Government says it is important for Immigration Department Officers to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Home Affairs Deputy Minister Gerry Chanda said the Immigration departments manning border posts have serious responsibilities due to the nature of their work.
Mr. Chanda warned officers manning border posts at Immigration department to avoid all forms of corrupt practices or risked being suspended or dismissed from work.
He said their role is to manage the border areas in a professional manner on behalf of the Zambian government.
Mr. Chanda said this in Kazungula yesterday when he familiarized himself with the operations of men and women in uniform at Kazungula border post.
He also said the influx of people going to Kazungula is likely to increase because of the Kazungula Bridge project which will soon be commencing hence the need for officers in the area to prepare adequately.
Earlier, Immigration Officer in charge at Kazungula border post Michael Banda assured the Deputy Minister and his entourage that his team was ready for the coming bridge project.
Meanwhile, Kazungula District Administrative Officer Gorretti Bballo highlighted on the number of developmental projects currently going on in Kazungula such as the construction of housing units for police officers among others.
Goodness me?? Is it when you have woken up?? Not Immigration officers alone. ZRA are the worst.

Does this Minister live in Zambia? Does he travel on the same roads we do? Does he seek any services from any goverment or parastatal institution? Everyone in uniform from a security guard to a massenger are corrupt! How many army chiefs have been convicted of corruption? Zambia is a failed state. Minister you did not need to go to the border to see corruption unless you went blindfolded! You just have to step out of your doorstep and voi^la!
I saw an Arab man hand over money to a Zambian, “airport officer in a green vest and a walkie talkie” ….just minutes before the gate opened to board Air Emirates at KK International Airport.
The minister just like any other person in Zambia knows the levels of corruption in the country. It is important to constantly caution our officers and advise them to be as professional as possible. It is a pity that our supposedly law enforcement officers are the ones in the fore front of corruption. Nobody is really protecting our country honestly due to corruption, we as a country we have lost a sense of belonging due to poverty and willing to sale of our land for a penny. What a shame!
