Matero MP Miles Sampa has revealed that he has been awarded damages amounting to USD $50,000 against Chisala Mulenga, the owner and promoter of Kachepa360, an online gossip site.

Posting on his Facebook page, Mr Sampa who is also Commerce, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister said he will donate funds received from the judgement to charity NGOs both in Matero and other parts of Zambia.

“In order to vindicate my name from perennial slanderous and unsubstantiated allegations directed at me by the online publication Kachepa360, I took up the matter in the USA courts of law where the defendant is domiciled,” he wrote.

He added, “After months of deliberations, the case was awarded in my favour against the promoter of the Publication Kachepa360, Ms Chisala Mulenga, and I have been awarded damages amounting to USD $50,000 at 12 % interest from November 2012.”

Mr Sampa said although he welcomes criticism, he also believes that the journalism profession should be unbiased, factual and professional regardless of the location of their residence or the medium used to disseminate their information.

“I decided on pursuing this matter in the relevant courts abroad to demonstrate that accountability is a standard for all, even for online publications which may feel that they are beyond the reach of the Law,” he said.

The case was heard and judgment delivered by Hon. Judge Patrick J. Brady in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.

Mr Sampa has since commended and thanked the USA justice system and his lawyer Mr Theodore Folkman for the work done.

  1. Finally somebody has fixed ka Chisala.Awe the girl became too much mwe.Na ma cheeky yakumushi.I remember how she used to dare anybody who cared to sue her because she is untouchable and has good lawyers.Bet you have learnt a lesson mwana, stop ukusebanya abantu without having proper facts.Thumbs up Sampa.

    • Umwaiche Chisala i’m also happy i remember seeing her pa arcades awe balaimonapo fimo. She thinks being in the states gives her the license to wash peoples dirty linen in public.Rupiah Banda and HH should also sue her because they were also a subject of her attacks.Ati HH and Cythia Onil.Lol

    • Awe mwandi mafia bebe. Bena balebapela justice whilst they stifle it back at home. Those who seek equity should also practice equity.

  2. Remember cyclist Armstrong successfully sued the papers over his doping scandal? What happened to him? Sometimes courts are just expediency in buying time. We shall wait and see…

    • Yeap……pantu Miles Sampa has eaten matebeto no ku wisha ifitele mu Lusaka. Kachepa 360 may not have had all facts but time will tell. Also, has anyone google this so called judgement in the US? Pantu Miles ni story teller! He may be writing those things to make himself feel better….

  3. If it was in western countries many Zambian politicians would be paying a lot in legal litigations. They have no limit to what they say, no respect for others peoples’ rights. They insult, slander, belittle, falsify facts etc all of which are good grounds for committing them to the legal pursuit. We are too are less out there. And those abroad they seem to suggest their intelligent has gone over and above the rest people they left behind when the truth still remains that we still have far more intelligent people around than the travellers. Boundaries must always be observed, respect other people – each and everyone you see or know. Given the right moment anyone can surprise you with what they can do compared to you.

  4. So Ba Miles why don’t you sue ZWD for the EuroBond corruption accusations levelled against you? Chisala Mulenga was callous and very naive BUT she is small kapenta. Moreover there is no point beating a dog that’s already down and finished.

  5. Thumbs up to Miles Sampa. Chisala Mulenga thinks being abroad is a passport to fabricate stories and assassinate people’s character. I wonder where she will get the $50,000 plus interest to pay Sampa from. Uzambuwa mufana!

    • Ba Cindy, reapeating a slander is actionable in law. SO anyone that repeates the alleged slander may also be liable to legal action.

  6. Thats great news indeed. These useless lap top journalists have gone too far with their falsehood. This is a lesson to all that the expanse of a sea will not protect you. The world is becoming small.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  7. Don’t go chasing after any flies, its just a waste of energy. She will simply file for bankcruptcy protection and you can’t force matters In the USA. The best way to fight lies is to not get distracted. If you are living and breathing, people will always say alwful things about you and if you are a public figure/leader expect worse. “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”

  8. I always get shocked when Africans copy television life style, zambias to be specific think reality TV is real or “American” way of living is cool, little do they know that a third of Americans are as poor and ignorant as Africans, those who manage to live a better life dont even live it as potrayed on TV, they are so much normal, those paparatz have proper lawyers and bosses who support their mischief, i wonder why some elite gal would spend time trying to destroy peoples lives… serves you right, i have never read that blog maybe i should google it, but then again its nothing for me i guess, Mr Kilometre keep it up let that money help Zambia further Shame on the fake mrs!

  9. Try taking ZWD to court in America or whreever and see how your pants and fea,ces will be displayed in public. The fact still remains: You and your dull govt are nothing but sick crooks and tired politicians feasting on inocent blood.

  12. The article is very interesting and it has up date me but the question one may ask is that why is Zambian Judicial system so slow in coming up with a Judgment and mostly favours the rich. Mr. Honourable Minister Sir please take up this issue why should our civil cases take six to ten years to finish and have a Judgment, I think this is because of Political interference, why is justice do we just wait for Jehovah and Jesus Christ to liberate us. My cases have taken long why? Mr. Minister and your Opposition you are not doing good to Judiciary Jehovah God and Jesus Christ sees you. You can run but you cannot hide, the decisions you make today will affect your future. Thank you USA Judicial system fast and independent.
