PRESIDENT Banda says his administration is not yet satisfied with economic gains Zambia has recorded so far.
Mr Banda said in Lusaka on March 29 that the government will never tire of trying to find more ways and means of boosting national development.
He was speaking at Lusaka International Airport shortly before departure for Livingstone where he is expected to officiate at the seventh Zambia International Business Advisory Council (ZIBAC) meeting, whose focus is job and wealth creation.
“Zambia is picking up quite a lot but we are not satisfied. We want to do more,” Mr Banda said.
He said this is the reason Government has invited outstanding and successful individuals from across the world to the ZIBAC meeting.
Mr Banda said he is looking forward to the meeting because of its importance to the nation.
ZIBAC was set up to provide international business views and practical measures to strengthen the investment climate and business environment in Zambia.
Zambia has so far attracted a lot of foreign direct investment over the past two years since President Banda assumed office and has also accelerated business reforms, which led the country being rated one of the top 10 performers in the world.
And Mr Banda said he will have active working days in Livingstone because after officiating at the ZIBAC meeting, he will host a meeting of heads of State of the Southern African Development Community Organ on Defence and Security Co-operation.
President Banda is the current chairman of the SADC organ whose meeting is expected to tackle various security challenges facing the region, including the political challenges in Zimbabwe and Madagascar.
He said after his working visit to Livingstone, he is looking forward to the MMD national convention slated for April 5 to 7.
On arrival in Livingstone, the President said the two major international meetings in the tourist capital demonstrate Zambia’s zeal for economic advancement and peace, NDUBI MVULA reports.
The 7th ZIBAC conference, this time around has attracted participants from as far as Kazakhstan, Egypt, USA, Europe and other parts of the world.
“This is a sign that the country is conducive for more investment. Let us build Livingstone into a major centre for international conferences so that we can attract business people and create employment for our young people,” he said.
Mr Banda was welcomed by Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Felix Mutati and Southern Province permanent secretary Gladys Kristafor, some senior government and MMD officials at the Livingstone International Airport at about 15:20 hours.
