Share

The Zambia China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone Development Limited has applied for 36 hectors of Land from the Kitwe City Council to enable them establish a living Zone for about 300 Chinese senior staff that would come to work for the Chambeshi Economic Zone in the next five years.

ZANIS in Kitwe reports that Kitwe City Council Director of Development Planning John Ngwata said the estimated total cost for this residential Zone was at K2.4 billion and that this cost included building materials, power supply, transportation charges and labour.

Mr Ngwata told the Kitwe District Development Coordinating Committee meeting held at the Council Chamber today that most of these buildings shall be two or four storey buildings with distinguished Chinese characteristics.

He said the proposed buildings to be constructed adjacent to the land given to another Chinese firm, Chambeshi Metals in Kitwe’s Garneton area, would comprise of Houses, Canteens, cafes, guest houses, gymnasiums and a sports field.

But the Local Authority has not concluded the matter yet to enable the DDCC and various Stakeholders consult on the matter further.

Mr Ngwata said there was need to consult widely because the area applied for was quite vast.

  1. Well just as Presido Sata Prdictated, here comes the 2 million Chinese into Zambia and they want to create a China Town of their own or is it a Province? Am sure LPM will just order the council to effect the Title deed. Why can’t they just live among us like the rest of the investors

  2. How about allowing “us” first to get a Dual Citizenship or allow as to reclaim our Citizenship since we have already have land left for us by our ancestors as it is our Birth Right, without asking “us” to pay 250,000 US Dollars to get a resident permit!? Bamwisa will always come, take what they came to take and go back where they come from. It’s a pity that “some Zedian’s need to get a visa to the motherland, all because of a Colonial Error.

  3. Somepeople in power will say investment.shame on you. they are coming with force and what about our very own graduates? will they ever find work? try to go and invest in their country and no one from yours will ever work in your company or kantemba! In the name of trade, they will colonise us, but this time its worse than thought! someone wake up there!

  4. Investors who come to our country and build infrastructure are far uch better than they that use our own mwaiseni buildings and go without showing any merciful touch to the locals.
They that are building are there to stay. Its just up to us as a nation to let them follow the local laws as they do to us in their own mandarin country.
Lets just count..How many foreign investors have built structures in Zambia?

  5. Zambians, zedians.Lets welcome foreigners but not sale out our country. As long as we have clean and clear investiment laws and strategies,we shall do better as a Nation.I also pray that the gov reacts and help locals solving bank issues. Our banks aren’t giving interests now but are gaining much from their clients, kula tu putwilakofye utupiya every month more than the interests they used to give. Are gonna keep our cash under carpets?safest way of saving.Loans to come up with projects are HARDER,

  6. How many have not built structures in cities but own land on Zedian soil, they dig precious stones behind the electric fences and send the monies home! You loosers living in China, how are you treated there? pretty sure they think you stink just because your color is not “yellow” dont agree with those flat asses to come and control your country, take for instance the tragical incidence that happend at Chambeshi mine, how many of “them” were killed and how many of the local citizens? Get Real.
