The United Party for National Development (UPND) Copperbelt Management Team has welcomed more than 1,500 new members, mostly from the Patriotic Front (PF), in the Bwana Mkubwa Constituency in Ndola.
The event was organized by Bwana Mkubwa aspiring Member of Parliament, Mr. Wallen Hinyama, who also serves as the Copperbelt UPND Youth Chairman. Mr. Hinyama pledged that, if given the opportunity to serve as the area MP, he would offer servant leadership for the people of Bwana Mkubwa under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema. He emphasized that President Hichilema has brought significant development to the Copperbelt and beyond.
Copperbelt Province UPND Chairman and Provincial Minister, Hon. Elisha Matambo, addressed the new members via phone. He encouraged them to actively participate in party activities, highlighting that President Hichilema believes in treating all members equally, whether they are newcomers or long-time members. Hon. Matambo also urged both new members and existing party officials to continue their hard work in expanding the party’s base.
“We thank the ambassadors of change for their decision to join the ruling UPND. This demonstrates that President Hakainde Hichilema has made remarkable progress in all sectors of the economy over the past four years,” he said.
Mr. Davies Mwango, representing the new members, said the over 1,500 individuals who joined the party are motivated by the achievements of the UPND government under President Hichilema in various sectors of the economy during the past four years.
Copperbelt UPND Provincial Treasurer, Mr. Ernest Lufunda, encouraged members to embrace unity as the party prepares for the upcoming general elections. Meanwhile, UPND Ndola District Chairman, Mr. Onesmus Mudenda, urged all members to intensify their mobilization efforts in Ndola District to ensure a landslide victory for President Hichilema and other party candidates.
Patricia Mwaanga, Copperbelt UPND Chairlady, assured that the women’s wing in the province would continue to play a leading role in the mobilization drive across the Copperbelt.
