Choose credible leader in 2011-UPND advises Zambians

Share

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has advised Zambians to vote for a credible leader in 2011 who will stir the country’s development forward.

UPND National Chairperson for Women Affairs Masela Sekeseke-Chinyama said at a card renewal exercise in Livingstone yesterday that Zambians had to pay through the nose for health and education facilities because of the mismanagement of the Zambian economy under the Chiluba regime.

”We have now learnt a lesson that come 2011, we want to put an honest person who is not going to put money into their pockets,” she said.

And Ms Chinyama said the UPND will strive to stand for unity and will not allow any discrimination because it wants to attract other provinces to the party.

She said so far, the party had managed to capture Eastern province and was currently working towards attracting Northern and Luapula provinces.

Ms Chinyama also noted that whilst other political parties were busy fighting for positions and money, UPND wants to remain united adding that without unity, it would be difficult to develop the country.

She said there was need for people to rally behind UPND president Hakainde Hichilema as he was not only educated but honest and loving as well.

Ms Chinyama noted that once UPND came into power, no resident would be able to rent houses as all people will be able to live in their own houses. She also observed that the UPND once in power would build all people above eighteen years their own homes so that they do not keep their children within their parent’s homes.

Speaking earlier, UPND Provincial Chairman for Southern Province Gideon Shakalima said there was need to maintain the popularity of the party so that more votes could be amassed in 2011.

At the same function, former MMD Member Fred Chunga who has since defected to the UPND thanked the UPND district committee for co-opting him into the committee and pledged to work hard in the party.

Among those who defected to UPND were former United Liberal Party constituency chairperson Gloria Shamate and Mr Bowas Maseka.

  1. Mazoka must be turning in his grave because of the way HH and those TRIBALISTS(Sejani and co) who said that UPND could only be led by a TONGA have thrown this once viable party into a bottomless pit. What a shame!!!
New POLITICAL DISPENSATION is the answer to Zambia`s problems.

  2. Zambia can’t be 4 Tonga’s.
You Tonga’s you have got nothing to do with politics, instead you should take your tribalism away from Politics. You time wasters!!!!!!
Hichilema, who is he? is the only educated Politician?
we do not want the State house to shift to Tonga’s only ,let it be in the centre for good.
MMD & PF LET THEM PLAY THE ROLES.

  3. Yebo #3 (Imwe), you are a tribalism. I’ll respond on those lines. Why is it that all the plunders of this country, who are in court, are Bembas? Why did the economy go down during Chiluba. We know, it’s becoz he is born a thief and without leadership vision. Sata, a Bemba, has failed to run his party because he an autocrat. We all know very well what has gone on in PF the past one year.

  4. Only if you are bewitched will you blinded to see. Can we then trust him for Zambia? I’ve known Sata for long a time as a thug, who actually of late is displaying who he really is. Zambia has economically grown becoz of the tongas: Mwanawasa and Magande. With this proven record, trust HH also.

  5. HH is not a Politician his a Business Man! He failed to reason and the aspired to Presidency through the Tribal sect! what a shame. What team does he have now in UPND!!! those who are with him are few credible Tonga guys and no other tribes who is his VICE his not even known in NW Province….Shame Shame Shame

  6. We do not need shallow policking on this blog.Tribalism is an evil that should not even be in a zambian dictionary.Lets look at young and intelligent leaders despite their tribe.Thats why UPND does not sell anymore, Ba Daddy, pulling the race card is not even an excuse.Thats why MMD still triumps coz of the race issues in PF, UPND, etc.

  7. This is proper utopia”when UPND comes to power no citizen will be able to rent a house as all people will be able to live in their own houses” and “UPND will be able to build all citicezens above eighteen their own houses so that children will not have to live with their parents”. Even the little confidence I had in UPND has been eroded because of such ignorance. These people need a reality check.

  8. Hi blogers, happy newyear to you all. This UPND chairperson did not mean credible leader but incredible one.Which eastern province have they gained their support?Did they gain their suprise or what?

  9. whether we like it or not,we need to vote for a credible leader in 2011.we failled to achieve our goals because we only wanted to remove MMD in 2006 without looking at there credibilty, the result is the mediority we are seing in papers….this time please vote wisely dont follow fake politicians that can abandon the electorate in the midist of floods just to get some allowance…….mob justice will wish that the hall gets flooded…how a u bro u a quite today

  10. No tribe can be regarded as tribalists. No tribe can also be regarded as thieves;no family can said to be tribalists or thieves. However, individuals can be tribalists and thieves.

As Zambians we must think beyond our tribes and uphold our professional and personal intergrity in whatever we do in order to develop our country. Therefore, credible leaders for Zambia is a must.

  11. Wishful thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!! eh eh. Politicians seem to be the same; promise, get there, enrich oneself. We are tired

  12. chapi you do you read or hear whats happening in kanya, grow up, if you have issues wit HH , take it wit him ,am a tonga , won\t play your game. if you ahve parents they should be shame of you, unless you grew up on the streets, cos a normal person wit all his senses can`t be thinking so low like you, you are a sad person, try a love

  13. to all tongas , plis don`t repond to pipo like chapi and inkoko. let them play the tribal game alone, let them insult the more they like. balakatala

  14. inkoko and chapi should avoid abusive language on this blog.let us not marginalise any tribe if we are to avoid the kenya tragedy in zambia…..one zambia one nation’who knew that the lenjes will one day rule zambia…..whatever differences we have should not stil our peace.

  15. No.14 mind your language. Integrity and hardwork of course with good understanding of the books is what will keep economy ticking. Keep Tongas away from the topic of tribalism and face real issues. You cannot attribute all tongas to such nonsense as tribalism. I may not even be partisan, now why should all tongas be refered to as tribalists.

You should not use your heart to respond to issues. Use you mind which should be a component of your brain.

  16. Chapi and Inkoko, you will keep talking, while others are moving on. Do not talk about Tongas, think about yourself first, how do you want to contribute to this country. Work with everyone around that can help this economy grow. To me, people that sound like are only as good as dead wood. If you keep marginalizing you will not appreciate anything that is done by tonga. You may never; these people you think are beasts may work together with MMD and fail your party which i know is PF. I respect PF

  17. Guess you guys are so narrow minded……..your comments tells it all.You vote counts, that´s if you can vote….so wait for the elections year and let the votes do the talking. Why show how narrow mined you are………soon it will be like Kenya or Rwanda out there.

  18. #22 RM
Let us rubuke and denounce TRIBALISM where ever and whenever it shows its urgly head.We need to promote the ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION slogan in reality.
Do you have any honest answer as to why SAKI who was groomed by Mazoka did not take over the reigns of UPND?Simple answer is TRIBALISM which was promoted by Sejani and company. If they did not make that colosal blunder UPND/UDA could have possibly formed government or been the main opposition party.
New POLITICAL DISPENSATION is the answer.

  19. #24 You very hipocritical , just ur previous message and now you want to denouce what you started on this blog. How can we be dogs and still talkin to you … very shallow right. You are a tribaklist period. And Zambia does not need *****s like you try kenya or rwanda.

  20. Boyi Chapi(24),

You a serious case of bipolar disorder. No generation of the Zambian politics has your type of pervasive tribalism mentality. Now and in any future dispensation you are a life time reject. Its sad that your mouth has carried on the all the dirty discharge at birth from your mother’s placenta.

  21. #25 MIYOBA and Pragmatist #26
What does it mean when Sejani and company say that only a TONGA can lead UPND?
Why do you think Mazoka went out of his way to form UDA?
Do not live in denial but have the courage and strength to tackle even uncomfortable but real topics.

  22. Pragmatist #26
How can you sink so low as to impersonate me in #15 and #16?Have the courage and audacity to use your own ID.These are the side effects of your bootlicking when your BOSS` sputum and salivary amylase clots on your brain cells leading to abnormal CK-BB.Morons like you will always be known by the negative fruit they bear.

  23. I think that what we need is to change the electoral formular of our country. Never again should we allow the First-Past-The-Post system because it fosters divisive elements in our country. We need 50% plus 1 because his is the only way that we can sure every region of the country have a voice on the leader that our people elect. The results of this electoral formula are evident in countries such as Brazil and France. In short, our problem is not tribalism but the mechanisms we employ to elect.

  24. AM I a bemba and I intract very well, eat, help, share every thing with my Tonga friends around the country and I dont want anyone to spoils our relationship with my Tonga friends through this stupid blogging here. For me there is no different between them and me, we speak the same language of love, kindness and compasion. When we differ it is becuase IMITI IMPALAMINE TAIBUBWA KUSHENKANA? not on trible lines no no no pls nakana sana.
