Over 40 Zambians risk deportation from South Africa

Share

The South African government has given displaced victims of xenophobic violence, including over 40 Zambians, up to the close of today, July 21, 2008, to register for the six-month temporary resident permits or face immediate deportation to their countries of origin.

Second Secretary for Press at the Zambian High Commission in Pretoria South Africa Philip Chirwa confirmed the development in a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

Mr. Chirwa said this came to light at the weekend when officials from the Zambia High Commission in Pretoria visited the Rifle Range Site Camp south of Johannesburg to check on Zambian nationals camped at the site.

He said about a dozen Zambians found at the camp told the High Commission officials that they were initially reluctant to register for the temporary resident permits because they suspected that the South African government was trying to trick them into finding a way of deporting them.

Mr. Chirwa said after the officials explained the situation to the victims, including the consequences of not abiding by the laws of South Africa, they agreed to register for the permits and promised to urge their colleagues, who were not present at the time to do the same.

In a circular addressed to all the residents of the Rifle Range Site Camp, the South African government makes it clear that the ongoing registration exercise is compulsory for all the residents at the site regardless of status.

The purpose of the registration is to facilitate assistance and ensure access to the camp. The registration exercise would also provide legal protection on the holders of such permits. Failure to register would result in termination of assistance and protection by government, and ultimately may lead to deportation.

  1. What nonsense is this. If those Zambians dont want to be registered they should come back. Why stay in a foreign country illegaly? Why is the high commission allowing this nonsense? If they dont want to be legal in that country they must leave. Muletusebanya ba kolwe imwe

  2. these chaps should just come back home.If they dont want to follow the laws of the land they shuld be first arrested than sent to camps where they should made to work for their fares back home.SA has enough of it’s own problems.

  3. Its sad that even in foreign territories they seem not to trust the Governing Authority, read the fourth paragraph

“The Zambians were reluctant to register for temporary resident permits because they suspected that the RSA government was trying to trick them for deportation.”

To me they seems to be too much tricking in Zambia? so sad.

  4. Why call your cousins ba kolwe, you must be one yourself! Have respect for your fellow citizens, for most Zedians life is not easy at all last thing they need is guys like you who would rather respect white men than fellow africans. 80% of migrants around the globe are illegal only an ***** would call his own people monkeys!

  5. those zambians have no sense of pride in themselves. why subject oneself to harrassment kwati balibe ku nyumba? they are not even monkeys. monkeys are proud to live in thier own homes.

  6. Let the South African authority just deport these people they are wasting our time, and the Zambian authority should put a law in place to punish such chaps as they are an embarrasment to the State.

They should atleast spend six months on a government farm to do some farming.

  7. You chap just come back and enjoy the ever lasting peace.you can still progress here and contribute postively to the development our lovely nation.viva zedy…./”;

  8. You chaps just come back and enjoy the ever lasting peace.you can still progress here and contribute postively to the development our lovely nation.viva zedy…./”;

  9. This is a very small number of people and should not be difficult to deal with. Our Government should show compassion to those that engage in decent work and are willing to abide by our laws. However, Zambian government should also have a concept of protecting and respecting free men. Is it not recent that they wanted S. Africa to help them find and perhaps punish Mr. Zaaza, a free and innocent man.

  10. These guys should just come back and work in the farms we have enough land for them to work on.I lived in SA for sometime and the quality of life our brothers are living is very poor to say the least.
have some pride guys and go back home,b4 the Zimbo’s take all our jobs.

  11. Chances are that three qauters of those guys might not even be zambians. There are so many crooks in this world. We have to investigate how zambian are those “zmabians”.If their claims are true then they are so embarrasing.

  12. Monkeys or not,our pipo should consider coming back, i mean after all that suffering.Even if its trying to fight for a better life, better to live it with some pride.I’m doing far much better than my friends who left 4 RSA in 2001,i’ve married, bought a car,am building, while these guys keep changing jobs & have nothing tangible apart from nice cars & cloths.Zed is not as bad as portrayed by our friends living abroad. The modern Zed has a good number of opportunities which if properly utilized one would be just as comfortable. So guys please come back!!!!

  13. HH (Hakaifotela Humwine) has no human heart and all he knows are insults, musoya, mabisi, chibwatu nad rotten milk.Anyway the guy is still a provisincial leader surrounded by vultures. No wonder he has scattered teeth and round face kwati cipombwa.HH plz give respect to the future presdo ba Sata, the real PRAGMATIST.

  14. The Zambian government must make Zambia attractive enough for its citizens via realistic Pro-Zambian policies, instead of leaders diving and dodging when it comes to improving the life of the ordinary Zambian. We have too much nothing being done to ensure that Zambia develops her infrastructure so that the nation becomes attractive for all to live in. Dirty water, poor housing, no street lights, no decent schools, poor services and yet VAT is sky high! What a racket the MMD are running for themselves!!

  15. T boz well said , those chaps are embarassing us you can only liken to monkeys. # 4 why are you concerned are you one of the chaps in the tents. Those chaps are ba kolwe and if you are in the tent also then na iwe wine kolwe

  16. please Tongas i know you would want to answer this ***** from alqaeda.(bajoze). just ignore him as he is trying to lay a snare for you to start responding. he is frustrated and so let him be ignored by all and to the bembas please do not even post anything to support this gentleman. he may use a lot of blognames to entice you but just know that he is one and the same man. let us start this week with fresh and developmental thoughts to engineer our beautiful country to greater heights.

  17. # 12 DC 10, sorry to bust your bubble but getting married, buying a car does not amount to much development. I also doubt your statement about opportunities, you may have opportunities because of your family tree but that is not so for every one. Anyway These Zambians should come back home i think it is better than staying in a tent and having authorities threatening you with deportation. rather be poor but free than be poor and not free. You are simply embarassing our country. I do agree the best term to call your behaviour is monkeysh

  18. home is home, bweleni guys. you mean Tembisa, Alexandra is better than Kalisdale? Z yalipasa kulayendela fye

  19. #17 uli bushi sana te? HH called ba Sata an opportunist.Ara kubhar, knows the real leader wil be and that man will be ba SATA.

  20. zambian pilz, wat better stayin in those tents in south than stayin here in zed. even if it is mutendere! those fools shld be deported, cuz they are embrassing my beloved country. zambia is for zambians, zim is zimbabweans. south africa is for south africans. so pilz stay in ur countries!! via via xenophobia!!!

  21. #12 I agree with you.Opportunities are their in Zed it only takes one to identify which one to exploit.

  22. Bajoze how does it feel to be ignored. you feel stupid i guess guys continue ignoring this tribal element. i thank you in advance.

  23. 12 is actually saying the Truth there few guys out there if not careful will end up having a good life in the countries they are in when they return if they dont invest may land into problems.

but i know some who are doing much better than us here.

  24. zambia has no direction,we have no leaders just a bunch of jokers who have no clue of whats going on.Listening to Bill Clinton,Barack Obama,Tony Blair speak makes you realise how far off we.I wonder what these guys have that us zambians dont.We are now crying over staying in Tembisa!Deport these monkeys Mbeki and close down the Zambian High Commission ,because all it does is just embarasses us!!!First ZAZA than monkeys what next???

  25. there alot pretending to be Zambians.personally i have met them here but our embassies in most countries are not helpful even if you report otherwise you can just put your life at risk if they discover that you reported them.no protection from embassies.

  26. The quality of life in South Africa is high compared to mother Zed, but these guys are definitely not getting any of that.If they were they would not be in tents. How come a good number of Zambians are not in tents. These guys should just swallow their pride and go home ,get their act together and come back. I have been to these tents to donate clothing believe me the conditions are inhumane. Even the worse compound in Zambia is better off. Come on Zambians we can do better than this

  27. #18 Mashabe,my bubbles are intact!Mudala, yes life is tough in Zed & in my earlier contribution i used the words, Zed is not as bad as portrayed by pipo like you Mashabe who are living abroad.Does it mean that every Zambian whose gotten a property & instead of complaining about what GRZ has not done for him/her but rather dedicated his/her efforts to hard work is now a member of the family tree?Is the family tree endless? You are the same pipo who upon seeing your peers owning nice cars & are doing well & u start saying they are satanists.Come on!! grow up & work hard.My point is let our friends come back home & join us who by God’s grace are not staying in tents & do manage to hav all 3 meals

  28. Can someone get these monkeys back home. They have less than 4 hours to register or else it is Lindela( deportation center) Our Embassy entertains too much crap that is why the high commission can go to a pub to meet that chap Zaza. Ba kolwe please come back home twapapata. You have heard from # 12 DC10 ati he is doing well ,he has a wife and he has a car. That should inspire you

  29. Number 13 you are totally wrong and mad.Sata has been in power since 1964(freedom fighter)and will surely NEVER rule our peaceful nation.
Zambia deserves a better person not an old finished tribalistic heartattack prone cadre.
HH is not my tribesman but he is the man for the presidency wether you like it or not..
Remember he only campaighned for 6 weeks and just look at the result,EXCELLENT(25 MPs).

  30. HH is going to lose the election in 2011 only if he doesn’t stand ,period.
Mind you very few Zambians now look at tribe unless the foolish ones.

  31. kwanu ni kwanu, mu zambia muna chinja manje, si zambia yamene munataba many yrs ago. ife kuno cilila, nikuziba cabe vamene ucita. bwelani cabe and start afresh and u will catch up. dont be slaves mu calo cabene, have pride

  32. DC 10 my brother i stay in Zambia.I would like to differ with you on opporunities in Zed. Yes they do come with connections. if you aint got none you wont go anywhere.Once again getting married and owning a car is not development. That statement does say alot about you

  33. chimwemwe tell us more,it seems to me u have lots of infor.how bad are these tents?zambia is a good place only for hard workers i guess those in tents r the lazy ones who were looking for better life in SA on a silver plate.i also agree niba kolwe

  34. On a serious note getting married and buying a car is not development. Come on guys any Kaponya can do that.DC10 you have to think beyond that. These guys abroad have those things too. Better still they drive latest cars not these dot coms that we have here. And you talk about 3 meals!!!!! my man you need exposure.

  35. Zambians are the new Indians. Good luck on your return home – you’ll find Mr Price and Spar … no vundu ba kamba. We’ll find you when they deport us from Asia as well.

  36. Those cowards should just come back home. Is it because they fear to be laughed kwati a Phiri anabwera!!

You guys just come . You have relatives here and life in Zambia is much simpler than in South Africa. Even people with little education are surviving. If you dont know, you are already destitutes. I f you want buses to be sent to collect you, as Zambians we can contribute two buses to bring you back home. jUST ORGANIZE YOURSELVES, WE CAN GET YOU QUICKER THANYOU WENT INTO SOUTH AFRICA. DONT EMBARASS US!!

  37. why are they afraid of coming back home? Maybe they are wanted by the police in Zambia “bana chimwa”. They should be investigated maybe some wanted fraudsters are among them.

  38. People, Do not tell us Stories about Zed. thats where we came from people. There are no opportunities in Zambia for all, only a few. To the larger Diaspora, ignore these remarks, they are condeming foreign countries with one hand and extending the other for a Visa. As for those Zambians in RSA, its their personal decision or the South African Govt to come back or not. So you Kapenta and Beans eating chaps look for Nchekeleko meanwhile for tommorrow’s breakfast.

  39. beta 2 eat kapenta na beans happily than kudya tbone yamufikansa ba didi#49, mwaliba dalo? bweleni fye unless u have no kids otherwise uvuta bana

  40. let them come back home and develop zambia.how can u stay illegaly in a foreghn land?
    ba high commission also bapuba!!
zambians let us make zed better, people will be runing like that.
i’m abroad studying but to tell the truth ,it’s not good to be in a foreign land bane.no freedom at all!!!

  41. Be careful with chimwemwe, I know this guy from evelyn Hone he is a chancer, he is not even doing fine in RSA, thank the old woman who married him and looking after him.
    Bakolwe just come back

  42. Be careful with chimwemwe, I know this guy from evelyn Hone he is a chancer, he is not even doing fine in RSA, thank the old woman who married him and looking after him.
    Bakolwe just come back

  43. Haters out there, no one makes decision for you. Too much kalukungu ku zambia, sinizabwela voluntarily my friend. I like my freedom and my own independence. I do not want to live in anybody house or is it tent but my own. All you haters out there, get a chance to travel and see for yourself what development means. Hamba Kahle!!!

  44. # 35
we know you, you are a crook am sure you are not even doin well.if it was not for the sugar mummies you could have been in one of those tents.i suspected you must be friends with Zaza.

  45. #59 Chanda Chanda,
How stupid can you be,your comments are are very shocking.People like you are worse than Mugabe.Thank God Zambia will never be divided on tribal grounds.Just shut up if u dont have anything proper to say or go to sleep so that you can go and work in the care home at night.

  46. Didi
I have never heard of a silly and dull chap like you, you mean you cant even reason? Come back kolwe

  47. You see what I mean, all the zambian bloggers have disapeared, its past 5pm ku zambia, the boss is locking the office, therefore no access to internet. I have internet in the comfort of my own home.

  48. benja be truthful to yourself, blogging under different names does not help, see how you have been caught above, same comments under two different names? Shame on you!!!

  49. Thanks for that SA Authority, these guys should come back home.
ZED is for Zambians and SA is for South Africans only, simple and period.

  50. I simpathise with our brothers/sisters living in tents here in SA. If they need help they should come in the open and they will be assisted. Calling them names is not the solution. Let us help them, we are all Zedians.

  51. 58 you are right actually #35 is a collegue to that guy,he will soon join the tents if the sugar mummies are done with him

  52. These guys in tents are just unfortunate, otherwise the standard of living here in South Africa is very high compared against Zambia’s especially for us foreigners because we don’t play at work.

  53. Didi kwanu ni kuti? Even if niku chibolya you mean you cant develop your roots. Its a blessing not to have you in Zambia coz you are a parpet who reaps where you did not sow. Just continue being paid $100 per round.

  54. The problem in Zambia is black tea and bread without butter for breakfast. For lunch(if you are lucky) it ba kapenta, rape and a portion. No wonder most Zambians are naturally slim. We have been fasting from birth.

  55. I had gone for a holiday in south africa with moro R 20,000.00 cash to spend with my wife , maguys benze kuni pempa yandiyo na moba. Every morning they would come with me for shopping.

  56. I find the attacks on # 12 rather unfair. Lets appreciate that we are all at very different levels in life & our aspirations totally different. What i may consider progress may not be for the next person. Lets be respectiful of other pipo’s aspirations even though they may be miles apart from ours. Thats what will make us a great pipo & a great nation.

  57. Zambians flocking to South Africa are just wasting their time. In terms of making money they can make more in Zambia. Look !uneducated chinse are making about $300 000 er annum in Zed through chicken runs or farming. My advise to you is that if yo have saved enough buy equipment and come back to be a bwana here.
Dont be stupid to stay long in SouthAfrica otehrwise you shall be left behind. See how Zed is developing. Even South Africans are flocking to zed. These days we dont even envy people staying in SA. We have Sa chain shops. We just go thre for holidays and South Africans come here for holidays.

  58. #71 that is the food that I miss!! I wish I could be slim! Anonuymous you always amaze me. Dont you know that the opposite of slim is obese and obesity is something that we dont dread for!!

  59. Those Zambians boasting they made money in ZED should be truthful and say they had to ukobosha before a tender was granted. That is what makes Zambia a difficult place, becuase if your uncle or auntie are not in Govt forget about business contracts. Very Zedians have made money geniunely without ukobosha.

  60. #77 The issue hre is about Zambians in diaspora. They have better opportunities and chances than us in zed because, unless they are drunkards or spendthrifts, they have more savings from advanced countries.Land is here, they can afford to buy plots. All waht they need is starting capital which they have. They can buy machinery or other capital goods which they can use to start businesses here. So simple. The problem is that most people have wrong priorities.

  61. mat.ole yenu imwe monse muli apa mwe ma bloggers. Ine nalizanda elo nshumfwa hahahaha

  62. Continued #78 I also sometimes wonder.SOuth Africans and other foreigners working in Zed make thier money here and send all of it South Africa. Why dont Zambians do the same? Maybe they dont know the advantages, i.e, increase in foreign reserves which can in turn help the economy gerow.
Just imagine how big our economy could be if all the money that our leaders steal could be kept in Zambian banks and all remmittances from properties abroad owned by Zambians could be in Zambian banks!! I think we could have been a middle income by now!! This is all possible. The Govt just have to create a proper environment! Cosse righ leaders!! God bless mother Zambia!!

  63. Why are people being so petty? If these people refuse to come home and choose to live in tents, let them be and they are not any way embarrassing Zambia but themselves and their families.

No one has heard their side of the story on why they are refusing to go back to zambia and yet all we are reading are insults.

If you are in Zambia and enjoying so be it and just continue enjoying. Why do you bother?

Some of you have taken this too personal and spiced with insults. If these people are monkeys are monkeys then what makes you not a monkey? Explain.

It is like you now have a life time opportunity to get at every who is abroad (The perceived competitor) If these people are monkeys are monkeys then what makes you not a monkey? Explain.

  65. #77 You must have made those comments based on hearsay more than fact. You can definately get a contract wwithout corruption. Am not denying that such things happen, all am saying is that clean business does exist in Zambia and many people have claimed their stake. Besides who said Govt is the only source of contracts. There are so many international NGOs, UN agencies, the mines etc that you can do business with. Your vision must not be so limited.

  66. 86# I think the devil will mint a very stiff punishment on you. Why dont have such elongated madibles and you wafo like you have brains on your forhead. Tomorrow it will be you being sick you might not even get that help. Instead of being positive and having feelings for the sick you go on lamenting like wolf without senses. Lord will punish by death and your soul will perish what hell it will be for you.

  67. VIVA #85 & #86.some of these pipo need to get their brains together cause they are writing from without. The president went to paris for better treatment.what the hell is different from the poor zambians in south africa. The president is setting bad examples. They should be an arrest warrant when or if he comes back.

  68. Lets not lose the focus of the Debate here. I have not been in Zambia in almost Six years now. What I have actually come to realise is that the problem in Zambia lies not with the poor but the so called rich people. We have a silence caste system, where its keep them down, I live in a country where everyone can be come rich, you can go to any university you want regardless of social standing. In my almost six years, i have gotten an education I can only dream of in Zambia, I paid my own had earned money, over a $100 000, its such opportunities I could never have in zambia, thats what keeps me abroad my friends!!!

  69. Easy #87 It is reality. Whether in sickness or in health reality shall prevail. As for cursing on me, all I can say is continue dreaming.

  70. Easy #87 I sympathise with your level of thinking. You fail to counter my posting and you reduce yourself to insults but I can not insult you back because you are already hurting from my posting in #86

Everyone must understand that deciding whether to live in Zambia or not is a personal decision and not a national one.

  71. #11 has a point. Nowadays, there are a lot of chaps claming to be Zambians when they are not. Probably these chaps have fake passports. Why would they decide not to get the six months resident permints? They stand a better chance of staying a bit longer in SA if they got the temporary resident permit than if they continued to stay in the country illegally.

If these chaps are really Zambians then they are an embarassment to Zed. Let them be deported.

  72. A permit will not fix anthing, xenophobic attackers dont ask for your pepers before, during or after beating you, they even beat or killed south africans who spoke the the languages of the north, like Pedi, shangan etc,its nice if they if they want those brothers to get papers but dont lie to them that it will stop them from getting wired, thats false confort

  73. That fact those Zambians in South Africa are willing to stay there despite the danger says alot about the real situation in Zambia,no opportunities only tu Ntemba for Zambians & all the real opportunities to foreigners & a few Citizens connected to government.I found opportunities in Newcastle big time, thank God I left!God help those Zambians.

  74. #97 Hey man, there are still a lot of opportunities in Zambia. A lot of people are making it and are progressing. People are able to find jobs, start businesses, buy land and build houses. Those people should just go back home, there is no place like home.

  75. Mulenga,I totally agree with you.For someone to decide to stay when their life is on the line speaks volumes about our beloved country.
While others are busy saying just come back home. The question is come back to what?
When these guys come back home they wont have anything to do.Things maybe rough for them right now but they do know at the back of their mind that things will be okay.
Things will be okay keep fighting the good fight and the Lord will bless you all.

  76. come on pipo.why leave such a life then come back to zed to show of that u were in south, think of it pipo zed is developin and pipo home are livin good lives.time u come back home u will find we have taken all the land and built then who do u run to,wake up pipo and stop makin a bad name of us zambians.goin abroad to do fake jobs which u cant do in your own country….where are we headed with this life of wantin to leavin zed with no plan

  77. IWE KA 101.I have walked what you are talking about.i went thru college pa zed.did not find any job not even shoprite could take me for any position.ku mangalande kuno,i get paid more your ministers.Life is about finding what is best for you.don’t just sit, stand up and see what you are missing.I do not blame this pipo, they want a better life for their families.

  78. Living in SOuth Africa is not a story these days!! Its just like someone saying I am from Malawi. Actually South Africans like Zambia

  79. I sense animosity from zambians at home to the zambians abroad. I fekt it when I visited Lusaka, people in zambia have a lot of ill feelings towards zambian emigrants. It’s like they wait for you to have problems and they celebrate and when they see you doing good they get angry and pretend you are the reason for all their problems. Many of zambians are small minded if they see a chinese or shoprite owner making money they call that development even if they are suffering> My friends in zambia tell me zed has developed and people have Hummers and yet these friends don’t even have cars …too funny

  80. IF U LEAVE JUST KNOW THAT U LL BE REPLACED BY EITHER A CHINESE, RWANDESE CONGOLESE OR AN INDIAN, THEY WILL BUY WHAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE YOUR LAND, WHEN YOUR TURN COMES FOR A PHIRI ANABWELA YOU SHOULDNT COMPLAIN PERIOD.

  81. ZAMBIA WILL NEVER BE EMPTY LIKE IT OR NOT, THE LEBANESE WILL TAKE UP YOUR PLACE. RUN AWAY FROM KAPENTA YOU THINK THE FOREIGNERS WILL COME TO EAT KAPENTA, THATS WHY I LOVE THOSE FROM RWANDA BECAUSE THEY HAVE SEEN AT CHAPWALALA GO ROUND YOU WILL FIND THEM AND THEY ARE FLUENT IN NYANJA.

  82. Even during Shaka Zulus time the lazy chaps couldnt with stand they got away, and now they are trying to get back to Shaka’s land. Modern slave they think they are benefitting but instead Europe is benefiting much more than they can realise. Wash grand mum’ bedding coz am too busy for that crap.

  83. I’m begining to believe that there is a grain of jealousy towards those that left zed. Case in point, a whole minister in zambia after xeno attacks went on to call such brutal attacks as a blessing coz zambians in S.A will return & develop the country.

Which begs the question, what are those zambians who claim tobe ‘doing fine’ and supposedly captains of industries doing about development??

  84. ba anonymous ma show off, y let us know how much you went wih muku shoppinger? ya… childish and ufontini

  85. Voting for Sata is like voting for a corpse! We need a clean start with a leader with a mission to make Zambia a better country, and vision to serve and not to become an overlord the way the mmd have been bossing our nation with fake investors who are good for nothing – they pay no taxes, pollute the country, and drain all the resources for themselves with the participation of the mmd leaders like LPM, and Mutati!

  86. guys just come home. you are missing on the development that is currently sweeping through our country. there are now young bougeois like the owner of Mad Max motors, mikalile and others we dont know who have made it big time. if you are scared to come home just know that time is ticking and when you do ‘A PHIRI ANA BBWELA’ you will find these opportunities have been taken up. right now we have the citizens empowerment commision that can assist in providig you with seed money to undertake various development projects.

  87. You guys back in Zed don’t be dull.Where does one get money to start anything in Zed.Banks don’t lend money to poor Zambians only to you priveledged few blogging own this site who are claiming things are great there when they are not.To survive in Zed one has to be a good conman. We Zambians abroad send cash back home, which helps our poor relatives survive. If more of u can migrate, there will more sent back to mother Zambia!

  88. You’all talk about zambia developing….. are you part of that development yourselves? We all have to make use of opportunities that land on our door steps, if you have an opportunity to go abroad, make use of it and if you remain in Zed, tamanga like every one else – its survival of the fittest!!!. I do sense some jealousy in most of the comments coming from Zambians living in Zambia. I have lived abroad for 12years now and i’m not coming back anytime soon. Stop the name calling the displacees in jhb, if life was better for them in Z, trust me, they would have been back in a flash of a second. They know why they have chosen to remain in SA. The tents are just an interim solution.

  89. HEHEHEHEHE

    Monkeys!!!!!

ok they are ANYANDULE infesting on other peoples waste.

these chaps to that country not as experts but as street vendors

Let them go back home and vend from Zed…..if they where in formal employment they would not have been affected by these attacks as the companies they would have been working for would have repatriated them with benefits back to zambia.

    akokorochi

  90. 112 you are wrong, you dont have to be a good conman to survive in Zambia. Sending cash back home is not the solution. The solution s to develop the country. Its sad that you are actually proud of living away from home. Sad and shallow

  91. Choosing ones country of residence is entirely personal. However, I would love to see a situation where our country Zambia is highly developed and we can all live there happily. So you people who are in the diaspora and the Zambians at home should know that Zambia is your home and you can never have any place to call home. Better develop it in the best possible way you can

  92. Those Chaps should just return home without fail. They are an embarrassment to the people of Zambia. How do you run away from a place where there is peace and go to a place where you are not even free and always on your toes. Infact, most of them are not even in meaningful employment.
    Shame on them.

  93. I tried to stay abroad after earning a degree but could not just stomach it. The way some graduates grease themselves to earn a few pounds, its modern slavery. You think you are working hard to earn money when infact you are working hard to enrich those countries. Ukutumpa!! We know most of you are not highly educated that is why you work in slave conditions. You cant even sit in a shade of a tree to relax in fresh air. In Zambia we can afford this even those who live on less than one dolalr a day. Happiness or money. Its your choice!!

You even call your bosses bwana for nothing. Such category

  94. QueenBee 115, i said make use of whatever situation you are in. I’m not proud of living outside my country but i know i’m so much better off here than i was back home. Its a personal choice that i made, i’m not a slave, i have gotten my degree, have a 9 to 5 job, bought property both here and zed and i also drive a luxury car. I wouldnt have been where i am today if i was in zed because i didnt have the opportunities.

  95. 115 Queen bee,I live well here in Newcastle,I’ll invite you so you can see for your self,I’ll pay even your airfare and pick you from the airport in style.I searched for the so called opportunities back there found none.I had to leave and now its all good baby believe me.I’ll come back more successful than Prof.Chirwa.Am sure you will vote for me.I earn a living and am recieving good education.I thank God I came!Migrate before its too late!!

  96. life is how u make it coz if u stay in zamb or outside and u dont plan yr life well u still face the misery of yr future.am here in south africa my life z on truck bt still there certain things i cant do coz of being a foreigner .jst the word for ths pipo in tents the best way is for them to go back home coz families wld probably help them as here no one will go to their rescue.Guys home z home it doensnt matter whre u come from.pliz bwelelenimo tukamisanga

  97. #108 Thats when you are figuring zambians are like crabs in a barrel they want to pull others down to their level. It’s funny how the ‘come back to zambia’ brigade thinks the zambians in diaspora have not invested back home. Just ask any zambian how much school fee’s for bachiblulu we pay . Not to brag but am fine I already have a house in avondale, kabwata and a farm and a house in england so My trip abroad paid off and is still paying off. It’s bitter people like Koyatininii!! who failed to make anything out of themselves and want everyone to reduce themselves to his level. I doubt such a dull character even passed his degree

  98. I want to dedicate that daddy zemus song to all the zambians in zambia that are mad at zambians abroad.

acccch chibaba ummmmmm hmmmmm acccch chibala sozankan onaso !!!

  99. #117: maybe what is an embarrassment is that even with our “peace” in zambia, many can’t make it… you can’t eat peace. and some of those who are hungry can/will resort to stealing and then you’ll want to call him a thief/useless. so better they go pa jhbg and struggle around, feed themselves, improve their lives, and pick up.

  100. a reminder to those pa zed typing about development – you are the handful that have access to spend $$$/time blogging about development and throwing stones at your brothers who have left zed for greener pastures. if anyone can develop zed it is suppose to be you since you seem to have access to nice jobs and extra time on your hands. for my part, i can develop not my country but my family – it is them that i owe something, not zed. my responsibility lies with my community/family and not a particular government/regime. that regime didn’t deem me good enough to hold even a ka job while pa zed so what do they want of me now? no thanks, i’ll pass.

  101. I know someone who says that her Mum is a distant relative to the First Lady,Mrs Mwanawasa.
She boasts that her mum has been given some contracts/tender to supply ZAF and a few other government departments.
Money is not a problem to this family. If the girl doesnt have money for rent(the mom sends from Zed,in us dollars too)
I find it very disappointing when you guys say, these guys should come back home.
Dont say that because not all people are equal in Zambia and not all of us have a high ranking government official as a mum or dud.

  102. God is always Good. Some of us went to boarding schools far away from Lusaka or other big towns and studied hard but with the likage pa grade 12 didnt make it to campus. The results had alot of 7’s but when I came here I took GED and was accepted pa university got a degree.Had I remained back home I wouldnt have achieved all this. This would have been another broken dream.I know alot of Zambians with broken dreams and are dying with potential. The african government has too much power/resources that they can improve the wellbeing of its citizens but everyone is selfish.

  103. Most of us outside Zambia ran away because of limited oportunities there inspite and in the midst of abundance. There are so many had working people in Zambia frustrated by corrupt and institutionalised bribery which BTW the current Govt. is trying to fight. There are so many who have lost opportunities there. This is sad! For those that cant find those opportunities in Zed, please try to find those from outside but don’t stay in refugee camps outside and claim that you dont have a home to return to.

  104. Its not easy to be a foreigner. May be for those who earn good money and are in good jobs. Even then, you are beter off working in your own country. These western countries are only good for holidays or for studies especially on scholarships. Even if you have a good job, chances are high that you will be victimised at your place of work. I know of a medical doctor who could not stand it and is now back home. He told me that even local nurses could give him instructions at his place of work. He is now fairly ok at UTH and living in a good house unlike his previous cramped up small apartment flat in the UK.

  105. Accomodation is also very expensive in these western countries. The guys work every day without resting in order to make ends meet. They don’t even know holidays. No relaxation. In Zed, u can even mingle with friends whilst having some drinks. If you have a degree or a good tertiary education, ur by far beta off in Zed as long as ur not in a rush of making it big one time.

  106. Life is not always easy overseas but if you perservere its possible to live comfortably, study, get good jobs, buy property and cars etc. Living overseas is better than coming back to Zed and having to deal with substandard services from banks, council etc.The thought of that green smelly water from Kafubu water works turns my stomach, dealing with potholes is a nightmare, no entertainment unless you are a die hard drunkard(by the way are there any sporting or decent recreational facilities for kids, cinemas or decent parks in Ndola now??). Even if you come back and hassle long enough to buy a build a house where will you get water and electricity?

  107. I’ve been asked on numerous times by concerned collegues as to whether I’m the person that regularly passes derogatory remarks against fellow countrymen on this forum.
Yes I’m based in Johannesburg and I happen to work for the country’s biggest circulating financial weekly as a financial Journalist. However I wish to add that I have a modest and a low-key private life that’s indeed not worth writting about.I’ve never been on this forum and the only reason for writting is to correct this impression. Its come to my attention that I’ve been mistaken for one Chimwemwe Kainja the regular contributor who happens to live in SA as well.I therefore wish to disassociate myself from this gentleman.

  108. From the flurry of calls I’ve been fielding, the gentleman seems to have been spitting a lot of venom. Its a pity I’ve been associated with his writting. It matters too little as to whether I’m some dug dealer or chancer of note, my complaint is that of mistaken identity.
I honestly can’t tell whether this person deliberately writes under my guise for mileage purposes or he is indeed Chimwemwe, may this mail serve to remind all sober minded people that we are indeed two different people.

  109. betatimes you are very right…….not . Thats what hardworking people do work all the time, am sure you come from a family of lovaz who think working everyday is abnormal. And talking about holidays zambians abroad go on real holidays around the world not just to siavonga or kafue river. If life in zambia was so much better don’t you think we would be running to zambia, haven’t you ever wondered why the deported ones always suffer from depression when sent back. It’s because they know what they left is good and a rare opportunity

  110. #134 Chimwemwe,If think you and I know each other,we met in RSA some time in the late 90s.Remember,Mulenga,Wilson Gezane,Kaunda Chama,Manda.
