Keagan Mumba put to rest

Share

Ex-Zambia Under-20 and Zanaco coach Keagan Mumba was on Wednesday afternoon put to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.

Mumba died on Saturday at the age of 52 after an illness.

Defence Minister and Chawama Member of Parliament Edgar Lungu led scores of mourners in paying their last respects to Mumba during a funeral service held at Chawama Primary School Grounds.

“Keagan was a candid and thruthful person, Keagan did not mince his words and called a spade, a spade,” Lungu told mourners.

The deceased was last year slapped with a three-month ban for speaking against a national wide talent identification programme started by former Zambia coach Herve Renard.

“I am sure some of you here know that he paid dearly for his truthfulness,” he added.

Chipolopolo coach Patrice Beaumelle attended the funeral together with several coaches, players and administrators.

Mumba has left a wife Florence and six children.

  1. Did Kalu attend?Did Kalu attend Kaizer Kalambo’s funeral?Oh my FAZ!No wonder Zambian football has no direction.Ilyashi litali.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  2. The soccer fraternity has yet again lost one of the most prominent figures on the soccer scene. Dennis Lota, Kaiser Kalambo and now Keegan Mumba. Zambia mourns!

  3. Sad day. To add to his achievements, Keagan as Coach won the Premier League with Zimbabwe’s most glamorous side Harare Dynamos twice in a roll. He also had a coaching stint in South Africa.

At international level he competed for the No.11 position but Kalu was at his best and we did not get to see Keagan’s immense talent at national level.
