A Monze-based police officer, Chief Inspector Micheal Nyirenda, has died following a head-on collision along the Great North Road in Monze District. Prominent Zambian musician David Banda, popularly known as General Ozzy, is receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the same accident.
The incident occurred in the Machinga area, where an eyewitness reported that General Ozzy was driving a Lexus and following a South African truck. The truck suddenly stopped, prompting Ozzy to swerve to avoid a collision. However, he ended up crashing head-on into a police vehicle driven by Chief Inspector Nyirenda, who was travelling from south to north.
The police officer died instantly in the crash, while a woman seated in the passenger seat of the police vehicle and another passenger with General Ozzy also sustained injuries.

Not travelling a safe distance behind a moving vehicle
I totally agree with Tikki above. Safe distance was not maintained. Had this been the case, this accident could have been avoided.
Tailgating causes accidents. Every thinking person knows this. If you drive recklessly and a life is lost, you should go to jail.
But tailgating on the highway? For what? The more distance between you and the car ahead the better the chances of seeing oncoming traffic
Rest in peace ?????
Following too close….you get a ticket especially a truck…because you can’t see whats in front of the Truck thats why you have to keep a safe distance……
