Government is currently engaged in negotiations concerning the bus fares.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Richwell Siamunene says government is currently engaged in discussions with bus operators to agree on the how much can be bus fare increment.

Mr. Siamunene told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the public will be informed when the agreement will be made.

He said the increment that the bus operators were demanding was far much more than the increment of the fuel prices.

Mr. Siamunene said until a more realistic and fair suggestion in the increment is made, the bus fares will remain the same.

The deputy minister reiterated that government will remain committed to ensuring that any decision made during the ongoing negotiations will be of equal benefit to all key players.

  1. Very shortly fuel prices are subject to change sharply to negative dive, are they also going to reduce.

    • It’s liberalised economy in Zambia, meaning businesses or prices are guided and controlled by demand and supply, not by Minister/government. Political expedience and ignorance/poor governess are evils targeted at
      minibuses.

  2. Let market forces do the sorting out in line with government management of the economy.
