Jacob Mulenga Uncertain For Uganda Trip following Fathers Death

Share

Zambia and FC Utrecht striker Jacob Mulenga is likely to miss Chipolopolo’s decisive away 2013 Africa Cup qualifier against Uganda following the death of his father.

Jacob’s father Victor Mulenga died on Monday in South Africa where he had been hospitalised.

Jacob’s brother George Mulenga confirmed his father’s death on Tuesday in Kitwe.

“He died right there in South Africa, he died of cancer.”

George added that Jacob is being expected in the country any day this week.

“Jacob is expected any day this week before burial arrangements can be made,” he stated.

Mulenga was named in the provisional 24-member Zambia squad for this Saturday’s return leg set for Namboole Stadium in Kampala.

The striker has not featured for Zambia since October 2011 due to injuries and family commitments.

A groin injury has ruled out TP Mazembe midfielder Rainford Kalaba from the Africa Cup qualifier.

  1. Very sory for your loss Jack. Will not blame you in any way if you do not turn up. On the other hand, you can dedicate this game to your Dear father if you decide to play. Conversely, no one will not blame you at all if you do not play, because many a soccer fun have been through this kind of loss.

  2. condolences Jacob, sorry about it; may God grant u strength and courage in this trying moment  may yo dady’s soul rest in peace.

  3. RIP VC Mulenga…u were Kitwe’s local businessman and investor when the city needed such. I remember you from many years gone by.

  4. Thats a sad development for kitwe and indeed the country. The late VC Mulenga was a an investor not these crafty investors we see around these days.I remember buying “cream puff” from VCM BAKERYwhen coming back to town from KITWE BOYS SECONDARY SCHOOL.Those who where there those days will remember the popular “VCM CREAM PUFF”.Those were memorable days indeed.

  5. People like Chris Katongo are rejoicing.
Sad indeed to Jacob and rest of Mulengas, now we understand why you couldn’t play against.. what team that was.

  6. You guys why do you hate Chris? No 8 very chaodishi. Condolences Jacob. When I lived in Kitwe, VCM puffs and other baked foods were the best and you cannot find the taste even here in US I have not found any bakery that could match VCM or Bamford’s of Kitwe.

  7. Nostradamas… (whatever you are called),
you have no heart whatsoever. I can imagine you to be that type of a person who would go drinking when your own mother is in the morgue. Who celebrates in death? I have restrained myself to use vulgar language but tempt me then you will see and regret. The whole nation is praying for mother Zambia to win in Uganda except you.

  8. I send my condolences to the Mulenga family on the demise of Mr VCM as we all refered to him in Kitwe. I encourage Jacob to remain strong in this trying and difficult moment especially that it is a painful thing to lose a parent.

  9. Actually Jacob should play and score in honour of his late father. The sad thing would be losing a great man and failing to qualify.let the boys do it for Mr.Mulenga MHSRIP.

  10. most bloggers here are children. talking about cream puffs from vcm when the old man brought real sausages in kitwe. we also used to queue for fresh offals then. may his soul rest in peace ’til we meet on the other side.

  11. My friends Mr VCM lived to leave a history! What shall people remember about you and me when our names shall be mentioned ? Rest in peace big man.

  12. **==So sad to hear,l never knew the family personally, but growing up in kitwe where everyone knew everyone,it felt like l knew them, because their bakery was just the best in kitwe,l still rememember as kids from school we would pass through there buy the fresh cream puffs..the staff were nice and polite! RIP Mr VCM..such a polite and humble man..condolences to the Mulenga family stay strong God is with you..lots of prayers from downunder!!

  13. sorry for the sad news of the death of Mulenga’s father but we need acomplete team here in uganda to show our might that we are flying cranes. with Kalaba most likely to be out of the game due to an injury, it will be hard for chipolopolo boys to scoop asingle point out of uganda.

  14. Ba VCM…its so sad. MYSRIIP. Your life is to be rejoiced uncle. You made a mark in Kitwe and among the Zambian people. I know the family personaly, way before Jacob was a superstar. Grew up with them and seen them blossom. Uncle, we will miss you. You were a great man. Abena George will carry on the legacy.
