The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has described as painful the death of two female football players for Shalom Queens Academy, Martha Mwanamwalye and Christine Mabati.
FAZ Vice President, Bornface Mwamelo said the duo, who were killed in a hit and run road accident on April 4 were examples of improving women’s football in the country.
Speaking in Lusaka during a church service at New Apostolic Church,Mr Mwamelo said the football fraternity had lost two young footballers who were role models for other young footballers.
He said the association will miss the contributions of the players to women’s football.
Former President Rupiah Banda Chats With President Micheal Sata in Church during the Funeral serivice of the Late By Mwila
Former Republican President Rupiah Banda has charged that it is too early to judge the performance of the PF government in the agriculture sector during last twenty four months they have been in power.
Mr. Banda has also observed that agriculture in the country is improving citing foreign investors who have shown interest to take part in agricultural activities of the country.
Mr. Banda says the challenge that remains in the agriculture sector is the fact that people of Zambia are not able to take advantage of new agricultural technology which he believes can immensely contribute to the growth of the sector.
Mr. Banda, who is also a commercial farmer, states that there is need to promote and encourage every sector of the economy to continue attracting foreign investment.
He notes that if local farmers can take advantage of the agricultural technology and apply it in their agricultural activities, the country’s economy will boom and will rake in the required revenues.

The Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) says the MMD still remains a party with leaders of a very high caliber and intellectuals who can easily resolve their current differences in a decent manner.
ZDDM President Edwin Sakala says while his party agrees that Zambia needs a leader like former president Rupiah Banda, it is wrong for MMD members to call for his comeback simply because they want to remove their elected president Nevers Mumba.
Mr Sakala has pleaded with MMD officials calling for the comeback of the former president to open their eyes and see that Zambia is under the influence of an alleged desperate Cartel which can do anything to escape justice.
He says the degree and levels of desperation and fear of Mr Banda coming back to power is extreme that there is need to ensure his safety by respecting his desire to go back to farming.
Mr Sakala states that Zambia is like a house on fire because the nation is under a perceived demonic spell of division and selfishness.
The Forum for Democracy and Development (FFD) has backed calls for the resignation of Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda and Bank of Zambia BOZ governor Dr Michael Gondwe for allegedly failing to provide solutions to country’s economic challenges.
Speaking in an interview FDD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza said the two people running the country’s economy have failed and should resign so that other people can takeover the running of the two respective institutions.
Mr Mwanza said Mr Chikwanda is no longer young and does not have the energy to work for long hours required for demands to run the country’s economy hence should pave way for someone younger with the energy and capacity to understand the dynamics of modern economy.
“Mr Chikwanda is no longer young to work 6 to 6 and running the country’s economy requires someone with the energy to work long hours and deal with the demands it comes with.”
“Mr Chikwanda does not understand the dynamics of modern economy as you can see from his borrowing, he should resign and save the country from totally collapsing,” said Mr Mwanza.
He observed that the Minister has continued to lead the country towards debt trap like he did when he was Minister 40years ago with his borrowing hence the need for him to resign before he mortgages the country again.
And Mwanza said BOZ governor should not be leading the institution as his qualification are that of an investment lawyer and not a banker.
He said Dr Gondwe should be looking for investors to invest in the country instead of leading the central bank.
“Mr Gondwe should not be sitting at the Bank of Zambia, Mr Gondwe should be looking for investors to come and invest in Zambia,” he said.
Last week Zambian Voice Executive Director called for the resignation of the Minister and his counterpart BOZ governor Micheal Gondwe for allegedly failing to find solutions to country’s economic challenges and the free fall of the kwacha against major foreign currencies.
United Party for National Development (UPND) has urged ruling Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba to stop lying to the public that the country needs to carry out a census to have a referendum.
UPND deputy Secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba says Mr Kabimba should know that the country can use the central statistics office estimates which is done every year to estimate how many new eligible voters there is in the country then register them as voters which would save the K15 million the minister said is needed to carry out a census.
Mr Simusamba said Mr Kabimba should not use the carrying out of a census as a latest excuse for denying Zambians the constitution.
“We can avoid spending 15million by using estimates from central statistics office to know how many new eligible voters are out there and then carry out voter registration so the Justice Minister should not use that excuse to derail the process,” said Mr Simusamba.
He further called on him to stop cheating the public and release the constitution and honor the promises they made to the people in 2011.
He added that the delay in releasing is making the PF unpopular in the country because people have known that they can not deliver any of the things they promised.
Mr Simusamba was commenting on Mr Kambimba’s remarks that the country can not have a referendum because it needs to carry out a census first.

Novartis announced today that two million treatments of its pediatric antimalarial are arriving in Zambia thanks to the ongoing efforts of the company in collaboration with Malaria No More’s Power of One campaign. Zambia is the first beneficiary country of this campaign sponsored by Novartis. One million treatments of Coartem® Dispersible have been funded through public donations and Novartis matched these with a further one million treatments. These antimalarials will reduce the disease burden in Zambia, which accounts for up to 40% of infant mortality in that country2.
“Although the incidence of malaria has decreased, the disease still kills a child every minute in Africa,” said Joseph Jimenez, CEO of Novartis. “Our commitment to Power of One reflects our company’s long-term efforts to fight malaria and Novartis remains dedicated to controlling and ultimately eliminating this deadly disease.”
Power of One is a global digital fundraising campaign that enables people around the world to help end child deaths from malaria, a preventable and treatable disease. This fatal disease has been recognized by the World Health Organization as a priority area of public health. This year’s World Health Day focuses on vector-borne diseases, and malaria is the most deadly1.
The campaign, which launched to the public in September 2013, uses social, mobile, and e-commerce technologies, enabling the public to purchase treatments for children in Zambia. Donors are able to share information with their social networks and encourage friends to donate.
“One and a half million treatments are already on the ground in Zambia thanks to the Power of One campaign, with a further 500,000 anticipated in the coming weeks,” said Martin Edlund, CEO, Malaria No More. “Power of One is resonating with the general public, and their donations will help us ensure that children in Zambia will have access to the treatment they need.”
Novartis is supporting the campaign financially and has pledged to match up to 1 million treatments funded by the public every year through 2015. For more than a decade, the Novartis Malaria Initiative has worked to improve access to treatment, help communities deliver better healthcare and has invested in research and development into the next generation of antimalarials. Since 2009, Novartis has delivered over 600 million treatments, of which more than 200 million were treatments developed specifically for children, without profit to malaria-endemic countries. Never before have so many pediatric treatments been distributed in such a short timeframe to children suffering from malaria.
Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia executive director Pukuta Mwanza follows proceedings during the meeting to demand for the release of the draft Zambia constitution
The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) says both the government and the Technical Committee tasked with drafting the new constitution have betrayed the Zambia people.
EFZ Executive Director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza has told QFM News that the technical committee had promised the people of Zambia that it will present the draft constitution simultaneously to the appointing authority and the Zambian people, which they have failed to do.
Reverend Mwanza said the manner the Technical Committee and government have both handled the constitution making process is disappointing.
Rev Mwanza said it appears the both the government and the technical committee do not want to tell the Zambian people the truth on who is holding on to the draft constitution.
He has challenged the PF government to fulfill its campaign promise to the people of Zambia by delivering a people driven constitution.
Rev. Mwanza added that the turn of events in the constitution making process should be a lesson to other opposition political parties not to make fake promises while in opposition and later change their minds when in power.
UPND vice president-political Richard Kapita addressing Mandevu residents during the party’s public rally
UPND deputy president for administration Richard Kapita says politics of stereotyping and labeling being practiced in Lusaka would make one think Zambia was on a verge of civil war against each yet all the lovely people of Zambia were the same and still united as before.
“I can assure you that as UPND when we come into power in 2016 through your support, politics of bickering, tribal stereotyping and labeling that has taken center stage for many years will not be our priority, but hard work for our people,” he said.
Speaking when he addressed several wards, constituency, district, and provincial party recruitment and mobilization meetings in his 20-days marathon tour of Luapula and Northern provinces, Mr. Kapita said he could not also understand why such a beautiful country blessed with all manner of resources should be poor and dependent on borrowed resources like the PF were doing.
Mr Kapita said Luapula province alone is endowed with huge economical potential, climatic conditions, landscapes, and water bodies that any country in this world needs to develop fully.
“When I look at just the water bodies, landscape, climatic conditions and the beautiful people of Luapula province surely something should be wrong with the priorities being set by those in leadership and I fear God will never forgive us for not setting correct policies for our people”, he said.
He said with the right policies and leadership in power, Luapula province alone can create employment and feed the entire Zambia through fishing, agriculture, industries in sugar plantation, rice growing, palm oil, and tourism something that many developed countries do not have.
And Mr. Kapita says he was surprised with the rapid growth that the UPND has managed since he visited the province last year and shows that people across the country were embracing the party as a serious alternative.
He said it was surprising that people in various wards, constituencies, and districts in Luapula province were taking up the initiative to set-up structures on their own.
“Most of these structures I am meeting here were actually set-up even without our knowledge in Lusaka. I must confess I am very embarrassed but at the same time very encouraged with this development. I cannot imagine, but very impressed, that you people have already even identified possible UPND candidates for wards and constituencies for 2016,” he said.
He said the UPND will from now onwards pay particular attention to Luapula province through regular visitations by senior party leadership including the party president Hakainde Hichilema.
And UPND National Chairperson Ms. Mutale Nalumango who is part of the entourage appreciated that a lot of groundwork has been done in places visited so far such as Mwense, Mwansabombwe, Nchelenge and Chiengi districts but stressed that more work needed to be done and make UPND the strongest party in the province.
The delegation that has also been paying courtesy calls to traditional leadership comprises party Chairperson for Labour Percy Chanda, party campaign team leader Bernard Mpundu who is also former Minister in the MMD administration, Party Chairperson for Local government Regina Musokotwane and other officials.
And Mr. Chanda stressed the need to recruit more members from all age groups and gender in the province as party of party mobilization.
And the party leadership in the province complained of lack of regular visits by senior party leadership, a situation they described as quite frustrating at times.
They said they were now encouraged to meet senior party officials and were eagerly awaiting party president Mr. Hichilema, who should have been in the entourage but some other urgent party programme and came up.
Students from institutions of higher learning sing solidarity songs during the gathering the demand for the release of the draft Zambian constitution.
Students Unions in the country have been challenged to be active in their participation in governance and national matters.
Former Copperbelt University Students Union (COBUSU) Secretary General, Levy Sakala, told QFM News in an interview that the student movements in the major universities in Zambia are not influencing government policies in the positive direction.
Mr. Sakala said the student movement should have been in the forefront in demanding for the release of the final republican constitution unlike what is experienced now.
He said the current students unions are not vibrant, because during his time, student unions were strong and that the student movement is supposed to influence government policy in the positive direction.
The former COBUSU Secretary General sais that student unions needed to be revived in the positive sense so that they are able to shadow the government.
He has since encouraged students unions to take a big role in demanding for the release of the final draft constitution.
Placards denouncing Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba over the constitution
The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has challenged the Technical Committee and the Ministry of Justice to tell the nation where the ten copies of the final draft constitution are.
FODEP Executive Director, MacDonald Chipenzi, told QFM News in a telephone interview that it is worrying to hear that government has refused that it never received the documents while the technical committee has maintained that it handed over the documents to government.
Mr. Chipenzi, who is also Grand Coalition championing for the speedy enactment of the new constitution spokesperson, saID it is the will of every Zambian citizen to have a new republican constitution.
Mr. Chipenzi saID government is frustrating the people of Zambia through its delaying tactics to deliver a new republican constitution.
Mr. Chipenzi has accused government of not understanding the procedure of having a national referendum and has since called upon the government to engage the CSOs over the same matter.
He says it is for this reason that his organization demands to know where the documents are so that concerned stakeholders can know what to do next.
A reggae fan smoking marijuana during the Bob Marley memorial concert in Lusaka west
GREEN Party president Peter Sinkamba says his party will legalise the cultivation of marijuana in Zambia so that the drug contributes to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
But the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has said it would be irresponsible to encourage drug abuse.
Mr Sinkamba says it is an “open secret” that some commercial farmers in Zambia are allegedly cultivating the herb and making a lot of profit from exporting it.
Speaking at a press conference in Livingstone on Saturday, Mr Sinkamba said there are a lot of people that are in prisons countrywide because of cultivating marijuana, but that this should not be so.
He said if his party forms Government, it will repeal the anti-narcotic laws in the country that promote the prohibition of drugs like marijuana.
He said the marijuana would be grown in restricted high security zones.
“We are going to ensure that the marijuana is exported to countries where the use is regulated and legalised,” Mr Sinkamba said.
But DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo said that young people are already having serious problems associated with alcohol abuse and that there are several things that they can do to contribute to the country’s GDP.
“The law is clear on this and Mr Sinkamba should be the first person to condemn this because of the serious consequences associated with marijuana,” she said.
Mr Sinkamba also said his party would revive agriculture by promoting involvement of young people in the sector.
He said the party would empower youths with loans through a credit facility and would promote agriculture.
“We are going to scrap the Food Reserve Agency and will instead promote cooperative unions as the best way of maize marketing so that the farmers can be empowered more,” Mr Sinkamba said.
He said each citizen would be given 50 hectares of land when they attain the age of 16.
POLICE in Chingola have slapped a charge of disorderly conduct on 42 pupils of Naboonga Trust School who allegedly took part in a sex party on Friday.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said in an interview yesterday that the alleged sex party took place on Friday at a house in Chingola’s Riverside area and it involved 26 boys and 16 girls.
The pupils have been released.
Ms Kasosa described the incident as sad and urged parents to take more responsibility over their children’s lives.
“Responsibility is not all about providing food and clothes but parents should be involved in shaping their children’s behaviour so that they grow into decent adults that can take charge of their lives,” Ms Kasosa said.
Last month, Sathya Sai School in Ndola’s Pamodzi township excluded six pupils and suspended six others for being involved in sex parties.
The school board of directors and disciplinary committee excluded the six pupils and suspended six others for contravening the laws of Zambia and breaking the school’s code of conduct.
In August last year, 12 pupils were suspended from Chikankata Secondary School for indulging in sexual activities.
It was also alleged that the pupils were made to repeat the sexual acts while their teachers photographed them but that turned out to be false after the Human Rights Commission investigated the matter.
MORE than 25 companies and individuals have sued the Lusaka City Council (LCC) over its decision to expand Northmead market claiming the extension would put their lives and those of their customers at a security and health risk.
Vicana Enterprises Limited and 27 other have since asked the Lusaka High court to grant them an injunction restraining the LCC and its servants from continuing the construction and extension of the market.
They also want a declaration that the market extension is a danger to the public health and safety of the companies ’employees, customers and clientele.
The companies said the court should grant them another declaration that they are entitled to the continued use of the public road reserve as parking space for motor vehicles and walk way for customers to Northmead shopping area, the market and the general public.
They have charged in their statement of claim filed in the principal registry that they are companies incorporated under the provisions of the Companies Act and proprietors of Vicana shopping area of the Lusaka city and Lusaka province.
The companies stated that some of the companies were the beneficial owners of the Corner Mall in the Northmead shopping area while others were tenants and doing business at the mall.
They said that the fifth and 28th companies were tenants and business persons doing business from corner mall, Vicana mall and the heritage shopping mall of the Northmead shopping area..
The plaintiffs said that on October 1, 2012, LCC approved the extension of Northmead market and commenced the extension by the construction of an additional 45 shops outside the perimeter walls of the existing market.
They said that the extension of the market is located on the parking lot, road reserve and drainage system in front of their shops which piece of land has been used as public parking space and pedestrian walk space for over 20 years before this action.
The companies further said that the approval of the extension of the market was done without them being given prior notice of the intended extension or an opportunity to raise objections to the extension.
They said that because of the approval, they have been greatly disturbed in the enjoyment of their right of way, safety and health and would suffer loss if the construction is allowed to continue.
The companies further contended that the extension of the market would reduce the already scarce road access and parking space and their customers and other surrounding shops and the general public and would heavily strain the already limited drainage, water and sewerage line thereby posing a major risk to them.
Dr Ludwig Sondashi, the inventor of the Sondashi Formular 2000 HIV herbal remedy has claimed that over 400 people have been cured off HIV after taking his medicine.
Dr Sondashi said his herbal remedy is like a Gold mine which Zambia should seriously explore to address the HIV pandemic.
He said many Zambians including some Ministers in the PF government are taking the Sondashi Formular which is also known as SF 2000.
Dr Sondashi reaffirmed that the SF 2000 is a proven cure for HIV and AIDS.
He was speaking Sunday evening when he featured on ZNBC TV’s Sunday Interview programme.
“I don’t understand why the Zambian government has been reluctant on this issue. Since I discovered the medicine in 2000, only the late Mwanawasa’s government showed seriousness to developing this medicine commercially, its bad he died but the other Presidents including President Sata have not really shown so much interest in this medicine. This is a Gold mine, if Zambia became serious with this innovation, it could solve a lot of problems, we would stop borrowing and youth unemployment would be gone,” Dr Sondashi said.
He added, “Many people have being cured after taking my medicine, I think over 400 people are on our records. Some people don’t report back but last week I received a call from one of my patients in Chipata called that he has been cured and said he is willing to be interviewed on national TV and he agreed, I will arrange for his travel so that ZNBC could interview him.”
He revealed that the SF 2000 has been proven to have safety and efficacy components able to cure HIV as stated by the first clinical trials conducted on 10 patients by late Dr Patrick Chikusu.
“Dr Chikusu’s findings were further authenticated by a panel of scientists in South Africa at a reputable laboratory who found that the medicine was able to kill the HIV virus,” he said.
Dr Sondashi revealed that he discovered the herbal remedy when he set out in pursuit of medicine to cure his Son who later died.
“I was motivated to go out and search for herbs when my Son was ill and conventional medicine failed to cure him, so I went village to village asking people if they knew of any herbs that could cure him and I collected a number of herbs and I just heard something in me directing me to add the herbs together, I think it was just an act of God.”
He also accused western governments of blocking the recognition of his medicine because they have an interest in the manufacturing and supplying of ARVs to Africa.
Innovator of the Sondashi Fomular 2000, Dr. Ludwing Sondashi has retaliated that his herbal medicine cures HIV virus, reports Zambian Eye Correspondent in Lusaka.
And Dr. Sondashi has revealed that despite lack of good will by government some Ministers believe in his medicine and some are even taking it.
Speaking when he featured on Sunday Interview programme on ZNBC Television monitored by Zambian Eye, Dr. Sondashi also revealed that he has so far cured between 300 and 400 people who are now negative.
