medical checkup and after the Jubilee celebrations, he should proceed on medical leave in order for him to recuperate.

    • Dieser Mann ist tot

Er verbrachte sein Leben spöttischen anderen und jetzt ein Kohlkopf ist er.

    • Sata will be away for 14 days. Sick note iyo mulete, madays yake kupaka?

According to section 6, sub-section 1 of the minimum wages act, He is entitled to get 26 sick off days in 12 months. After which the employer starts deducting from your leave days.

This man has exhausted his sick offs, including his leave days. Then what next minister of labour?

    • Fr. Bwalya, don’t just be hopeful. Just play to St. Michael and Ba Sata will definitely be there at the stadium on Saturday.
I am landing Thursday midnight… to launch my campaign at the Independence Day.

    • I was also hopeful that the President would be back by Friday when I read the State House Press release suggesting that “he has gone for a medical check up”. However, those hopes, like many before, have now been dashed after learning that the Republican President has just checked in at the very expensive Harley Street Clinic in London (Zambia reports).
I did not know that you actually check in or get admitted to simply have a medical check up. But then again, I have never had the kind of money to warrant a trip to the Harley Street Clinic. My GP only gives me 10-20mins for a check up.

    • I always say Zambia never fails to amaze and is lacking political leadership. How can a leader (opposition or otherwise) “priase” Govt for telling half baked truths to the nation? Opposition leaders should continue to condemn this Govt of lies and deceipt for lying that “Sata has gone for a medical check up,” when infact he has gone for medical treatment. They should be condemning the fact that State house and therefore Govt are so reckless to spend colossal sums of money on travel and accomodation for a simple medical check up. Something the wife has a qualified Dr can do at home or better still they could have paraded Sata attending a check up at UTH.

    • Listen and i quote what medical check up means

“a thorough physical examination; includes a variety of tests depending on the age and sex and health of the person”

If you understand this, you will know the president is FINE

Not me this is from wikipedia

      Thanks

    • I knew that he would not attend the jubilee celebrations for fear embarrassing the PF at the time they were saying Sata is fit and working.

Guys Scott is a liar. We do not need him to rule our country at all.

    • MISSING
One president – last see leaving for destinations unknown. If sighted please report to the nearest unencumbered Zambian citizen

  1. HH, how can you wish a quick recovery to a person who has just gone for medical check up? The govt hasn’t said he is sick, the man is fit, strong and sound….acording to the PF govt.
I, just like Father Bwalya, also hope to have him officiate at the Jubilee celebrations.

  2. I think I have missed something about this medical trip. Did it say that he went for check up or did ut say treatment or review? I was thinking that medical check up does not mean that someone is sick. People go for medical check up all the time, just like they go for dental or eye check ups in fact it is recommended. From what I have read it doesn’t state that the President is sick because had the text alluded to that it may have stated that he has gone for treatment or review. So can we put things in perspective!

  3. So let me get this right – the man goes to NY with an entourage of 40 vultures who also happen to be clansmen from Muchinga and does nothing but stays in his expensive room whilst there. He then gets back to Zambia without any form of explanation as to why he did not do any work in NY and embarrass the country by being a no show when he was supposed to make a keynote speech but instead goes into hibernation and now goes for a ‘medical check up’ all at tax payers’ expense with the fat Kasebanya in toe and docile Zambians are still talking about celebrating the 50 year independence jubilee when the country is much poorer than at the time it attained its so called freedom!

    • @Mphendula
I’m afraid I could not have stated it more aptly myself. I find it dificult to understand that sata is being praised for nonsensical things like appearing in public and for issuing an sms that he has gone abroad for medical check up. People are missing the real issue, which is that the country is paying an absentee president and on top of that we are footing his expensive medical bills and travel for his relatives. Money the country doesn’t have. How can a nation be this docile? I would have expected HH to highlight these issues as an economist but he just seems to be thankful that the country has been informed. Pathetic.. I’m seriously begining to doubt whether HH is indeed capable of wining elections!

  4. So Sata has stopped been man of ACTION man of action-less. This a man PF are calling a president for the poor now running away from important events.this is real circus and God will deal with you for lying to million zambians. you will see

  5. ANYWAY WHATEVER TERMINOLOGY ‘SICK’ OR REVIEW’ ! WHY LEAVE AT NIGHT WHAT !PROTOCOL IS THIS ‘DONCH KUMONEKA’ KI KI KI KI ALL THE BEST BA PRESIDO

  6. Zambians never cease to amaze me! The PRESIDENT has just gone for a medical check-up but I don’t know why some people are quick to wish him a quick recovery as though the govt has said he is sick.
Wish your father a quick recovery if at all you have any!

    Thanks.

  7. @ Bachimwelela, it’s dontchi Kumoneka for real. Look at these gutless opposition leaders they even praise the government for saying he has left for a “checkup”. Imagine if Sata was fit and in the opposition and a sitting president was being handled the way he is. Instead of praising the government important questions must be asked. Questions such as:
    1) Why the need to travel abroad for a medical “checkup” and with family members if they maintain the man is fit and healthy.

2)Why the secrecy about the destination if it is just a simple checkup.

3)Why can’t a this checkup be performed domestically?

4)Why do other people have to speak for this “fit and healthy president”? The last time people heard anything from him was the disaster on 9 -19.

    5)how much money is being…

    • Its because the country has gone to the Dogs and the last time i checked Dogs do not speak

  8. Chakalipa . Chilomo changulube chilaipenyeke . fyatulikila kumalushi . this time it has gone beyond hiding . now Kaseba alatekako amatako panshi asuka aponesha mulubansa . people should learn to tell the truth . when Sata Promised in the Church that he would lead this Nation using ten commandments . one of the commandments is Not to tell lies . but State House has been telling lies . God is watching . Ba PF try by all means to tell the truth . Mushota come out in the open , what is your coment .

  9. Looking at this from a crazy perspective….Maybe it s good thing he has gone out of the country. Imagine celebrating a milestone independence anniversary with all the foreign dignitaries, elo mudala ends up either not showing up or showing up then saying one of the embarrassing things he says sometimes…

  10. @Father Bwalya-Stupid Opposition Leader-Praising blatant lies at the expense of National Development.Your Ten Commandments Sata has been on ilegal sick leave since June 2014.Let him just humbly resign or be forced to rest.He has aleady broken the annals of Zambian presidential history of being the most tribal, lair, corrupt, illiterate, incompetent, absentee & ukwish(comedian)president. He thinks Zambia is a monarchy state! He has really delayed social economic development of the nation with his sickness.

  11. I like how pipo can publicly expose their ignorance. Medical check has been ably defined by one Mushota who has quoted the Wikipedia. Let us not wish somebody dead. God giver of life and He takes it back at the right time-this is the case for all of us His creatures.

  12. In that case let all Zambian citizens do their medical check ups abroad on friday 24.10.2014 and miss the golden jubilee.

Plz do not misunderstand me , Sata is my mbuya. I am only pulling Bembas legs.

  13. He’s away till after independence ka Father. Read the news. (HH) as usual chipping in off target. What has government mishandled? They’ve informed us he’s gone for medical review and you’re saying they should have told us long ago? Nothing pleases some of these cretins. Why not crawl back into your caves if you have nothing to talk about. Keep hoping that you will ascend to power through the death of Mazoka and our father of the nation. Your wild Satanic dreams will never come to pass, you are just an evil cattle rustler, a devil worshiper and free mason. You can’t be a leader of a great country like ours. It would be an insult to state house if we were to introduce your type to the presidency

  15. @Kudos! Sometimes its un normal & absurd to see your outrageous wild compulsions towards HH! HH isn’t the one who lied to rule Zambia using the Ten Commandments,HH isn’t the one who promised a constitution within 90 days & many more lies.We Know you envy HH in denial big time! Your Sata has got his own health challenges & so is HH.So get a life & stop hallucinating about HH’s cattles & wealth & he’s not free mason like you !
